Best. Indian. In. Town. Period. The meat is impeccably done, every time. I have been here about a dozen times over the past three years and the way they cook the meat never ceases to amaze me. Service is uninspiring. It’s not bad, it’s reasonably attentive, but they are sort of going through the motions. If I could I’d take a half star off, as service is important to me, but I won’t lose any sleep giving them the full 5. Value is good. For $ 25 you can have two pints of beer, some fantastic meat, rice and naan. You will leave fulfilled. If in doubt, the cliché butter or tandoori chicken will not disappoint.

Went back and it looks like it’s now under new management. The restaurant exterior has received a new paint job and the staff have changed. Still a family run restaurant but the curries do taste different, not as stellar as they were before.

The food is AWESOME. Really, some of the best Indian you can get in the Punjab market area. But know there’s a WORLD of difference between the Tandoori King and the«Original» Tandoori King. The«Original» is NOT the first one — the two restaurants’ owners were partners, had an argument or something, and the two restaurants are right around the corner from each other. The korma, for instance, is totally different at the two, but this is the one I prefer. They make GREAT naan bread. The Tikka masala is a dear friend’s favourite, another absolutely loves the vindaloo. They serve goat. It’s really fantastic, authentic food — nothing to say on that. BUT… Delivery? I’ve had it take two hours. Don’t do that. Pick it up. Service? Nonplussed, grouchy, not very good. Food? WORTHEVERYGODDAMNEDBIT of surlyness! Yum! Get takeout, get some great beer or wine, and have a fantastic meal. I bribe friends to help paint my house with their food as the reward. It’s that kinda«oooh, well, OKAY» joint.

This use to be my regular spot for take out. The food is always great and for the most part affordable. Unfortunately I moved out of the area, but sometimes still make the drive. If you’re looking for some good Indian food, I highly recommend Tandoori King.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm… this is a great spot to hit up for tasty fresh Indian food… Not super heavy or oily and polite and courteous service(something a little hard to find these days). Anyway, you can’t go wrong when you are jones’n for some korma and rice… The stuffed naan is the best ever and I love the Chicken Masala and Chicken Korma. Someone’s mother is working hard in the kitchen because this food has some TLC in it! Great for take out as well and their menu is in the phone book. Having scoped out a few places in South Hill, I can tell you this is fresh yummy food! The place is nothing fancy, but it is clean… besides, who cares when your main goal is to get all that saucy goodness all over your face… :)

Tandoori king on Fraser has all the elements of a family-run East Indian Restaurant. Our server was dressed in traditional Sari. The décor is an after thought, and has not changed in a while, but let that not take away with what I think is one of the best tasting Indian food in Vancouver. I would measure an Indian restaurant on two things, their Naan and the Bitter Chicken; both are excellent. I would not stop there however, almost everything that I had was excellent, even though some dishes are a little too rich for me, they where great. The Tanori is good and the portions are fair. It is best to go with a group of 4 or more and share a variety of dishes, other wise choosing from the extensive menu is the hard part as we have not been disappointed with any item. There is nothing pretentious about this place it feels honest, you go there for the food, it seems that others agree as its fairly busy with a great mix of westerners and East Indian Patrons.
