Super fun place to be, especially in the lounge. Has the usual happy hour stuff but all their food could use price adjustments as it doesn’t really reflect the good but not great food. Go for: a fun atmosphere with great staff Don’t go for: great food

Went for a party. The food tasted ok, server was nice décor was decent. We shared a burger. Burger tasted okay but the fries was short and choppy and lacking in portion. The drinks were well made, however. At the end of the night, they added a 17 percent tip themselves… to which the service did not justify. For example, my girlfriend and I had to share a glass of water, we had to pour our own water, they do not remember who ordered what, etc. I am writing a bad review because as of right now I am experiencing stomach pain while my girl friend has her head burried in the toilet and confirming it was indeed the burger that we had.

Absolutely beautiful atmosphere. The service isn’t terrible but could be better. The bar tenders are not friendly. They won’t talk to you if you sit at the bar. They have ignored my empty glass a few times in the past. The menu is lacking for vegetarians but the prices are decent. It’s worth checking out at least once for the décor. The lighting is incredible!

We wanted brunch but we’re unable to get a table at busy restaurant nearby, so chose Rogue last Sunday. No brunch menu, but $ 5 Caesars so we were sold. I had a Reuben, and it was large so I took half home, and the quinoa side salad was awesome. Happy with our meal, and the server was attentive, so always a bonus.

To be honest… I was excited when this restaurant opened in my neighbourhood, but it’s pretty pricy for the food you get. I didn’t love the menu … because I’m VERY picky, but the tomato bisque soup WAS really good! Just a bit pricey… I also didnt enjoy the late night laughter from the patio that often kept me up at night … Living only a block away. I guess that’s just the price to pay ;). My best memory of Rogue is that when it first opened… They made a point to ask us about our experience in their restaurant. and they were genuinely interested in our opinions about the menu and food! Now THAT… ISHOWYOUDOWELLINTHEFOODINDUSTRY!

This place sucks. And clearly management doesn’t care what customers think. AWFUL service. We didn’t get what we ordered. They forgot things that we had asked for. The food was overcooked, and when we told the guy coming to collect our plates(because our waiter was nowhere to be found) he didn’t even tell our waiter. So we had to pay for overcooked food we didn’t eat. Won’t be going back here. **Note to the management… if a customer contacts you, you might want to actually respond. I was disappointed at first, now after you completely ignored me I’m just pissed. I will be sure to tell my friends and family who live in the area.

Rogue is pretty good. The best part of this place is the great selection of beers from around BC and the states which changes up quite often, keeping it interesting. I appreciate the atmosphere which has a loungey vibe to it. They had a menu change earlier in the year that I wasn’t a fan of. I really miss the old pizzas they used to have, as well as the wok squid that was amazing! It’s still a solid place to go in the neighbourhood.

I really like this place. They don’t have the biggest beer list in the city(Tap & Barrel) but I have found it to be the best curated. Every time I go, the selection is different and I always find something I want to try. I find overly extensive beer lists pointless, as they often are just bloated for the sake of claiming massive selection(Tap & Barrel). That’s not to say Rogue has a small list. It’s a huge full page. I like that I can have a flight of anything on the list, unlike some other places(Tap & Barrel). The food is better than you expect from a pub. The seafood chowder is amazing. Their cheeseburger is just a perfect, original cheeseburger. Wait staff is attentive but not weird about it. The ambiance is not as good as some of the other beer joints, because it’s on Broadway, so it doesn’t have the same type of clientele as all the False Creek ones. The upside is that there’s never a wait. The décor is weird. They just remodeled but somehow it looks more dated now. But I don’t go to pubs to sit at modern, glamorous tables. I go there for beer and burgers. Prices are really good. When we have dinner and a few rounds of drinks, we usually come in under $ 50 for 2 people. That’s pretty impressive. Good prices and high quality has put Rogue pretty high in our rotation.

