I’ve been going to Sonny for several years now. He has a knack of looking at a person’s facial structure and styling a cut that is well suited. He also keeps up with fashion trends and beside all that, he is entertaining and I always come away feeling uplifted. If someone is looking to update their style, or maybe refresh a current one, Sonny will make you look like a million bucks. I know he has clients that have been with him for 30+ years. That kind of loyalty is telling. I won’t trust my hair with anyone else; he’s as good as it gets.

This is without question the best hair salon in Vancouver. An only known by locals spot, Sonny Chan is a hair wizard. And the most fun person you’ll ever have perfecting your coif. A former Suki’s employee, Sonny began his own salon ages ago (think: my Mum was pregnant with me when she started seeing him) and his new location on 1^st and Fir boasts wall to ceiling windows looking out at the mountains. The art on the walls is his own!
He isn’t pushy but knows how to make you look better even if you don’t and he’ll create the perfect hair colour for you even if it isn’t a standard colour. His coworkers, Paul and Karen are delightful and equally gifted and they are very attentive to your needs, whether it be a coffee, a magazine, an unjudging ear and (once for me!) a sandwich. I would not trust another soul with my hair. He is extremely popular amongst locals so be sure to book well in advance! You’ll never let another person near your hair again.
