The place is small and so is the selection, however, they have a decent selection of pre-seasoned frozen crab cakes. I picked up a 6 pack for a party next week. Great prices and the customer service was very friendly.

Hate to disappoint ya… but they no longer do fresh sushi. What a bummer. After reading the FTR, I was looking forward to it too. They do carry refrigerated sushi you can take home and slice up yourself, but it’s not the same, you know? Instead, what they do offer is fresh fish caught that morning. Sometimes I pick up the shelled, deveined shrimp in their refrigerated section — great for pastas and stir-fry…in fact they have tons to choose from: crab cakes, salmon cakes, gyoza, lobster tail, andddd… strangely enough, you can also find non-seafood items like free-range chicken. But I prefer picking up my meats fresh next door at *the butcher.*

A Japanese-Canadian friend who grew up a few blocks away from this place recently recommended its sushi. Like most people, I would not have guessed this apparent fish shop would be a source of delicious, made to order sushi. Most people and I would be wrong. I popped in with out of town guests for a snack this afternoon, so I haven’t had a chance to fully experience their offerings just yet… But, what we did sample was phenomenal. The menu is not as extensive as many places in town, but I suspect that’s in the service of quality control. There are only three kinds of sashimi: wild salmon, tuna, marinated tuna. Really, what other kinds do you need? Both the wild salmon and tuna were some of the best I’ve had.(My friends also raved about their spicy tuna and scallop rolls.) There’s nowhere to sit inside this fish shop, so don’t plan to bring a date here. In a hurry, we ate ours on the bus stop bench outside(I suspect this is not uncommon), but I think the ideal venue for this food would be at sunset on Spanish Banks, just down the hill.
