The customer service in this store is unbelievable. I have purchased several pairs of eyewear here and keep returning as I know that they will find what suits my face and will provide me with their honest opinion. I have bought glasses in the past from other stores and have never met a team as dedicated as those at the Optical Boutique.

Amazing cistomer sevice. If you are looking for something totally different in glasses, this place is for you. I’m more of a prada/​tiffany glasses kind of girl so didnt find anything for myself but would recommend checking it out if you want something totally different.

I’ve been wearing glasses for a long time and consider myself to be in the loop when it comes to picking them out. What surprised me about this store was their selection. I’m usually difficult to fit, but the owner, Sue was able to pick out 5 frames that suited my face.
She looked at my prescription, skin tone, bone structure (nobody had ever done this with me before!) I loved all the frames and ended up buying 2 of them, a Theo and an Anne et Valentin. 3 different people were helping me in the store and the service was excellent from all of them.
This store is easy going, they weren’t pushing to make any sales (which is something that is really important to me). I also found out they’ve been around for 35 years, worth checking this place out!

I absolutely adore the Optical Boutique! For so long I’ve been looking for funky, interesting, fashionable frames and sunglasses for myself but I was always let down by the lack of stores! Then I stumbled upon the Optical Boutique — and my glasses prayers were answered!
I love the statement pieces they carry! The brands going from THEO, to Gucci, to european brands that are so fabulous it’s refreshing!

I love changing up my look.
Im addicted to it.
I am always ready and eager to jump on board for a drastic change in my appearance.
I think my desire for visual change stems from being an identical twin.
Even at a very young age my twin, Sara, and I worked towards distinguishing visual differences between ourselves.
(We both have very different personalities and styles– Sara being more bohemian, subtle and ultra-​femme, and I drastic/​statement, subtle-​casual and edgy.)
Since I was in high school, I have always been drawn towards statement eye wear as I really envied how it can make a large impact in your personal style and presentation.
Glasses are fun accessories to change up your look from sexy librarian, to fierce 50s housewife, to chic nerd, to edgy glam.
Sara needs glasses to read and I have perfect vision with the exception of sun damage/​scarring that required me to wear eye SPF protection ²⁴⁄₇ — wearing my Ray Ban sunnies indoors and during the usual weather of RAINcouver is not an option.
One of the greatest frustrations and surprises we have both found was how difficult it was to find a unique and quality pair of frames. Everywhere I looked, the selection felt dull and never grabbed my attention long enough for me to put down a handful of dough, and lets face it, quality frames can be expensive.
At a recent JNBY South Granville showcase event, my sister and I met a über fabulous and chic woman named Sue who was wearing one of the best frames we had seen for a long time:
As we got to chatting we found that Sue is the owner of The Optical Boutique located in Kerrisdale. When we told her what we were looking for she invited us to visit and check out some frames that would make a statement while remaining within our personal styles.
Needless to say we loved the idea– she obviously understands and loves fashion and we figured that she must have some frames that would work for us.
One afternoon Sara and I made our way to Kerrisdale eager to met Sue at her cute and super busy boutique.
Immediately I felt like I was a kid in a candy store. So many colours, so many styles and so many looks to try!
After trying on multiple unique brands and frames, with the critical and savvy eye of Sue and her staff, I found a set of frames that totally suited me.
Theo frames –Soixante +1
Bold yet still functional enough to work with my entire wardrobe and style, these babies had my name all over them.
The fun thing about my frames is that they are from New York, and come in a wide range of bright and neutral colours. I usually stick to greys and blacks, but I had a hard time choosing one colour because they had so many!
Sue and her staff were amazing. Usually, I’m pretty wary of sales associates and since I have worked in the customer service and sales industry for years, I tend to be able to spot a liar from a mile away. With The Optical Boutique, I genuinely felt that they were honest in their opinions, and didn’t hesitate to tell me right away if something wasn’t right for me.

All you blind and vision impaired people out there, go check out Sue and her team.
You won’t regret it!

I was going to give it 1 star but I decided on 2 based on Fred who used to be there. He was so nice and patient.
The ownership changed awhile ago and I haven’t been back since I went in to look at some sunglasses. Did I look scruffy that day? I asked to see a pair of sunglasses and the new owner looked at me and said, «It’s expensive.»
Wow, she almost didn’t want to let me touch them.
