Really good artichoke dip and cheap beer. I love the patio in the back.

Honestly if you don’t like this place there is something wrong with you. $ 3.99 daily pint special with proper craft beer, solid bar food and a good spirits selection … Not sure what else you need. People who give it a 3 probably only frequent cactus club and Joeys thus should be treated as untrustworthy sources of info. T2 out

Friend and I ended up here on a wed night, did not know about the reg trivia night but we joined in and our team tied for 5th in the first round. Not bad for a random night. Happy hour goes till 8 and I fully recommend the spicy artichoke and provolone dip, mmm cheesy goodness. We will be back and next time we’ll try the risotto balls.

Amazing staff, amazing beer, amazing service. My local… Always a warm and friendly vibe. Great specials, good food. Check this place out. Mayuko is a star and makes this place what it is!

Great atmosphere, feels like a genuine pub. The only problem is the price, a sleeve(not a pint) is nearly 6 bucks for most or higher, before tax and tip. If it were a pint that would be fair bit for a sleeve that’s way too much. Daily specials are 3.99 but just 14oz. Food is good and fairly priced. Charging station for phones. Patio out back! Overall we go here kind of regularly, if pieces for pints were better we’d be here all the time.

Cheapest Balvennie 12 yr I’ve seen(like 6 bucks for a glass). Seems to be a lot of regulars. Bar food was good and devoured quickly. Service was lax but I think it would have been better sitting at the bar, since there was only the bartender there taking orders.

Great place! Food is yummy. I love the coco bun and bangers n mash. Have gone numerous times on a saturday night and the vibe is awsome! Of course the kareoke brings out a good mix of happy people who just wanna get drunk and sing the night away. But really haven’t heard any bad kareoke singers either. Place is small so its hard to move around but thats what brings all these strangers closer and eventually everyone starts talking to each other. Similar to a small town pub. I’ve even made friends from the brighton. Im also impressed with the only two staff members there every saturday night. Erin, she is able to handle it all and same with the one cook/bartender. I’ll keep coming back!

I highly recommend the bangers and mash! Your choice of one of three daily sausages from a local favorite Falconetti’s, garlic and peppercorn mash potatoes covered with a delicious stout gravy! Awesome! Warm friendly staff! The Brighton is a great local pub restaurant to frequent! There’s lots more food to enjoy!

It’s just sucks that place is awful. I’ve read over a dozen reviews from the last couple months and they all say the same things. The thieving bartenders is a new one, pretty funny too. I’m from this neighborhood, I love this neighborhood. So stoked to see a pub open for the first time in the hood. Came on a sunday afternooon, took almost 10 mins for the barman to even greet me. There were only 10 ppl in the bar and even more dirty glasses. Asked for a beer, said he ran out, just that type of day he said. I suppose they have a decent selection but I just wanted a beer and a bite. Beer came out semi cold, in a dirty glass. watched the guy leave the beer cooler door open almost the entire 30mins I was there. And the food was absolute shit. being in the industry for the last 15years my standards are high, but come on guys. I dont care if you serve buns from bianca maria’s, sausage from the polish house, meats and cheese from ugo’s and desserts from the optical/cake shop! Do it well, pub food is too easy to fuck up! Chicken sandwich with chips n salsa… just weak. Bun was crumbling, chicken portion couldnt have been more than 2 oz’s, watery bland salsa. The blonde bartender came in late for her shift, just a sign of whats to come. She stood around doing nothing when the back bar was an absolute mess. Didnt greet anyone or smile at all. Barely made eye contact with any of us at the bar. Left all the dirty glasses that were sitting on the bar and tables. I looked at her, smiled and gave her a nice hello… nothing…said it again… still nothing, then the guy next to me says hello and she waves and says hi to him!!! really??? This is the hospitality indursty isnt it? Anyways she stood there looking uncomfortable and unpleasant. I dread to think what her food tastes like if mine was shit and the guy made it. This is a not a place that should sell food, its not equipped or staffed to. She eventually changed the keg of the beer I had originally asked for, you mean you were too lazy to change the keg? After I had told you it was my first time in there. horrible service, warm beer, shit food, an absolute miss on all fronts. I really wanted to like these guys but they dont have a chance. The nut guy had better customer service skills than these ppl do.

Beer selection is good but food menu is limited(think home stove and microwave). Waitress don’t seem to care. Go elsewhere if u want service. This is possibly due to understaffing, since the lone bar girl double duty for cooking.

Always exciting when’s new business opens I the neighbourhood. This evening my husband and I made our second visit. On both occasions servers were relatively friendly, service was ok. What bugs me is the quality of the food and the price you pay. The first time we ordered nachos. It was as though our order was all of the tiny broken pieces at the bottom of the bag. It tasted fine so we let it go. This evening we ordered a Welsh tip or something of the sort. What arrived was a single piece of bread with a couple flakes of parsley on top and a little bit of melted cheese for six dollars. How do you politely to say to someone I feel like you’re seriously ripping me off?

