We went here based on a recommendation from a friend and we are so very glad we did! The food was delicious– Buffalo mozzarella, the focia bread, ricotta pizza and rigatoni. We sat at the bar, as it was first available and the bartender took our experience to the next level. He was extremely knowledgeable of Italian wines and listened to what blends we liked. And from there took us a step out of our comfort zone to some amazing wines we wouldn’t have ordered ourselves. Overall, a delicious meal and amazing, personalized service!

Visiting from Massachusetts and was wandering around looking for something delicious. The reviews are accurate. Small, intimate, warm place. Staff very helpful and friendly. Small easy menu and super fun music. I had the bolognese and it was very tasty. I might be back before I leave!

This. This. This place is my favourite restaurant in the entire WORLD! Admittedly, It’s a five minute walk from my house which certainly helps ;) But seriously. Homemade pasta? A woodfire pizza oven? A kitchen where you can watch the talented chefs make your meal right. in. front. of your very eyes? While you salivate in anticipatory delight? Where the staff greet you by name as you walk in? Where wine is described as «Old Skool, Aristocratic, and Slightly Bent»? Hello! Let me in! The gnocci is melt in your mouth fluffballs with tasty tasty bits of italian meatballs. The pizza is crispy and delicious. The fresh burrata, the chicken liver pâté… I love this place. Truly love it.

The antipasto of the night consisted of some prosciutto, warm bread and spoonfuls of white beans. Not bad. The anchovies pizza was alright as well. Halfway through the meal, we’re asked to move to the table beside us so they could accommodate a party of four by combining two smaller tables. We’re cool about it, plus they offered us a free dessert. But when the bill came they forgot about the ‘free’ part so we politely asked them to take the tiramisu off. Altogether with three glasses of red the total came to about $ 75.

Such a great place for a date night! The pizza is the best I’ve had in Vancouver so far. I ordered the Margherita pizza, and my husband ordered the special that night which was a pizza with Chorizo. We both were super happy with our choices. My husband might say that their beer selection was quite limited, but it is an Italian place after all and they had many wine selections available! We finished our meal with the Tiramisu which was also a great choice. I find the inside of the restaurant very charming and unique. It has this casual, family-run shop decoration but with a trendy & romantic ambiance. Very cool. You may have to wait a bit since it is quite small, but it’s worth it. We were seated at the bar straight away since we didn’t mind whether or not we had a table. The man behind the bar was very friendly and knowledgeable. He wasn’t overbearing in any way. Can’t wait to go back again!

Friends have been raving about the Nook for when someone suggested there for a pre-Christmas dinner with an out of town friend I was excited to go. First of all our server was incredible. Really funny and on it. I think Jen and Kate ordered pasta and Erin ordered the pizza. All was devoured or taken home. I ordered the meatballs and green salad which ended up being fairly expensive but oh so yummy and a great combo! Also server suggested wine and it was good so that was an added bonus. Will definitely go back!

Simply amazing. The gluten free pasta is out of this world. Great wine. Reasonable prices. Excellent date spot.

As quaint as this spot is, and as interesting the menu is on paper, i am underwhelmed by the food. Pasta noodles were hard. Pizza toppings were sparse. It’s like they realllllly want to milk that margin and aren’t afriad to call it «trendy». Limited seating space makes for a cozy and awkward atmosphere. Overall i just dont see this restaurant being anything but average or mediocre at best.

Be prepared for a wait as the restaurant is small. We came here on a Tuesday night and had to wait a bit for a table for 3. Ended up sitting at the bar. Our bartender/server was super friendly. It was cool getting to watch her slice the prosciutto and put together appies. Dragonboy ordered the Casarecce pasta and I had the pizza on special(chorizo and peppers.) We weren’t a fan of the pasta noodles as they were too big and chewy. But the pizza was delicious — highly recommended if it’s on special again. The crust on their pizza’s are ever so thin and chewy — just how I like it. Would recommend Nook for the pizza. Could tell there were obvious regulars who frequent the joint often which is usually a good sign of a popular place!

