I came here cause it was one of the few places not too far from where I lived that was actually open late enough to do homework. Customer service was horrible. They did not appreciate that I just wanted dessert. I didn’t like their attitude and just left which was a shame cause they could’ve used the business as it was empty inside.

I would best describe the food as budget decent. I ordered the House style chow mein and It was meh, okay, not terrible, but not great either. The menu seems to be one of those which are confused between whether to be a Denny’s, High class seafood restaurant, or HK style cuisine. When I first walked in, there seemed to be only a few tables full in a large restaurant though the service was decent enough. The food came out pretty quickly, i’d say within 15 minutes and was quite a large plate of food. However, the chicken was quite rubbery, the shrimp was okay, and in general everything on the plate was just meh. I would have been okay with paying 10,11 dollars for a plate of that quantity and quality but the actual price was around 15 dollars which was the thing that disappointed me. The food is okay, and the portions are decent, but the price is too high for food of that calibre. I will very likely not be going back.

The service could definitely be improved. There used to be a very professional waiter who was super quick on his feet. He is gone I believe since I haven’t seen him for a while. The other guys could have learned from him since they are lacking a bit on the service side. Also the food used to be tastier and cheaper. I guess things have changed but it’s still a decent place to hang out for a quick bite. Tv is always on with Chinese music and live concerts. It’s always busy in here.

I came here for a late night drink and snack with my boyfriend and his friends. I ordered a sandwich and HK style milk tea. The sandwich was a peanut better condensed milk sandwich. It was not very good at all, not enough condensed milk and not enough peanut better. The HK style milk tea was okay. I have definitely been to better like places.

Exactly what you expect from HK café food. Ordered the Okra+Eggplant+Pork and the Hainan chicken. The eggplant dish was very saucy and salty, but the chicken was decent. Interestingly, the soup was kind of bland. Also came with rice and red bean soup. The portions were generous but still pricey at $ 15/dish(minimum order of 2). Cash only.

Honestly… I’ve had my okays(not«ups») and downs with this establishment. And today was honestly a major downer. Right off the bat I had this overly sweet cold hk style milk tea I paid $ 1 extra for. I asked one of the server about it and he just said he can’t do anything about it because it was all pre-made or something along those lines. I then asked this waitress about it, and I think she watered it down. The texture was not smooth at all. But at least she did something about the drink. If she didn’t either, I would have easily given this place a 1 star review. My baked pork chop on rice with tomato sauce was terrible. If only I had read a specific Unilocal review before I ordered it. But my dislike for it varies from that other review somewhat. There’s enough pork chop on mine, but it was as dry at wood. The tomatoes were sour… And like the other review mentioned, the sauce tasted like disgusting canned tomatoes… Except in my opinion … Worse . My friend’s noodle dish was super oily, I’m surprised she even finished it. I had 4 sips of my milk tea and just left it alone. I’m not wasting any of my sugar quota for a crappy drink. I want to say I’ll probably never come again, but I probably will just because this is the closest HK style café to my friend’s house… I honestly hope my next experience here will be better. [Late Night Snacking] Needed a late night snack and popped by on a whim. Despite being a Friday evening, the place was deserted. We were seated by an older gentleman whom I presume was the owner due to his excessive friendliness and lack of fashion sense. The place is decently sized with seating for 50. The décor is modern and bright with brightly colored walls. I ordered a «Ying-Yang» baked rice dish. One half was covered in a cream sauce with seafood. The other half was tomato-based with pork. I thoroughy enjoyed this dish as it provides a bit of variety during my meal. It allowed me to switch between flavors whenever I got tired of one. It was like getting both ice cream flavors when you couldn’t decide on one. My S.O. ordered a noodle bowl topped with fish cake, fish balls, and veggies. The broth was light but the fish cake and noodles didn’t taste super fresh. The bowl was a little small but otherwise good value. Both entrees included a beverage of your choice. At $ 20 for both meals everything in, I’d consider that pretty good value. Qoo is in a convenient spot for me so I’ll likely be back at some point — there isn’t a whole lot of late night dining options in that neighborhood without crossing into Richmond. It’s open late and has decent food at a decent price.

It is just a regular Chinese hk style restaurant. Although u have many to choose from the menu. But we can’t find anything special. The foods are just acceptable. But compare to the price. It should be better.

good neighbourhood place for HK style food, though it’s probably not famous for anything like the baked pork chop over rice like Goldstone’s in chinatown. decent service. parking always tight, though it’s free on the side streets. with a bus stop there doesnt help this corner location. opened til midnite surprisingly in a residential area.