This is a good restaurant, absolutely. Food was good but hamburger slightly overcooked vs pink as promised but tasty nevertheless. So… One star for location One star for price One star for friendly staff(Rob) Minus star for food Minus for«Above and Beyond Expectations» factor — it simply wasn’t.

Interesting business model. Open tables in the bar but you can’t sit at them if you don’t have the right number of patrons in your group. I’m not sure when it became better to turn people away than have 2 sit at at table for 6. It would have been great to try the food but we were not allowed to sit just in case a group came in. PS the Cactus Club across the street was great. And the table is still empty at Rogue.

Rogue is a couple blocks away from my home and office, so it slips into my dinner rotation every once in awhile. I never thought I was a fan, but it turned out I just wasn’t ordering the right things – very few restaurants do every single meal perfectly, right? Even on busy nights there is usually a table or two open, so I’ve never experienced a long wait. Service is always friendly, fast, and efficient. When it comes to drinks, they definitely have a decent selection – you’ll be sure to find something you’ll like. I prefer red wine, and after trying 3 different kinds and not being happy with any of my choices(or the prices), I decided to try the«Don’t care: Red». For the price point, it’s definitely the best option in my opinion – especially if you’re not too fussy. It’s a special blend made by Sumac Ridge just for Rogue. In terms of food, Rogue has the one of the BEST burgers in town. Words don’t do it justice – just order it. The fries are also delicious. I find with most places you either get a decent burger and terrible fries, or great fries and a decent burger. With Rogue, both the fries and burger are winners. This is really the only meal I order when I come. For dessert, if you’re a cheesecake lover, definitely give their option a go. SO good. I know in a sea full of unique, independent restaurants in Vancouver, it’s hard for some people to choose a «chain», but Rogue has a nice low-key, cozy feel, while still maintaining a sophisticated vibe. It’s a great option for when you want something familiar and fairly priced.

Agree with previous reviews. Good beer selection, including local, which is important to me. Good food(had fish tacos and yam fries), not holy cow amazing. Small portions for the price. If you come hungry, you will either leave hungry or spend a fair amount. Docking stars for small portions but adding for local beer. Landed at four. Nice patio on the West side so shade in the afternoon /evening, and views of downtown and Grouse Mountain.

Stopped in after getting off the SeaBus, waitress and waiters didn’t have a professional look, didn’t recognize who was working there or just having a drink. We just had Sushi bombs and pot stickers, very nice flavours, delicious. I tried the cider but it was flavourless. The short back grey chairs were very slippery and we kept sliding off them, seriously. Probably wouldn’t bother going back.

Three friends and I drove out of our home area in an attempt to escape the craziness that Olympic-Village-area restaurants have become during weekends. We just made the happy hour and were pleasantly surprised with decent, if a bit small, appetizer fare and reasonably-priced drinks — some of which were ordered in triplicate. The main course(beef Thai salad) was well presented but lacked a certain panache. It also seemed smaller than comparable dishes at other chain restaurants. This branch of the Rogue chain takes effort to attune music levels to the number of people in the restaurant. We were not assaulted with blaring music in an empty room, which happens at all too many restaurants in the Vancouver area — especially downtown. While service was slow at times, it was certainly not lacking. We also appreciated that we didn’t have to shout back and forth at the server over the music while placing orders. The décor is pleasant, modern(with much synthetic fibres and plastics used) and is conducive to conversation. We enjoyed the light, casual fare and will return.

