Dropped by here for lunch on a weekday. It was pretty busy but that might be because it was lunch time for all the students who goto John Oliver across the street. I’ve been here 3 different times and have had the chance to try the phở, rice dish and the viet sub. The phở is ok, has more of a clean homey taste to it. You can argue it might be a bit bland but it’s not the worst phở I’ve had in my life. My friend got the Bun Bo Hue, which tasted a lot better than their regular phở. The other time I got the lemon grass chicken and egg on rice which is quite filling. I thought it was satisfying for a random weekday lunch. However, the most recent time I went, I got their house special sub and my coworker got the lemongrass chicken sub. Both were fantastic! I know there are probably better subs around town but for the taste, convenience and gentle price point, I think it was well worth it. The owners are friendly and provide great service. This would be a 4 but unfortunately, I’ve eaten too much phở in my lifetime and have been too spoiled when it comes to good Vietnamese cuisine. Still a very nice neighborhood phở restaurant.

I have been here several times and have not been disappointed with the quality. At my last visit I ordered my usual House Special sandwich and was blown away! The sandwich includes a balanced portion of veggies and meat served on a fresh bun. The tea had a microwaved(asian tea has a distinct microwave taste if it has been reheated) taste, but did not interfere with the experience. Overall a great addition to the South Hill community!

My fiancé and I moved here this summer and found this place as we were walking around our new neighborhood. We took one bit of the lemongrass chicken and just about died and went to heaven! SOGOOD!!! We try to come here at least once a week. And the staff are super friendly. When we go in for our take out order, they make sure to offer tea while we are waiting. The portions of food for the price you pay are outstanding as well. It may be a cash-only place, but it’s 100% worth it.

My hubby likes phở for lunch and we have tried numbers of Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver. I picked this small restro with good reviews by Unilocaler! We were so disappointed, the worst subs and grilled chicken rice we have ever had! My hubby’s flavour Bun Bo Hue(Special spicy beef vermicelli in soup) was bland and beef was dry! The bun was not crispy coz it microwaved! The grilled lemongrass chicken & eggs on rice was yuck! The chicken tasted like pan fried for long time and reheated and eggs just barely cooked. Overall, prices were cheap but you got what you paid for(not eatable).

I love Phở Ngan, we go here all the time. I go so much and always for takeout the owners recognize me, when I walk in they say, «for takeout?» They’re very nice. The other day I had made noodles at home but wanted something extra, so I came up to Phở Ngan for a couple of things and asked if they could also make me some fried eggs(I was feeling lazy). And they did! Their fried eggs are delicious. Phở Ngan is super affordable! Still cash only, of course, but that’s fine because you really don’t need more than $ 10 for any entrée. Yay.

Extremely Good Value! I’ve eaten at Phở Ngan about 6 times now but I only order 1 of two things. House Special Phở($ 7 tax included) –like it, not the best i’ve had nor the biggest portions but it’s still pretty good and very good for the price. Lemon Grass Chicken on Rice($ 7.25 Tax included) –serving of chicken is average, come with a side of salad, fish sauce, and an egg. –tastes very good to me and is much cheaper than any other phở place i’ve been to that serves something of similar quality. Few more Notes: –cash only –very tiny –their menu price includes tax(not sure if this is a promotion)

Almost feel guilty with this rating, but I have to – the iced coffee passes my test, which is considerably higher standards. Has this slightly roasted, as well as a tint of chocolate too, and when i’m driving through this area, this will be a pit stop. Just a few stores down from Church’s Chicken. But the salad rolls just OK, if even a bit small too. No where as good as Phở Viet in Rmd. Just opened 2 weeks… small place with super basic décor, but clean and new, doesn’t smell like phở yet, could use a bit more artwork. There is 2 small flatscreen TVs, about 6 tables. Nice to have another alternative than that really old Viet place by 45th ave. Free street parking.