I thought this place was pretty good actually. The service was awesome, food was 4⁄5 at the very least and it was reasonably priced. At the same time my standards for hk cafés aren’t set too high. But I would definitely come back again!

Had the chicken w/Chinese herbs hotpot as recommended by the waiter. I suppose if I were less hungry(less desperate), I would’ve opted for something different. The pot came w/stir fried green cabbage — not evenly cooked, the base broth was lacking in its herb-y taste(so they really scrimped on the herb part of it — but for $ 10.50, I shouldn’t have expected much). The broth was heavy in mushrooms that tasted stale, & regardless of price, that is completely unacceptable. The saving grace is that the staff was actually friendly.

Service was mediocre. Food was decent. They really do fulfill the meaning of HK home-style meal and that was something enjoyed, slightly. That gives it 1 star. The food is pretty much everything you can make at home. The only difference is you’re sitting in a restaurant, no effort making the food, and you pay your hard-earned money just to get crap service :) So, why –4 stars? Shall I begin… I first decided to order a Vanilla Milk Tea with pearls. They were out of ingredients or for some reason couldn’t serve that particular drink. It was truly the ONLY bubble tea drink I wanted on the list but I decided to settle with Passion Fruit Slush. Surprisingly my drink was in a to-go cup when I was already eatting in.(wtf?) Not much of a big deal to me tho. I let it sit for about 10 minutes or so and wanted to begin drinking it when I left. Big mistake. The entire drink turned into water within those 10 minutes. Ok, not too much of a big deal to me since that may have been my fault. Or maybe theirs for not putting enough ice. I’m looking inside the bubble tea cup and literally, ALL of the pearls were UNDERCOOKED. Actually, THEYAREN’T EVENCOOKEDATALL. What kind of chef fucks up with making bubble tea? Someone please tell me. SOMEBODY. It’s not that god damn hard to cook damn pearls. I decided to take a sip since my eyes may have deceived me and yet again, it was a big mistake. In the end I drank all of the passion fruit tea, which was just a little below decent, and threw away the pearls which I NEVER do because I love pearls normally but the pearls were so horrible to the point even I, had to throw them away. Oh yes, I forgot to mention. They DONOT refill your tea and you only get one fill then they leave you with just that tiny cup to sip on the entire time. How courteous is that? :) Will never EVER return to this … This«Qoo Café». Moral of the story, don’t ever come to Qoo Café. It’ll be a waste of your time and money.

This is a pretty solid 3 star place. HK style café done in a decent fashion. The good — generous portion sizes, comfy and ample seating, ridiculously polite owner(at least I think he was the owner). Food and drinks were okay, but nothing amazing; for Vancouver, I feel like my expectations for Chinese food are somewhat higher than for NY. Oh, also somewhat randomly, wifi is there but does not seem to work very consistently. I brought up to the attention of the server, who pretty much just said, «that’s the way it is.»

I ordered take out a few times due to bad review and comments I had heard from my friends just to try it out. Ordering take out for pick up was fast and easy, you can give them the # of what you want on the takeout menu and they will confirm your order, it is ready for pick up usually in 10 – 15 minutes. Most items on the take out menu included a drink except the snacks. Most of the staff speak Cantonese, mandarin or English. Sambal eggplant stir fried e-fu noodles, this was the first item I tried, for the drink I choose caramel milk tea with pearls. The sambal eggplant noodles were a surprise it came with okra which I have never seen in this dish. I love okra and they were cooked perfectly and not overlooked, the eggplants were tasty and overall the dish passed, it could have used less oil though. For the caramel milk tea with pearls it was noting special, it just tasted like a milk tea with pearls. I did not taste caramel or any other flavors. On another day I tried the Singapore style pan fried vermicelli, crispy salty popcorn chicken and the lychee slush with coconut jelly. The vermicelli on the menu said spicy but it lacked the spiciness I was use to, it could also have used more salt. It was not very flavorful but the ingredients were fresh and plentiful. There were big fresh shrimps, red and green peppers, pork, bean sprouts and the vermicelli was cooked right. The crispy salty popcorn chicken came with ketchup, it did not go with this snack. You get plenty of big pieces of chicken that are not covered in batter. It could have been crispier and saltier, hence crispy salty chicken. I’ve had better but it passes you would just need to add some salt to enhance the flavor instead of ketchup. For now for a quick easy takeout lunch I would order from here but nothing really special or stands out for now.