We were walking around enjoying the lovely weather when my other half was hungry and suggested we spontaneously choose a place for lunch. Our options included Cactus Club and Rogue; since neither of us had been to Rogue before while we lived in Vancouver, we decided to check it out. Upon entering, we tried to describe the décor: was it a mid-century modern inspired lounge or contemporary-sleek-meets-mid-century-modern-wood-tones? Hard to say, but the overall effect was not offensive, although I remember thinking that the décor was trying a little too hard to be edgy and ‘cool.’ Service was quite friendly and the place was clean, as an eatery should be. We ordered the wild BC salmon sandwich(grilled salmon filet, house coleslaw, radish sprouts, lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce on a multigrain bun for $ 15.99) and the kale and quinoa power salad(quinoa, kale, avocado, tomatoes, pistachios, pumpkin seeds, cranberries, goat cheese, maple dressing for $ 11.99). Our first thought was that the prices were pretty steep for lunch. When our food arrived, our second thought was that the«entrée» size salad was rather small. I don’t believe that our opinion was influenced by American vs Canadian portion sizes(i.e., even Canadian portion sizes are large these days). The kale and quinoa salad was just small. Perhaps the«power» part of the power salad is so concentrated that the size has to be adjusted? Anyway, we mentioned our observation to our server, who then brought the manager over to our table to discuss said salad. The manager said that no one has ever said that the salad was too small. Ok, sure, different opinions. I still say that the salad(and the salmon sandwich) is overpriced. To Rogue’s credit, both entrees were tasty and it was nice that the manager came over to chat, as that proved he cared about what his customers thought of his food. Good food, good service, but overpriced menu.

I confess I still don’t understand why everyone pronounces«Rogue» as «rouge» in French since the spelling is obviously different. Yeah, there’s the red«G» in it, but the spelling is still wrong, people. Whatever you want to say about the Rogue brand, they have nice spaces. Their West Broadway location features generally bright spaces and a variety of seating styles and areas that look nicely maintained. 2 pints of beer($ 9.98) 2 virgin mojitos($ 7.98) Hand Tossed Artisan Pizza — Chewy super-thin crust Neapolitan style, but probably without the strict certification. About 15 or 16 inches in diameter, which is much better than the 11 or 12 inches you might get at a speciality Neapolitan pizza location like Famoso, and for roughly the same price. Comes with two oils at your table — a weak chili and a strong olive oil with a large sprig of rosemary sitting inside — and the standard issue chili flakes. Pizza — Quebec Whaaa?($ 16.99) white sauce, sliced potatoes, braised beef short rib, cheese curds, garnished with gravy, parmesan, & fresh herbs — Looked like just one ring of large, thin, potato slices. — Pulled short rib was very unevenly distributed. The gravy looked like it mostly settled around the middle. The result was, depending on which slice you got, you may have had a very different experience. — Overall, sounded fun but turned out boring and not very tasty. Pizza — Funghi($ 16.99) roasted mushrooms, IPA braised onions, goat cheese & roasted garlic on white sauce — Rather salty. Otherwise okay. Turned out our pizzas were moderately burnt: — About ¼ of the potato slices(the portion curled up off the pizza) was burnt black. — The mushrooms were burnt black. they started out brown, but everything facing upward was burnt and thinner slices were crispy black. — On the Quebec Whaaa?, the underside had large areas of burnt-to-crispy-black that was bitter enough to dominate the taste, so we tore those off. The Funghi pizza was okay. The busser who brought it obviously didn’t mention anything(surely they wouldn’t have served it if they could spot that it was over-baked) so we were willing to chalk it up to «it’s supposed to be that way» especially since Neapolitan pizzas are basically flash-baked. But when our server came by and we asked, she confirmed they were burnt and«not supposed to be like that». She said she’d get the manager to come sort it out but no one ever appeared(they may I suppose have gone home since it would have been midnight or after by that time). Anyway, we had been willing to let it go and by then we’d eaten about half of the pizzas, so we didn’t make a fuss. But that experience brought up the question of how much to trust the kitchen and server. I have always been under the impression that the kitchen should definitely know if they’ve screwed something up. And the server is the second chance at quality assurance before your food hits the table. So when my order arrives, I generally trust that if anything looks off, it’s probably meant to be that way and I chalk it up to creative license — otherwise, chefs wouldn’t have any creativity at all if(for example) every instance of a particular sauce must taste exactly the same everywhere. So our burnt-pizza experience really made me question just when to question the server and possibly send something back. And it was also disappointing that the servers didn’t quality control our pizzas, especially when the busser who brought it to our table said the only pizza he hadn’t yet tried was the Quebec Whaaa? On the other hand, incidents like this also emphasize just how important it is for the server to check on diners shortly after their meals have arrived to make sure everything is okay. Service was otherwise okay. Curious thing to spot about Rogue: The drinks menu says something about your beer glass having something special on the bottom to release bubbles(?). Didn’t spot it on our beer glass, but there was a water-level line on the glass labelled«re-order».