Yay! Our ‘hood finally has another place to have a beer! This lil bar has a nice, warm vibe, I like the brick wall. I love that they serve Falconetti’s sausages, yum! They do a nice job with what they can for not having a «kitchen».. I am happy to say it is has great service so far. Refreshing! Not having to walk far from home is such a treat as I am used to having to commute to other neighbourhood’s for a drink. Thank you for being you and not trying to be another trendy cookie cutter pub!

discovered this new local pub(there aren’t many in the neighbourhood) and sauntered in for a drink. the former nut shop was kind of scary, so this is a pleasant replacement. it’s nothing special: decorated like a generic pub, kind of expensive drinks(but they have a great selection), and the menu isn’t anything to write home about. but it’s really awesome that they source most of their menu from the neighbourhood, and i have a lot of faith that this place is going to get better with time!

We’ve made a couple of visits to The Brighton for dinner and we’ll be back. Although the music might be a touch loud for us, the environment is comfortable, not too hipster or pretentious or modern or generic. Just comfortable for anybody who doesn’t feel like they need to be part of a scene. The food has been very good. We like that they source their products from the neighbourhood, so the flavours are full of character. It’s food you can relate to because it’s part of your community. The beer list isn’t vast but more than ample and has some interesting features. The whiskey list is pretty good. The service is very professional and welcoming. It will definitely be part of the mix of places we walk to regularly.

Not bad. This little pub just sprang up on Hastings one day… pretty sure the last business in this location sold nuts. …Seriously, a nut store. The Brighton is a pub devoid of all style. No youth vibe; no hipster style. Just a few generic Guiness prints on the walls and classic rock on the stereo — this kind of suites me just fine. The beer list is alright. The food isn’t great. Being devoid of anything truly remarkable is actually a good thing in this case. Too many place in this city try to capitalize on fads without any substance or experience to back it up. The Brighton serves beer, is open late, and the staff are warm and friendly. If you live on Main St, you should stay on Main St. If you live in the neighbourhood you should probably drink here.

The Brighton — the first(non-sports bar) proper pub on the east end of Hastings — is a promising start for a neighborhood in the midst if a revitalization. However, the pub has a few things to work on. First, the good: outstanding scotch selection, Classic British Pub décor, solid local beer selection on tap, and a promising menu with items like risotto balls, a sausage platter, and BBQ chicken sandwich. The not so good: questionable service(«I don’t bar tend», «hang on a minute while I load the dishwasher») and lack of a deep-fryer. Looking forward to a return visit, and hopefully a few small improvements.

Party of three said these neighbours with glee. Sat at a booth & had some vermouth.(okay, not really. I had a Strongbow & they had some beer) One ordered meat pie which I jealously eyed, my salad of chicken because gluten-free makes for slim pickin’ Another had a wrap which landed in his lap. The server was kind and helped us unwind. The game was on the tube and to the music we grooved. When it was done, I’d say we had fun. We’ll be back for some more next week or before. This new neighbourhood pub with it’s simple grub is bound to succeed if it puts on the feed.

I want to love this place. I really do. It’s just a block from home, and there are so few pubs/bars in the area. I work in the industry and recognize they’ve only been open a month; they’ve got some kinks to iron out. The menu is hurting. I like the local approach, but they need to define what it is they are offering. Pub food? Do it well. It’s a little peculiar that they’re cooking behind the bar, but obviously they’ve tried to creatively accommodate despite space restrictions. I had the bangers and mash; pretty tasty, I’ve had Falconettis sausages at Falconettis. Didn’t disappoint. The mash was very good. The portion size though was really small. Like, appetizer small. Or kids menu small. I don’t want/need some super size Denny’s Diner portion. But I did want/need dinner. Great beer list, draft and bottles; good work there. Beer specials every day. Again, good stuff. Scotch and bourbon, on point; kudos. If the server hadn’t botched my Old Fashioned, I would’ve been a lot happier. Just tell me you don’t know how to make it, and I’ll order another beer instead. Service was pretty weak all around. There weren’t more then 20 people in the room at any given time, but empty glasses abound and guests looking for a server. DON’T let people go thirsty, or they’ll make it over to the Drive. I’ll give them another shot in a couple weeks. I really want it to be awesome. I really do.

Popped in here for a quick drink with a friend. I must say I was disappointed when i went to order a blueberry tea and the waitress didn’t know it was made with alcohol but was quick to say she could look it up. The chair I sat in was wobbly and felt like it might fall apart any minute. I will give the place a second chance because I really want to love it.
