The great: flavour! Tofu thom kah tasted so fragrant. Also the tofu was not fried in the soup. Perfect! Tofu lettuce wraps amazing also. The good: coconut rice. Just maybe a bit more coconut, please. The awkward: the server kept coming by to serve me my soup. I like to decide what amount of tofu and broth :-) Overall: fantastic!!! Great atmosphere. Well-paced service. Friendly environment. Thank you!

The food is average, the services need improvement … I had been to other thai houses in the lower mainland but this one by far disappointed me mostly…

I’ve previously reviewed this place and generally like its food and atmosphere. What I’m reviewing now is its Dine Out menu, which I had yesterday, and is very disappointing. The main problem is the portion sizes, which are laughable, aren’t enough to fill two people, and aren’t worth $ 18pp. What’s even more frustrating is that for $ 4pp more, you can have their menu for two, which includes two apps, two mains, rice & dessert at FULL size. The other annoying thing was the server brought us the bill before having to be reminded to bring our desserts. And, he left the rice out of our doggy bags, leaving us with just veg. I’m not being picky, I just don’t want to feel gypped, be rushed, or waste food. It’s been a while since I’ve Dined Out but I don’t remember any issues. If all it’s become is a way for restaurants to hoop people with third rate food, best to avoid it and just pay for what you really want.

Easily one of the least appetizing Thai experiences I have ever had. Avoid basically anything with meat or curry.

During my week in Vancouver, I again got the craving for Thai, and happened to be walking by Thai House at the cravings peak. A quick sneak at Unilocal showed it to be worth venturing in… I was seated quickly, ordered a cold beer, and checked out the menu. Once again, though, I went to the ol’ standby of yellow curry with chicken, just to check out the authenticity. I ordered it über-spicy, and a side of Thai peppers to drive the point home. And… guess what… it worked! I actually got a bowl of well spiced curry — and a curry that tasted VERY much like what I’d get in Phuket. Sold!!! In fact, the only real diss was my waiter. Very much a prima donna who felt that this job was clearly beneath him. Took a bit away from the almost perfect experience… That aside, you’ll certainly get an authentic, delish Thai meal here… go and enjoy.

I’m surprised that I haven’t frequented this place as much even though I live right in the neighbourhood. On a sunny but cold Sunday headed here for lunch and the place was quite empty. The service is friendly and fast and pad thai was delicious. The portion size is great, lots to munch on and they didn’t overload you with noodles and forgot the shrimp which some other Thai places tend to do. Overall, this is a good Thai joint with lots of room and long opening hours to satisfy your Thai craving.

Went for dinner at 700pm on a Sat nite. Not busy at all. Service was quick & wait staff friendly. Had a Tom yum soup for one, prawns with Basil & red & green peppers, coconut rice, fried bananas with coconut ice cream. Total came to 31.00. Not bad, but the food is definitely mediocre. Fried banana were oily & double fried. If there was a 2.5 rating, I would give it that.

I was looking for a good thai restaurant to take visitors who come and visit us in Van. AVOID the PADTHAI!!! I’m a huge Pad Thai fan, and always say its one of those meals that is hard to mess up but the Chicken Pad Thai I had at Thai House was the worst I have ever eaten! I knew as soon as they brought it out that it was going to be off because it was a red/pink color. Literally tastes like they put a cup of Ketchup in the sauce. SOOOOO sweet, and saucy. I really tried to eat it but I couldn’t, so I had it sent back to the kitchen. They didn’t offer to make me something else in its place, and even continued to charge me for the $ 13(around that) Pad Thai. I didn’t complain about charging me for it, I just WILLNOTEVERCOMEBACK to this restaurant. Also, the ambiance could use some updating, not fancy, kind of run down. *if you still do decide to eat here go for the: Fried Rice, Tom Kha soup

My wife and I were in the mood for some Thai food and we came upon their lunch specials. Now I can only speak for their pad thai and service. I thought the service was very friendly and exceptional. In addition, the pad thai came with an egg roll which was good. For the pad thai itself it was above average and was a good dish but wasn’t the best I ever had. Overall the restaurant met expectations.

