Delicious food and nice music, and manager is a really nice guy!

Came by on a Wednesday evening to grab a quick meal with a Social Shopper voucher. The male waiting our table advised the voucher was not valid for the items listed on the voucher. After checking with the manager, they honoured the voucher… never had that experience before. I ordered the Seven’s Ultimate Beef Burger & it was a fairly typical pub burger. Unfortunately we found the establishment quiet dirty and with the unpleasant experience with the wait staff, we can not recommend this establishment nor will we be returning.

I went to Seven Dining Lounge on Saturday with a friend who was redeeming a groupon voucher. Despite being the dinner hour on a Saturday in Vancouver, there was only one table with diners at it. We were in time for their happy hour, which is good for discounted beer and appetizers, but I’m not sure which appys because we only asked about the chicken wings and were told that they aren’t included in the happy hour :(. Tried to order a veggie burger but was told that the groupon is for the beef burger only. After the server explained this, a man, maybe the manager came out to explain it again by saying«you read it wrong». I was given the option to pay a $ 2.50 upcharge for the veggie burger, which seemed strange since the veggie burger is $ 1.00 cheaper on the menu. The burger was decent, but the fries were terrible and I’ve got to assume that they were made way in advance of our arrival. I didn’t enjoy any part of this experience. The service, the food, the funky smell were really good indicators as to why the place was empty on a Saturday night, while on happy hour and running a Groupon for nearly half price food.

The organic beef burger with crazy thick bacon was delicious, and the fries were cooked to a level of perfection I haven’t had for a while. The wait staff on the other hand were rather atrocious. Taking one or 2 people’s order at a table of 4 is unacceptable, especially when the others are looking directly at the server waiting to place their order. Burger was delicious though, delicious.

I went here this past Sunday night with a friend, intentionally going early to avoid the show at 8pm. Nothing against the entertainment, but we wanted to catch up and talk, so a noisy environment wasn’t what we wanted. We arrived at 6pm right when they opened. A woman sitting by the entrance was taking donations for the upcoming show and there was a bit of confusion as to who was serving us, as a few people were walking around and I couldn’t tell who was who(aside from the guy behind the bar, but he was on the phone). We sat down and one of the guys walking around brought us menus, but said, «your server is busy, so I’m helping out». Not sure if he worked there, or if he was part of the entertainment, but it was nice of him to do that. We were browsing the menu when the bartender came out to see if we wanted drinks to start — and we ordered a couple of the happy hour specials($ 4 beer & highballs) as well as our appetizers. We had a Groupon for dinner, but ordered an extra appy as they are on for just $ 5 before 7pm. Great deal! All in all, I thought the food was ok — the salmon was actually really delicious and cooked perfectly, but the spaetzle that came with it was overcooked and dried out. The calamari was pretty good, as was the chicken satay. We had to pay an extra charge($ 2 or something) for the salmon entrée, as it is more expensive than most of their entrées. The only problem I had with the experience is that the entrées arrived before we were finished with our appetizers and the server was trying to place the plates down in front of us while we were still eating. Generally, you don’t bring the main dish until after clearing the appy plates, so I’m not sure who screwed up — the server or the kitchen staff — but I did not appreciate being rushed through my meal. It seems like a pretty decent place to go for live entertainment, though. If they can correct some of the blunders we experienced, I’m sure it will be a good place to return.

The food is OK. Typical pub food. I purchased a groupon for 4. The place is very noisy and not very busy. I came at 6:30 and got the last rib. They should make more per day. I was told they ran out the day before and it takes couple hours to make. The rib had a spicy kick to it. Not my style of rib. I ordered honey garlic wings and the wings doesn’t taste like honey garlic. It taste like super sweet teryaki. As well the place had a really awkward smell to it. Don’t think I will be going back

My main problem with this place is that it isn’t a dining lounge… It’s a bar and a music venue, something there is far too little of in this city these days. Never mind what all the crabby crumudgeons and cheapos with their coupon clipping ‘give me the world for free’ attitudes have to say! I’m sure there’s some melodramatic exaggeration going on. I’ve literally sat next to people I know doing the same thing. Whatever… We all deal with our sh*% differently. I also liked how the two people who were obviously together have conflicting stories. A good example of the worst side of Unilocal. One says they were passed off to another server, the other says their server sat down on their phone for 20 minutes ignoring them. Maybe the server was done or on break? Meanwhile they sat there hating looking for stuff to complain about… S’what it sounds like to me… Anyway… Who knows… This place is great for what it is! Super friendly staff, good times and an eclectic variety of bookings almost every night of the week. Sure it ain’t perfect but they’ve fixed the bathrooms and have great happy hour deals. But again… Dining lounge… Idunno. Food is good. Pub fare, couple nice entrees. Ribs are delicious and a nice big portion, etc… I honestly don’t know what some of these reviewers are talking about with ‘no clearly posted cover’ either? They have a big sign out front everyday when I walk by that says the show and how much it is. I know people almost always just leave Unilocal reviews when their panties are in a bunch so I thought someone should speak up for rest of us who enjoy this place and really appreciate the work they put in to making live music in vancouver happen. I’ve had so many good nights here and met lots of good people who feel the same. Keep it up Seven! Haters gonna hate!

