This Safeway is in busy mall in Kerrisdale. I’m always amazed at the terrific service, the neighborhood has a lot of older clients and for a good reason. Guests are treated as valued clients, at customer service, at the checkout and when we need help. Five stars is all I can give BUT they deserve much more. Andy at the checkout is one of the mot helpful, kind employees of all

I like this Safeway. I grew up in this hood and used to go to this Safeway all the time back in the old days. When there were no other grocery store around in the hood and Safeway was the only option. Well the other option is to drive 30 mins to another grocery store. Every time I walk in here, it brings back childhood memories. Came in here recently and I found some pretty good deals here. Like scallop and gyoza, which were on sale. But other than that this Safeway is spacious to walk in. I like it. Yes it can get pretty busy at times and its because it is connected to a mall. There is free parking underneath. Also there is a deli section, Starbucks inside, florist area and basically what you expect a Safeway to have. I like this Safeway and will come back!

Don’t come to use Western Union services here since you can receive up to $ 200, but you can send more than that?!(Greed). Certainly the place is overpriced and there are not many REAL deals. Only good side or benefit: open til midnight. Lifesaver in case of emergency + very close to train station.

This place is usually over-priced unless there are sales which I rarely even notice. They sell fresh fruits, vegetables, canned goods, bakery, frozen food, seafood etc. There is a Starbucks located inside this Safeway. Line-up at cashiers is always too long. I usually just buy bread here at the very most. The only convenient thing about this Safeway is it is located at Oakridge Center.

Multiple visits and encounters and I can safely say that all the staff here are not nice at all. Pouty and rude. You even upset my mother, who is the most patient woman in this world. Shame on you.

I wanted to highlight the bakery section of Safeway, in particular, the Donuts. If you didn’t already know, Safeway makes awesome Donuts. They have the usual suspects like long johns, glazed and Apple fritters. BUT, they also have a great assortment of more«exotic» flavours as well. For example, they have one called Maple Bacon which is a Maple syrup-like glaze topped with bacon bits. Another one is the black forest. A new one I recently discovered is called the«Cro-nut», the lovechild from a croissant and donut one night stand. And, there are seasonal specialties too for Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas. Best of all, the price. Regular price starts at 79¢ per donut. BUT, if you go after 7pm, they are half off. Meaning you can get a regular donut for less than four dimes! Specialty Donuts like the Maple Bacon are a bit more but also go for half off after 7pm. In my opinion, the Donuts at Safeway are as good if not better than even Lucky’s Donuts on Mainstreet, a place that specializes in Donuts and pastries. Give Safeway a try next time your inner Homer Simpson manifests himself.

This is the worst grocery store that I have ever experienced in my life and I have been to a lot of grocery stores. The service is rude to the point of obnoxious. The selection particularly meat and fish is limited and the prices well above the competition. For instance corn on the cob is $.89 a piece whereas at any other store it is $.50 or less It is August and corn on the cob is plentiful. Checkout particularly self serve is slow and cumbersome. When I complained about the slow and awkward self serve, the customer service lady said«it works when you know what you are doing». The customer service manager said, «we just had it fixed». My suggestion, give this store a pass. There is plenty of selection in the area.

Did not recognize the birthday award on my Starbucks app because they said they were not part of the corporate. So what are they? Moonbucks?

Sitting in a coffee shop, therefore, taking the time to clear out some of the drafts that have been sitting in my inbox for 4 months of local reviews in attempt to reduce my list one at a time(I have over 60 drafts). Just like any other safeway location, however, came here at the begging of the month to get a bus pass and to get some cereal that was on sale for club card holders. Very well organized, staff were decent. I just wish that their prices were a bit better for the other items, however, this is a complaint about the other locations as well.

Great location, clean, lots of parking . Part of Oakridge mall. With a bottle return and fare savers for transit. Florist, pharmacy, a Deli with seating and free wifi. Car service if you need it. With a Starbucks And usually great staff

I’m here now getting groceries! What an awesome location and they have everything I could ever need with great prices! I come here nearly every day and I have a walk through the mall that is attached to Safeway after I get all my food.

I live really close to Oakridge mall, so this Safeway is naturally the first choice for buying basic supplies. I’d say Safeway is pretty pricey, especially since they don’t carry too many organic goods, but they have most things so you can get a lot of things here. It’d be great if they carried higher quality meat. I love that it has self-checkout units. It is slightly smaller than the other Safeways I’ve visited. I don’t usually buy a lot of produce here – I do that at Kin’s, which is on the other side of the mall and seems to be fresher. I buy bananas at Safeway because I don’t think Kin’s has them(or have I just not noticed it?). In conclusion, I don’t suggest you come here if you’re used to buying organic products, but otherwise, it’s not a bad choice.

