My favourite place in Vancouver. I’m not even going to try and spell the names of the food, just trust me that EVERYSINGLETHING is amazing. And the staff is so wonderful, I adore them. My go-to’s are the beef empanadas and the layered pastry caramel cake thingy

This place by far one of the BEST sandwiches that I’ve ever had! Aside from the empanadas, pupusas, and many wonderful looking pastries(which will be tried at a later date) that they have, they also serve terrific sandwiches. I tried their famed Chacarero Sandwich and holy it was so filling! It doesn’t look like much but you’ll go into food coma after eating it! The steak is so juicy and tasty and the green beans… didn’t think they’d work in a sandwich but they were so soft, they made the thing taste and feel more filling! The bread though is the real masterpiece. Not sure what’s in it, but it was quite thick and reminded me of foccacia, in taste, a bit. Have to ask them next time I’m back, which I definitely will be!

Really nice Chilean bakery. The empanadas are great and the dulce de leche sweets are awesome. For the quality the prices are great. Must try.

Panaderia Latina sells tamales with bone –in pieces of chicken. Quite unheard of in most circles and generally considered a foul practice. It will be my last tamale from there and a zero star review although you cannot leave a review without a rating. Also their Argentinian chimi churri was, due to unchewable chunks of green matter such as parsley detracted from its palatability and did not resemble the product I had previously encountered in Argentinian dining in the past which greatly enhanced beef steaks. Overpriced items there really turned me off because they are truly gouging the latino community in pastries etc IMHO

Like this bakery, it satisfies both my husbands need for savoury(tortas! Empanadas!) and my sweet tooth(lots of dulce de leche /caramel coated pastries,). Couple this with friendly proprietors and a selection of hot sauces, peppers, and snacks makes this a place to revisit.

As an homesick chilean, I must say that their meat empanadas are really good! I also tried the cheese empanadas and the milhojas cake… very good as well. Will go back again to try the pastel de choclo.

Las empanadas tienen una masa muy buena pero el pino deja algo que desear son con carne molida. De todas maneras muy ricas! Sobre todo para los que se encuentran lejos de chile!

Had an Empanada craving so I made the drive over to this place. 1 Beef, 1 Chicken and 1 Cheese Please. The beef was very tasty and had a few olives as a nice surprise. The chicken was OK. The Cheese was the star but is was in more of a puff pastry than the others. Now what looked really good were the steak sandwiches every one sitting down was eating. Will be back to try one of those bad boys out. Alos they had a great selection of sweet pastries that need trying as well.

One word. Chacarero. Huge, messy, beef-y filling sandwich goodness!!! The staff is always extremely nice no matter how busy it is. And it’s always busy! I can get my tamarindo soda fix when I’m here, or a really really stuffed empanada if I’m not as hungry for a chacarero. Plus they have a good selection of grocery items if you are in need! Thank god for this place.

I love coming here. The empanadas are great, the baked goods are amazing! I am Salvadoran and I think their pupusas are pretty good and decently priced. A bonus is their grocery section and also the cola champagne. The staff there are also always very friendly and I don’t remember having to wait at all. My half bro is from chile and he loved it! Highly recommend this little place!

Needed to get take-out in the area and saw Marc D.‘s review for the chacarero sandwich. Tried it and loved it! Thanks Marc! Will return as they have a lot of Latino products(Mexican, Chilean, Peruvian), and the sweets and pastries look divine!

WHAAAA??? A CHILEANBAKERYINVANCOUVER??? SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR… was my reaction when I found out about Panaderia Latina Bakery. Being a Chilena myself(and having grown up on traditional Chilean cooking), I tend to have some pretty high standards when it comes to the cuisine, but ya know what? All of these standards have been met at Panaderia Latina Bakery(Yaaaaaayyy!). So what do I recommend to a first time go-er or ‘gringo’? 1) Chacarero — Made to order, this big sandwich consists of homemade bread, a thin slice of steak, tomato, green beans and mayo. It’s a sloppy taste of heaven. 2) The Empanada de pino(a meat empanada). This is the most traditional Chilean dish you can have. I could go into a long description about what’s in it and what makes it amazing, but I’ll save you the time and say — just go get one. It’s the bees knees, n’kay? **FACT: Any good Chileno/Chilena will tell you that his/her mother makes THEBEST empanadas. The truth is, they’re all wrong. MY mamá makes the best empanadas. That is all… ;D** 3) If you have a sweet tooth, good news! There’s a fantastic selection of Chilean desserts, all oozing manjar(our version of caramel). YUM! One more tip for ya. When you go to Panaderia Latina Bakery, make sure you wear your stretchy pants. Your belly’s gonna get fuuuuuuull. **FUNFACT** Panaderia Latina Bakery means Bakery Latina Bakery. Panaderia = Bakery(en Español). Ha!

Gosh I love this place when I can get down. I don’t remember the names of the sandwiches(actually chacarero is one — beef with green beans) and they have one with beef and cheese. MMM. I had the big sandwich with half of each. It is a GUT buster and only those with huge appetites(like me) will be able to finish it in one sitting!

* Chilean bakery, sandwiches, and grocery * I’m a big fan of this place. It is primarily a bakery, but also offers sandwiches and has a small grocery section offering Latin products. The operators are Chilean, and they offer Chilean sandwiches as well as Chilean pastries. I had the chacarero sandwich(sliced beef with tomatoes and green beans). The meat was clearly prepared to order as it was hot from the grill. This is a messy sandwich that drips down your hands. The bread is made in-house and a bit crunch on the outside and the soft inside soaks up the juices nicely. The green beans were slightly pickled, giving a flavour similar to nopalitos. A nice sandwich! They have dozens of different pastries including several that heavily feature the housemade manjar blanco(dulce de leche). I had a cone shaped pastry that was filled with vanilla cream and dipped into manjar blanco. It was delicious. The pastry shell was nice and flaky, the vanilla cream didn’t have any of that nasty artificial taste it so frequently can, and the manjar blanco was creamy, rich, sticky, and delicious! They also have sweet empanadas filled with(you guessed it) manjar blanco and another with housemade pineapple jam. These are more of the cookie style empanadas that crumble a bit. I’ve sampled these on previous trips, and enjoy them as well. On a future trip I’m planning to try their savoury empanadas, which are a house specialty too! P. S. Free wifi for those that care…

Once and awhile if you have spent any time in the southern cone of South America you just gotta have a real Chilean empanada pino style, not those tiny bites the neolatin restaurants offer but a big honken handful of meaty goodness, so head on over, grab one of the few tables and watch the pre-recorded Chilean TV shows while digging into a real empanada, the comings and goings of the locals are also entertaining, some people travel a long way for a Chilean empanada. Their various deserts are very good for you dulce de leche fans but call it manjar when you are there, they will smile all the wider, try the torte mil hojas, then go for a quick 5k run.