This place was the equivalent to dining experience hell. My partner and I made the regrettable decision to buy a social shopper online that was redeemable at 7 Dining Lounge for two burgers, drinks, and chicken wings, as well as «two sides.» The fine print fails to mention that you have to pay cover literally EVERY night at this lounge. Upon arriving and submitting to the 6 $ a piece cover to watch a «live performance» we were disappointed to see that the show we paid for was the performers eating at a table near the stage. After placing our order with the increasingly hostile server, we were literally neglected the whole evening. I actually watched our server picking his nose while on his cellphone sitting in a chair across the room for a good twenty minutes. Absolutely disgusting. The food was lacklustre and passable at best. There were no sides. The service was not only crap, but also unsanitary and revolting. The bathroom looked like something you would see in a horror movie. Its a blessing my partner and I made it out of there with only mild indigestion and not full on food poisoning.

Giving this place even one star was difficult for me. I came here with my family because an old friend was performing at this restaurant. Not only did we wait over an hour for our food, but when we asked the waitress why our food was taking so long, instead of apologizing to us and telling us that she would check on our order, she stated that there was nothing she could do because there was only one cook today. My sister and I ordered a pasta dish to share, and my mom and dad both ordered a salad. In what world does it make sense for a salad to take over an hour? If you are going to take over an hour for a salad, it better be fantastic. Unfortunately, this was not the case here. My mom’s salad came with brown avocados. And when I say brown avocados, I don’t mean it was just a bit brown in a few spots. I mean that each avocado slice was brown on all surfaces. My mom pointed this out to the waitress, and she replied saying that these were the only avocados they had left. Our whole family was beyond fed up with the lack of service at this point, and upon realising how bad the salad that she had waited over an hour was, my mom asked the waitress to cancel her order. My dad, being the guy that he is and not wanting to cause a fuss, just quietly ate his salad. My sister and I’s pasta dish was extremely average. Definitely a dish that her and I could whip up ourselves. Furthermore, their menu needs to be changed! There is so little variety. The only upside to this dining experience was that I got to see my friend perform. We drove to Sun Sui Wah after this to get a few more dishes, because the meal here left us feeling unfulfilled, and we didn’t want to end our family night out, on a bad note.

Ok, this is my second review of this place… I can’t believe I went back but did so because a friend insisted. I have to tell you, my first review was over the top harsh and I actually went back and tempered it. In hindsight I shouldn’t have because you would then see how this one is actually an improvement. Unlike my first visit, this time my table was clean, the floor wasn’t slippery and the food was delivered in a reasonable time. The down side? Ugly, ugly washrooms, a very limited menu, overpriced, mediocre food, a screwed up bill and zero smiles. So, I’ve given this place 2 chances to deliver and they have come up short, both times. Maybe it’s because I expect more. The website, menu pictures and even the sign make me think Yaletown, not Broadway and Ontario. Sorry folks, an improvement, but still I can’t quite spring for a three stars.

I came here cuz friends wanted too. I was appalled at the lack of customer service! 1st, they didn’t have what I wanted, and then I finally ordered a side of «sausage» which was a chorizo sliced in 10 small pieces-nothing else. No dip, nothing! My friend had the beef poutine, which I almost ordered, until I tried hers! The potato wedges she ordered were burnt, and there was hardly any cheese curds. Needless to say, I did not order them!(shocker!!!) She waited at LEAST an hour for it!!! So I’ve been here for about 2 hours, and not ONCE did ANY server ask how I was doing!!! I had to go to the bar for water, after waiting over an hour for some sort of service. I guess I’ll just haveta get another drink from the bartender, cuz I don’t think waiting an hour is acceptable!!! I will NEVER willingly come back, and I don’t recommend you try it!

You know that piece of wisdom that goes: «check the restroom of any restaurant you want to eat at — if it’s filthy, you don’t want to eat there!» Yup. The restroom at 7 Dining Lounge reeks of urine, it’s covered in a thin film of grime, the fixtures are old and/or broken, and are not accessible. The food is overpriced and(usually) bland. I most-recently ordered the braised brisket poutine — it was essentially a salty bowl of slop with soggy potato wedges and very little cheese curds. I also had the chai crème brûlée and it was quite lackluster. The waitstaff are very aloof and downright bothered that you require further service. Trying to get refills on anything other than beer seems to be an insurmountable task. The only redeeming qualities are the sound during live music events and the friendly bartender. Other than that, save your time and money and go elsewhere.

They charge cover without clearly advertising it upon entering the restaurant. Poor beer selection.

I came here ’cause I am a crème brule whore, hands down with no apologies. I checked out their menu and noticed that they were serving chai spiced crème brule. Two of my favorite words… chai and crème brule. The chai flavor notes were very prominent. I didn’t have intentions of staying past dessert, however, I was inspired with a good conversation with the bartender who was close to my age chatting about politics of the city. I arrived at 5 pm, just as they were opening their doors, therefore, was the first one in and had the place to myself. The place is not fancy but not ghetto either. Somewhere in between. The minute you walk in you notice that the tables are 2 — 3 long tables instead of 2 or 4 seaters, forcing Vancouver *gasp* to be social. The washrooms are small. The toilet is so old that there are instructions to tell you how to flush… good sign. I had the mushroom wrapped in rice paper which was both gluten free and vegan. I appreciate that it wasn’t fried and that it was somewhat healthy, however, the rice paper seemed a little over boiled and hard to cut through, therefore, this ended up being a finger food. The dish needed a little more salt or some other seasonings to make the dish«pop.» The prices were okay for the dish for what it was, however, realistically considering what was actually plated(which was awesome on the presentation) it should’ve been $ 2 — $ 3 less. I wanted to stay for some soap, however, was a bit annoyed with the consistent feedback of the band trying to do sound check that I had to leave. I was getting a headache. The experience was pleasant due to the conversation and crème brule… minus points on the dish and feedback of the band tuning.

the food was amazing! loved the salmon, moist and seasoned to perfection. The beef satay was also tasty with a real kick to it. I would recommend it.