Great service, really rubbish food. Super nice attentive server but food was not fresh, severely over cooked and seasoned to within an inch of its life to compensate. Chicken dry. Sandwich toasted to a crisp. No idea where they dredged up the clam chowder. Come for the beer. Stay for the beer.

[Weekend Warmup] It was a double-date Friday night and I was in the mood for an unoriginal-but-nice type of place. After being unable to get a table at Joey’s or Milestones in a reasonable time-frame, we ended up at Rogue. It’s one of those places that I’ve passed by a hundred times but never been. I regret I had not come sooner. First off, their beer selection is surprisingly plentiful and diverse. There’s 40+ beers on tap with a healthy selection of local craft brews. Their $ 3 happy hour menus look awfully enticing too though we were a tad late for that. For the indecisive, they feature 4-beer flights which you can customize from anything they’ve got. You can even take the«laissez-faire» approach and let them pick your poison. I opted for the lighter side of things and loaded one up with pilsners and wheat beers. Food-wise, I was hankering for some standard pub fare so I opted for the Brewhouse Burger. Pretty typical burger but it hit the spot. It was tasty and decently sized so I didn’t need a late-night McDonald’s run. I swapped the default fries for a side salad topped with goat cheese, almonds and cranberries — almost too fancy to be paired with a burger but delicious nonetheless. The place has a laid-back lounge feel to it — it’s nice to be able to have a normal conversation without shouting. Bonus! The décor is contemporary but typical of a Milestone’s or Cactus Club. Service was excellent. Our server kept coming by to see if we were OK so often, it was borderline harassment — but in a good way. I was pleased with my experience here and would love to come back again for some happy hour drinks.

I’ve been here twice. The first time was in the evening — I had met a girlfriend for dinner and wine after work. It was your average cookie cutter experience. Modern and contemporary décor, a split between dining room and lounge area and your average bar/pub food. It personally find it quite pricey for the quality of the menu but it was so close to work. Today I went for a lunch Christmas party(I had no say in the location). I shared a pizza and some appetizers with a few of my coworkers. We got a margarita pizza(which was SO small), the wok Squid and yam fries. The wok squid was so drenched in garlic and oil that when I bit into it all I could taste was grease and garlic. I think this was supposed to be some calamari fusion because it was served with a lime cilantro aioli but the garlic and oil was so over powering I couldn’t taste anything. The yam fries on the other hand didn’t even taste like yams? I don’t know how you can screw up yam fries. It was supposed to come with the standard chipotle dip but it too had no taste. We had used the preorder feature because we were such a big group so it was nice that our food came out right away. My grand total was $ 12.67 including the service charge for the large booking. Not bad but unfortunately the food was just awful. I would have much rather enjoyed lunch from the food truck parked down the street for the same price. This location is diagonally across the intersection from Cactus Club. If I were to eat at another cookie cutter restaurant I would definitely pick Cactus Club over Rogue. Rogue’s menu is very thin and although they do offer substitutes like gluten free options, there just isn’t anything on the menu that stands out. This place would be my last option. The service was decent to say the least!

Came here on a lunch break from training while in Vancouver. A friend had come the evening before and the next day was raving about how good the food was and how exceptional the service was. So of course I had to try it out! I was greeted by a friendly hostess right away and was seated right away. Our waiter was super friendly and was very helpful when It came to meal selection! I ended up going with his suggestion of the veg burger with avocado — He told me even for a meat lover — he loved this burger. I was sold. The burger was really good — adding the avo was the right choice — Glad I listened to our awesome waiter. I would have liked to come back for dinner one evening to have tried their drinks — but all in all — good food and great service. I’d be back!
