The Second Floor Bistro

Fantastic… I will return for sure. Amazing value…15 dollars for a 3 course meal, and I fine one at that. They are open Thursday and Friday for lunch. They change the menu every 3 weeks. Wonderful!

I had a fantastic first visit to this lovely little bistro run to give culinary students more experience. They are only open for lunch on Thursdays and Fridays, but offer an option for patrons to get on an e-​mail list for their lunch menus and you can order ahead, reserve or get fantastic meals to go.
My friend and I had a mint and pea ravioli appetizer. She had pulled pork tacos and I had a lemon risotto with asparagus and mushrooms main. We shared a chocolate caramel tart and lemon panna cotta with rhubarb compote. We both enjoyed our own (and each others) meals immensely.
The staff and students were very friendly and even though it was our severs first day in the ‘front’ she was very helpful. At the end of the meal we chatted a bit and she said she was feeling very shy and not certain about when to approach but I thought she did quite well.
The bistro is also very well priced for a typical ‘higher end’ meal. Our appetizer was 6 $, and our meals were 13 $ and 11 $ respectively and dessert was the usual 6 to 7 $.
According to our server there is parking west of the arts institute building and on the streets nearby, and the building is located one block to the south of the renfrew skytrain station. The bistro is, as it is named, on the second floor of the building.
I didn’t note the opening time but they close at 2:30.
I highly encourage anyone in the area to stop in if they have the opportunity.