* Tradition * The Flo Tea Room( ) has been replaced with Qoo Café. The old spot was nothing wonderful, and sadly the tradition continues. It is now a HK style café. So I ordered the classic baked pork chop rice with a cold milk tea. The milk tea was actually nice and strong and was not overly sweet. I thought we were off to a good start: The baked pork chop rice got rid of that though. The rice was slightly stir-fried, but still tasted mostly like white rice with no wok hei. The pork chop was a very small portion — only 4 slices. Two of them were all bone. I think they actually took the bone portion from two separate chops! Lucky me. The two pieces that had a bit of meat on them had just a bit of meat. The sauce was very canned tasting and had no extra bonuses thrown in like veggies. Overall a subpar baked pork chop rice: They clearly have stuck with the tradition of providing a less than average meal at this location.

Qoo did replace FloTea and for some reason people are still thinking it’s a Taiwanese café. It’s not. It’s a Hong Kong style café with only a few dishes being Taiwanese café-y. I tried the Taiwanese chicken nuggets and noodle soup, and of course, they weren’t done as well as real Taiwanese places. The chicken nuggets lacked flavor. The chicken pieces were big, but the overall dish wasn’t as big as Taiwanese cafes. Ack, I forgot what noodle it was but it wasn’t the egg noodle they have at Taiwanese cafes. Sorry I went there a couple weeks ago haha. My boyfriend got the beef hotpot and he thought it was good. I thought the service was good. Overall, I don’t think this is a Taiwanese café replacement, but I’m pretty sure the Hong Kong dishes would be better done.

Went there recently for the first time — worst seafood hotpot I’ve ever tasted — a cheap noodle soup would have surpassed it! My friend wouldn’t even eat a second mouthful of it, and had ordered the«house special chow mein» which was better, but definitely lacking in «house special-ness».(limited selection and limited amount of ingredients). He said, «Never again!» I seconded that. I miss the Flo.

I’m surprised by all the bad reviews… then again, I think I lucked out in picking the Singapore Laksa. It tasted quite nice, with not nearly as much granular taste as other laksas from say, Café D’Lite or Banana Leaf, but that also infers that it’s from a box instead of made from scratch. Their red bean ice was also quite tasty. They did it where the ice on top had the condensed milk mixed therein. It accented quite nicely with the laksa. Service was pretty good, though this place could seriously do without having the Youtube Top 100 blaring out from two TVs. Prices are also pretty respectable, and I think it’s a fairly decent spot for a late-night drop.

Was surprised when flo was replaced with tis joint but nevertheless, at the hour we were out looking for food, we were adventurous! The place looked quite similar to the old flo cept with some minor renovations. The menu was quite normal and similarly priced to any chinese café you might find in vancouver. I ordered the chinese herb and chicken hotpot, there is a previous story about how bad this particular dish was. I didnt find it particularly bad but it was not really worth my money, a notable place that do a better job is pearl castle which gives you a bigger portion, better quality, and cheaper. The taiwanese beef noodle here looked good but, i found the soup quite odd, but the noodles were good, beef brisket was horrible though(the ones that look like it was reconstructed in a lab). The service was quite good, responsive and friendly. I think to sum up this review, Qoo fell far to surpass its predecessor. The place i believe is a last resort if your around the neighborhood for food/drinks. A small Bubble world is right beside it, its better!

There used to be Flo Tea Room, but it’s been recently replaced by Qoo Café. I must say my experience with Flo was way better than Qoo. There are many Chinese restaurants in Marpole already, so I’m not sure why Flo’s been replaced. :( Qoo Café is a tea room, but they haven’t gotten a bubble tea machine yet. I got the HongKong Milk Tea, and my boyfriend got the Lemon Coke. My boyfriend thought it was a waste of money. The menu was much smaller than Flo’s which I really liked, but it contained very expensive meals, such as the Lobster meals that ranged from $ 20~$ 80. I felt that the Lobster dishes were out of the place. In the end, My boyfriend ordered the Cheesy Baked Seafood on Rice, and I ordered the Popcorn Chicken on Rice. My food came first, but his order came 20 minutes late. There was no apology or anything. By the time his arrived, my food was cold. The taste of the dishes was good, but I think I miss Flo’s dishes more. I don’t think I’ll be coming back to Qoo any time soon.
