Go there immediately. They have a huge colourful selection, range of fine materials, makes and values. I went one afternoon when it was not too busy and I was so impressed with the array of colourful products, ranging from traditional chinese silhouettes, to more contemporary cuts and fusions of everything in between. It was really spacious so it was easy to lurk around. They even have a secret room in the back dedicated to hundreds of unique qipao dresses(ranging from $ 59.99−216.99CAD, as far as I could tell). The staff was super helpful, pointed the way and left me alone. They were quick to be of service when I requested alterations for my selected pieces. Overall the experience was friendly, efficient and delightful.

It’s rare for me to give a 4-star on a future place to buy, especially for retail, but in light of the Chinese New Year coming up, I decided to get a head start. This is the real McCoy for selecting a traditional outfit, and what incredible array, as pic shows. You can really shop here for half an hour for a guy, that’s an eternity lol. Men’s jackets are reasonably priced, average $ 100, and thick quality. Reminds of the Shanghainese style. For the women, nothing fazes me no more. $ 1,000 for hand embroidered wedding dress? yawn… Angelina pretty knowledgeable for such a young lass… most are made from China, but the ones from HK would cost double easily, depending on the ‘artist’; the elder ones will charge more. If you think the main store front is big, their wedding gown section in the very back is in another separate room, about 200 square feet, it’s insanity. And love their alterations policy: $ 10 unlimited! Sleeves, pants, whatever you name it, they want it to fit the best possible way ;)

Upon entering the Ochi boutique, I heard the sounds of a gaggle of Asian ladies who were having clearly having a ball trying on clothes. I consider it a good sign when people are enjoying themselves while shopping. The gentleman running the shop was a perfect salesman, pointing out every sale item in the shop, of which their were many and on all sorts of items. Ochi carries traditional and modern Asian inspired silk gowns and jackets, as well as a plethora of pashmina/silk scarves with low price tags and the largest selection of very shiny shoes that I have ever seen! Sequins and glitter play a large roll in the footwear and most of the items in Ochi are great for special events.
