What a great shop. We popped in here as we were leaving Granville Island. What an amazing selection. So many fun umbrellas. I found this amazing purple/silver shiny umbrella. I had never seen such a cool umbrella I had to get it and it was not expensive(there was a good range of prices from affordable to expensive).

I fell in love with their umbrellas. Strong and all sizes available. Pricey but if you are not a frequent umbrella loser, it’s better to have their umbrellas than multiple $ 10 umbrellas from shoppers drug mart. I found some printed umbrellas that match with my purses, skirts and shirts. Some are detailed out well.

I went in a couple of years ago when an umbrella I had was broken. I wanted them to fix it, and they did, but didn’t charge me. Their customer service is outstanding. I bought a new umbrella anyway, and it served me well until it got stolen. But I have a new umbrella from them, and liking it a lot.

If you need an umbrella, you MUST come here! The lovely lady(I think she must be the owner) was so committed in helping me find the right umbrella for me. She let me open and try any umbrella I was interested in and educated me about all of them. The price range varies from $ 9-$ 100 so whether you are coming in out of desperation and taking refuge from the pouring rain or looking for a cute, trendy umbrella — there’s something for everyone! Because let’s be honest, Vancouver has made rubber boots fashionable so why not accessorize with a stylish umbrella to compliment our rain jacket & dog walking outfit?

I never would have imagined that I would be shelling out nearly $ 40 for an umbrella prior to entering this shop. Their designs are irresistible! The downside is that it took me forever to find a folding umbrella that wasn’t child size like. The selection was limited while I was there, but I managed to find a perfect one after much patience. They come with warranty(sewings are free) — Keep your receipt. This place is definitely worth going especially if you’re looking to invest in a quality umbrella. As you should. Rainy days in Vancouver would certainly brighten up if these beautiful umbrellas were everywhere. I’ve come close to losing my precious umbrella on many occasions, but my wonderful friend somehow always prevents that from happening. God bless her! I would cry a river if that happened *fingers crossed that it shall never* I’m certainly coming back because the quality is amazing. I love rainy days(don’t hate) and I’ll grab any chance to walk in the rain with an umbrella from here.

«I have forgotten my umbrella.» Oh good grief. Only in Vancouver would this shop exist. There be umbrellas. Lots and lots of umbrellas. Different handled brellies, different patterned brellies, lots and lots of umbrellas. Pricey, to be sure. But, after laying down these dollah bills, maybe you won’t forget it. Right, Frieddy?

Let’s finally admit what we are all thinking but afraid to say… we live in a rainy city 52 weeks of the year. I am one of those whom dresses decently for my fashion only to have to cover it up in rain gear… BOO. I stumbled upon the Umbrella Shop at the foot of Granville Island on a sunny day(ironic). They have great quality hand made in shop umbrellas to suit every style. Might as well be stylish in rain gear. I was inside the store just to browse, no original intention to buy anything until the lady suggested something for father’s day. The lady/owner was very helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating. He Umbrellas are expensive, however, you get what you pay for. In reality even if you buy a cheap drug store umbrella that breaks easily, you end up spending the same amount. Why not buy a good umbrella once and for all. I ended up picking something stylish for my dad that looked like one of his favorite ties.

I love this store! It is my opinion that quality is most important when buying an umbrella. To buy a cheap umbrella is to guarantee that you will be buying another one real soon, and on it goes. But if you buy a high quality umbrella from the umbrella shop, you spend more once, get a great umbrella(with many options to choose from… some would be surprised the advances they’ve made with high quality umbrellas), and in the long run save money, because your umbrella will last you years, especially because this store offers lifetime repairs on every product they sell! Not that many repairs will be required… just the nylons coming off a spoke perhaps, assuming you don’t abuse it. In Vancouver, a place like the umbrella shop is necessary! Very nice customer service too, and they nicely gift wrap in umbrella boxes for free.

A rainy Saturday on the way to brunch and without an umbrella. The young guy working in the store knew more about umbrellas than I thought possible, and the design, craftspersonship, and care that goes into these umbrellas is nothing less than impressive. They come in all different weights & sizes, are affordable, and have a great warranty. This is definitely not your department store umbrella. Highly recommended.

Good selection within certain styles. If you don’t really think about umbrellas that much, then this place will blow your mind. If you’re very particular about your umbrellas, then they may or may not have what you’re looking for. The clerk was very helpful and a lot of fun without being at all pushy. I got offered a deal without asking! So they’re definitely open to haggling.

Very helpful, both times I was here recently. The most recent trip I was looking for an umbrella that was going to be used as part of a halloween costume that I had planned to perform«surgery» on. The unusual request was met with great enthusiasm to try and help me find the right material that would be easist to dismantle.(Unfortunately the costume was shelved for another better idea. p. s. anyone want half an umbrella?) p. p. s. Did you know that you can buy umbrellas with lights in them? You do now!

When visiting Vancouver for the first time, I thought it would be appropriate to buy a nice umbrella for practical reasons and as an apt souvenir. I ended up getting a very unique and lovely umbrella at the Umbrella Shop. If you’re looking for variety and quality, just stop by here or at their other location. They have umbrellas for every personality and budget. The employee was also very friendly and had a great knowledge of umbrellas.

The Flader family have been manufacturing top quality umbrellas for Vancouverites for over 70 years so you have it on good authority that they clearly have a knack for keeping people dry. I don’t know much about umbrellas, other than they can keep you dry from rain and shaded from the sun, the latter being referred to as a parasol instead of umbrella. Glen Fader and his team of umbrella makers can customize for your umbrella needs or supply you with an ever stylish alternative to that ratty black hazard you’re calling an umbrella. Okay, that’s just me, but the point is, The Umbrella Shop encourages you to view an umbrella as a life piece as well as a chance to accessorize with something unique and reflective of your personality. Of course, this will cost you a pretty penny, but most good things do.

Another necessary store to visit if you live in Vancouver — or even just plan to visit our fair city any time between November and May. The Umbrella Shop in Granville Island produces many styles of brollies in many glorious colours and patterns. The store also carries imported umbrellas, does custom orders and repairs, and offers shipping.

Situated right at the entrance of Granville Island, this charming little shop aims to assist you in any umbrella-needed situation, which in Vancouver is a dire affair. Spotted, patterned, dome-like or parasol, this shop has you covered(sorry, bad pun). With nearly a hundred different styles and an excelled refund policy(which I highly doubt you’ll use), this place will surely have an umbrella to suit your individual needs and unique taste.