I like going here with my husband for their weekday lunch specials, which consist of a small bowl of hot and sour soup, an egg roll and your choice of a chicken/beef/pork entrée in various sauces. At $ 7.99 per special, it is a pretty good deal. The service is also very good here as they get you your food quick and are great at refilling your drinks. However, I would have given them more stars if their food was more consistent. We always order the same lunch special entrée when we visit and each time the flavour as well as the amount ingredients in the main dish can vary significantly. It seems that when it is a really busy lunch hour, we end up getting half the amount of food we would get on other occasions when it was more quiet. The flavour can be quite random as it is apparent that their different cooks do not take a consistent approach to flavouring or preparing the ingredients. Despite this lack of consistency, we still go two or three times a month — each time in the hope that the restaurant isn’t too busy and the right cook is there that day.

I would really like to give this place a better rating because it’s a nice location and the service was quite good, but the food was so sub-par for the price that it’s hard to look past. From reading the other reviews they seem to have some wicked lunch deals, so perhaps I’ll go back and find I should add a star or two? Who knows. I ordered the vegetarian pad thai, which honestly barely tasted like pad thai at all. Had I been doing a blind taste test I would not have been able to identify it. It was absolutely drenched in a very sweet, pink sauce. It wasn’t horrible but it was by no means great.. . or, well, good. Now for the GOOD! Their drink menu is absolutely awesome and perfectly executed! Holy smokes, I just wanted to try everything on their drink menu. My friend got a Bangkok Caesar(I think it was called?) that was made with Sake, and I got a piña colada type drink — both excellent. All of the people working were very kind and attentive so despite the food quality I still tipped well. I would like to go back to give them another shot, but I think if you go a few blocks East on Robson you’ll find much better Thai.

Most Thai restaurants don’t make the green curry too spicy but it is here. Make sure you order an extra beer or glass of water. I just tried Singha and it’s so so. Get spring rolls to start they’re yummy.

Wasn’t my choice to come here… I was looking to score some lunch time food truck action(usually now able to… so thought this was a good time)… wife veto’d my decision and we headed to Thai House instead. The food was fine… the price was good enough for the food… which was good enough for the price. Nothing wow’d me… I’d maybe go back again for a lunch special… but if I was fixing for a GREAT Thai meal… it didn’t really put itself there with this visit. So… lunch… sure… .dinner, not so sure.

Came here for a weekday lunch and was surprised to see the place packed. Who knew the had a lunch menu? Not me! While I’m pretty sure it’s all stock food(meat + veggies + curry, a bowl of rice, spring rolls, soup that seems like a waterier version of the spring roll sauce), you can’t be the quick service. We were in and out within the hour, perfect for the business peeps looking for something classier than Red Robin and different from Earls. The 2-pepper curry was a bit of a disappointment — it was milder than the hot and sour soup. Service was quick for the most part, though we had to chase down people to refill water. I can’t really blame them though, with the number of customers they had. They’ve got a bit more variety on their regular menu, and the pad thai favourite isn’t a lunch special. But for $ 8, it’s a good way to fill up regardless.

Came here to check out their lunch specials, after hearing several reviews. As this is Robson, there is only street parking available. To get here, you have to go up a narrow staircase. Not sure about the other locations, but this place has a $ 8 lunch special. There are some 20 entrees you can pick for this(beef, chicken, pork, vegetarian) so there’s something for everyone. It also comes with some sweet soup(it was tasty but definitely not authentic) and a spring roll. Service is reasonably quick, and they gave us our water refills regularly. But if there is 1 complaint about this place, it is the fact that the place is super-cramped. But that is not the fault of the establishment. The place filled up completely while we were there. This is definitely one of the better deals in town. Be sure to check it out.