Self scan makes life so much easier! This Safeway is two blocks from my house. I try very hard not to go on the weekends because it is so gosh darn busy. I usually stop and pick up a few things from the deli and the bulk section before I check out. Air miles & Safeway card always in hand. I also am very pleased with the customer service from the pharmacy, especially the manager who helped me with some personal problems without embarrassing me! The only thing I would say is keep more shiitake mushrooms & arugula in stock(50⁄50 chance these are in stock) and the bananas never seem to ripen properly from this store after I have brought them home. Meh. They do offer delivery for seniors but I think it is a specific day of the week so contact the grocery store for more info on that. This area is also slated for major redevelopment so I do not know how much longer this Safeway has!

I have no problems with the actual store, but I’ve got a bone to pick with the Pharmacy. I normally go to the Mark’s Pharmacy right beside my doctor’s office, but there was a lineup there when I was finished my doctor’s appointment so I thought I’d just go to Safeway on the way home. Normally, it takes the pharmacists around half an hour to prepare my prescription at Mark’s, but when I got to Safeway, they said it would take an hour. Which is fine, so I went to walk around Oakridge for a bit, but 20 minutes later, they called me and said that they didn’t have the drug in stock and told me to come back tomorrow. This bothered me, but I said fine and went back the next day. When I got there at around 2PM, they spent a few minutes checking around to try and find my prescription, and then told me once again that it was not ready, and to come back in an hour. And once again, I went to walk around Oakridge, and came back an hour later only for it to STILLNOTBEREADY. I understand that they are busy, it didn’t at all look like the pharmacists and tech’s were lounging around, they were working hard. But if they could have told me to begin with that they did not have the drug in stock and to come back at a time when they for sure would have it ready, then I would have been happy. It just seemed like they were very disorganized. Definitely will stick with going to Mark’s Pharmacy. tl;dr: was told multiple times that the prescription would be ready at a certain time, and it wasn’t. avoid if possible.

I like shop at this Safeway coz it so closed to my house and it connected with Oakridge mall. I can always shop and buy things at one time.

This is probably the most central Safeway location in the city. For this reason, it’s also the most popular. Parking is available outside directly in front. With that said, the lot fills up pretty badly on weekends. There is an internal entrance to Oakridge as well, but this is actually a bit hidden. Overall, the supermarket layout is just like the other ones. But with hordes of shoppers. Hope you have some strong elbows, and nice sharp cleats on your shoes. I kid. One random thing I really like about this location is that 90% of the time they have their buckets of potato salad when the other locations run out. This happens every single frickin’ summer, multiple times. This place must have some back door deal going with some potato salad factories.

Safeway, You’re the closest grocery store. You’re not as busy as Superstore. You’re open until midnight. Your selection of foods is okay. You offer me an anti-social payment option. I also like that you take my phone number and I don’t need a card. Thanks.

It’s not one of my favourites simply b/c of the parking, being attached to this popular mall doesn’t help, though no fault to them. Just that if you’re looking for a quickie, this won’t be your first one top of mind, unless you go late evenings. Or if you’re going to do a bunch of mall shopping. but staff’s always friendly and helpful, and also self-check cashiers too. expanded seating area to eat from the deli or starbucks coffee, now that the Bank of Montréal office moved to fancier digs by the Bay. ATM still there though.

Thinking of all the Safeway’s I’ve been to in Vancouver, I really can’t think of any that have the self serve option, but this is not the reason I would even come here. More of an alternative to the food court in Oakridge mall, where I can get some real food, still fast, but closer to the real than the fast food. Salads, sandwichs, and the premade stuff in this deli are pretty darn good, sometimes for the same price or cheaper than the busy foodcourt. And I can sit in there and have a bit more quiet time than the busy Oakridge mall. In terms of setup of this Safeway, I can say the lights need some upgrade, this place has that ‘yellow’ tinge, that makes it feel old, and the cake/bakery area is in an odd place in the back of the place. There’s not much organic produce here compared to their other stores, you might as well go to Kin’s which is also nearby in the mall. Yet this is the only grocery mart around the area, so you do get props for positioning yourself in a good part of town to provide the necessities of life and take people’s money.

I really like this Safeway because it has a self checkout station. Saves me the hassel of being in line and having to deal with people if I don’t feel like it. A bonus that it’s also connected to Oakridge, so I can make a pit stop to some shops as well. The store is also always clean and organized, with sale items clearly marked so I know what to buy. Fruits and veggies are always fresh. Deli section is great, a variety of meats and also freshly made paninis at a great price. Also love the Safeway soups. When I needed help to find something, help was always provided. Parking always available right outside.
