From the beautiful photos and reviews I ordered a pavlova from this bakery. When I picked it up I was worried and it seemed so heavy. In fact, it was sodden and flattened and when I opened the box to serve it… a lot of liquid ran out of the box and all over the floor. The flavour was ok, but the texture was soooo far off what it should be that I would never return. The bakery now has a new name and clearly there has been an ownership change.

Normally I’m not a huge fan of sweets, but Sweet William’s is quite good. Parking is available inside the City Square lot. Not sure if this store is on the list of places that will reimburse 1h of parking. The store itself is tucked away inside the food court, off to 1 side. You do have to look for it. I wish I could tell you more. Their claim to fame is the paklova. This has to be one of the lightest and fluffiest cakes I have ever had. It tastes like one giant puffy light marshmallow. The fruit on top was tasty as well. This would make a great alternative to some of the established cake places such as Anna’s.

Fresh from Dim Sum upstairs of City Square at Kirin, I was enticed to try out this new cake called a Pavlova Cake(New to me not new to the world). After eating it, I checked it out on the net to see that it is a Aussie/Kiwi dish. So we hooked about 5 people to come and enjoy pavlova with me, to which everyone said, OMG you haven’t tried Pavlova cake before?(I know poor me, I clearly haven’t lived) Sweet Williams Dessert Shop is located in the«Food Court» of City Square, so we look at the case to see the variety of desserts they carried, and proceeded to order the single serving of the cake… Unfortunately for us they didn’t have a 5 single serving slices of the cake. Fortunately for us, they did have a an medium sized round pavlova cake. Now, picture this: I have no idea what this cake is, I am told it is delicious, and light but when I looked at the cake, it was a menacing medium sized cake, and there were 5 of us, and on top of that, we were going to pillage it right in the middle of the food court! The owner then claimed that he has seen two people eat the same size cake on their own! My inner salesman was shocked at his crazy claim! So against what I perceived as my better judgement, we purchased the cake(under $ 20) and borrowed a knife, and some plates and forks, sat down at a food court table, and cut out some serious, healthy portions. I was shocked to taste this airy, lightweight fresh fruit, and not too much whip cream combo! I was fooled by the meringue like«cake» layers that looked like white pound cake to the virgin pavlova cake eaters. It was delicious! It wasn’t too sweet! It was airy! fluffy! and my massive piece was reduced to nothing in a matter of seconds! I now know how 2 people can eat the whole cake, not that I would recommend that. So I chalk up another score to a good delicious dessert!

Fantastic and delectably light Pavlovas. I also love their Blueberry Cheesecake and i can eat a whole Pecan Pie here and and and… I think they think I’m a bit of a freak here because I’m always drooling as I look at their sweet goodies to choose from. What I’m trying to say here as I wipe my drool off the back of my hand is that it’s GOOD here! Totally drool-worthy.

my boyfriend is a kiwi, and so I thought while he was visiting I’d get some pavlova since it’s a national delight. I heard of sweet e’s and sweet williams as the two places to go. And so we checked out sweet williams. First of all this dessert was BEAUTIFUL. I mean, their presentation was incredible. Flowers made of peach slices, layered with fresh kiwi and and strawberries, with a delicious flaky looking toasted meringue on the outside. little peaks of whipped cream on top… Ugh. It looked incredible Cutting into it, the middle was a delicious, soft fluffy meringue that melted on your tongue. It was the perfect sweetness, the perfect flakiness, and I had a hard time not eating the whole thing myself. I asked my boyfriend if it were as good as his grandma’s pavlova and he said it was. I was actually shocked, since you know, most things away from home don’t taste as good as home, and this one he said tasted just as incredible. All in all presentation, taste, price($ 21,99 for an 8″ pavlova that served about 9 people with leftovers…) 5⁄5 stars.

Want to bring the perfect summer time dessert? You have to try Sweet William’s pavlova. Conveniently located in City Square, I’ve been going here for years when I want to pick up something other than cake or pie for dessert– its always a hit! Their pavlova is a heavenly cloud of soft, melt-in-your mouth meringue covered with whip cream and fruit. Its a perfect summer dessert that’s not too sweet and so lite you won’t even notice you’ve eaten any until your plate is disappointingly empty. They sell pavlova in the form of cakes, logs and individual portions($ 3.75). I’ve never tried any of their other sweet treats(cookies, squares, cakes) because the pavlova is the main attraction.