I love Thai food. The flavours, the smells, the spices… I could eat Thai food every day and not get bored of it. The Thai House restaurant chain serves up some really good food at all of their locations(and I’ve tried them all!) but the one on Robson is close to my office, so it’s the one I frequent most often. The restaurant itself is not that nice inside with regard to the décor. It’s outdated and very plain, but I’m not there for the ambiance — I’m there for the food! The lunch special is awesome. For $ 7.50 you get a spring roll, a bowl of hot & sour soup, and your choice of lunch entrée, which comes with steamed rice and salad. My favourite is the #21 — chicken with jalepanos, eggplant & basil. The portion is very generous and the flavours are amazing. Just the right amount of heat for me. I’ve also ordered several other dishes here and some of my favourites are the shrimp-stuffed eggplant, the pineapple fried rice with prawns, the green curry chicken and also the house special seafood curry combination. I love that they don’t overcook the veggies in their dishes and the seafood is always good. I’ll keep going back here as long as they keep up the good food!

I’m still recovering in terms of time-zone differences from a week-long vacation with family halfway around the world, so when I realized at 3:30 pm that I was ravenously hungry, the Boy was saddled with the problem of his girlfriend’s voracious and ill-timed appetite. Our first choice, Guu, was not yet open [it would open a few hours later for dinner] and he wanted deep fried bananas, so to Thai House we went. Their portions are very generous, you will not leave hungry for sure! We ordered a pad see-ew and the deep fried bananas with mango ice cream. The pad see ew came with lots of juicy bits of chicken and broccoli. Unfortunately I found it to be a little on the salty side, and not as sweet as I’ve had at other Thai restaurants. There were TWO deep fried bananas, and they went lovely with the ice cream, although the option of coconut ice cream might be even better. I tried their Royal Thai drink, which is minced lychee and coconut milk; it was quite refreshing but also had a lot of ice in it which meant that of the portion in the cup I didn’t drink a lot of it since I don’t like to chew ice(sensitive teeth). I probably wouldn’t rush back here, but if I am back then the fried bananas are on the menu for sure, maybe not the pad see-ew; i’ll try a different noodle next time.

I was STARVING !!! So myself, my bf, and 2 other friends were on our way to eat when someone suggested Thai House, I had never been there and it was steps away from where i live. The place itself looked like it could use a bit of a make over and it was a bit chilly but it was the food i was interested in. Ordered the drink special which was a sangria and it wasnt too impressive. Either was the Pina Colada but thats where the dispointment stopped. We ordered the dinner for 4 this included –Thai Spring rolls –Chicken Satay with Peanut sauce –Boneless Chicken in red curry sauce(served in a coconut) –Pad Thai noodles that had a TON of shrimp –Ginger Beef with vegetables –Mixed Vegetableswith Prawns and oyster sauce –Jasmin Rice –Mango ice cream It was the PERFECT amount of food for 4 people and the vegetables were cooked to perfection It was only $ 76 and the service was very fast I will be back indeed. -

I was pretty excited to go to Thai House having read pretty good reviews(not including the one below me). So having a super big craving for pad thai, I thought Thai House was going to be a hit. On a rainy Sunday evening, the restaurant was maybe 1⁄3 full. We ordered the Traditional Pad Thai and the Duck Curry served in a «young coconut,» and deep fried bananas with mango ice cream. I confirmed with a waiter to make sure it was going to be a coconut. and he said yes. A minute later, he told me the duck was out so I would need to rethink my food choice but I told him to serve up the Pad Thai because we were starving… Before I had even decided what to get, the Pad Thai was here. I selected the Lamb Loins(served in a young coconut) and the waiter said that it might have been out of stock as well… um. what type of restaurant is this… Luckily they had it and I could still enjoy it in the coconut. When it came out however, I was so sad. not seriously. my heart dropped: 1. It was NOT served in a coconut!!! I was so angry to even say anything anymore. I was hungry and this was just unimaginable — i DOUBLECHECKED!!! 2. The curry was over watery 3. One lamb loin was undercooked, the other was completely burnt, making it unedible, not to mention full of fat. During dinner, the waiter came by once close to the end of the meal to refill our waters. Then he asked if wanted any tea or coffee like we were ready for the bill. Clearly he forgot we ordered dessert so I had to remind him. The bananas were over deepfried in my opinion, luckily my bf didn’t mind it. The ice cream was fine, with a little bit of freezer burn. So much for celebrating :(