We went to Nook before a show at PAL Theatre. It is a small restaurant, but not overly noisy, thus a nice place for a date. The service was friendly and efficient. We ordered Buratta with Prosciutto as the appetizer, which was good. For main course, we had the special pizza and special pasta. Both were good, but alas not unique. The total bill was over $ 100 before tips for the two of us. We had 3 glasses of wine, one appetizer and two main courses. No dessert. Maybe Ciao Bella at the end of the block is a better deal?

Nook has great food, nice décor and ambience(dimmed, romantic atmosphere) with a unique Chef’s Table. Pricing is affordable for eating out at a nice restaurant(approx. $ 30/person not including alcohol). Service is great and the food comes out quick, but the wait can be a while, as the place is always packed! We ordered the following: Meatballs in tomato sauce — OK; the meatballs could have packed more flavour. Whipped ricotta crostini — OK; the ricotta was mild and the honey could have been a bit more sweet. We were hoping for the flavours to pop out more and have a nice balance between the sweet and the savoury. Margherita pizza — GOOD; the dough was chewy and the crust was the right amount of crispy. The pizza was even better when dipped with the chilli oil and topped with pepper flakes. Nook’s chili oil is AMAZING! Only minor complaint is to add more mozzarella cheese on the pizza(some slices had none). Campanelle, guanciale, cauliflower and spinach(pasta of the day) — GOOD; this was delicious and full of flavour. The sauce wasn’t too rich or creamy either, and the noodles were cooked to perfection. I would come here again to eat, but I’d probably just order the pizzas and pastas next time. Nook’s definitely a place to bring friends, a date, or even family for a nice meal. Preferably 2 – 4 people because of the wait to get seats.

I would tell you about all of my favorite things to order, and how delicious they are, but that would be a giant waste of time. I’ve been to Nook probably 20+ times, and do my best to change it up by ordering random things on the menu but I can’t seem to catch them slip. This goes back to the age old rule… If you use quality ingredients and pair them correctly, the sauce or pasta won’t matter because you have created a flow that will inspire any palate. The burrata is a must. Any pizza(or as Canadians call«flatbreads») will crush your face… And my personal house favorite, CASARECCE. Mic drop.

Absolutely wonderful meal and over all great experience. Next time we come to Vancouver for a visit the Nook will be our first place we go to dinner.

All you need to know: Pizza Margherita. and a bottle of Falanghina. Boom. You’re welcome. But really — their crust is perfect(foldable!), their cheese to sauce ratio is amazing and the delicious oils you can use to lap up your crust makes me hate crust less. Heavenly spot. The denman location is a touch dark, so unless I’m on a romantic date I prefer the Kits location. Either way though — the food is on point.

Simple but delicious. Good and friendly service, would recommend checking it out. Not the greatest meal you’ll ever, eat but very solid. Price is also reasonable and the location is nice too. Worth checking it out.

This place was GREAT. Really enjoyed our visit here and we actually lucked out by getting a seat at the chef’s table — WHOOOPPPPP! It was cool to see all of the action up close! We opted to start with the burrata appetizer — insanely delicious! My mom is also a big fan of chicken liver so we got that too. Its never my fave but this one was super tasty, with a great smooth texture. For our mid course we chose the pizza with spinach and garlic(forgot the name) and it was SOSOYUM. OMG. UGH. SOYUM. We split a main because we were so full and chose the special which was a braised lamb ragu served over a home made pasta. Epically tasty. And even though we were so stuffed, we had to get dessert because WHYTHEHECKNOT? The chocolate budino was so good. I would definitely recommend this place if you like great Italian food!

We enjoyed our meal here as the food was simple and well made. We noticed while waiting was that the restaurant had a lot of residents dining that night. When locals show up, that’s always a good sign to us that the food will be good. We weren’t disappointed as we started with a buratta and antipasto dish. We also had their gnocchi which was wonderful. We ended things with a piece of tiramisu and as a tiramisu addict, this was one of the better ones that I’ve had. The place is small and groups of 4 or more may have to wait a while. Don’t forget to sign in on the chalkboard when you first get in. Luckily, some nice folks noticed a couple of noobs walk in and explained what needed to be done. We thoroughly enjoyed this meal and it was one of the better meals that we had on Denman St.

I have been wanting to come here and try out this restaurant for a while now. We ordered: — burrata($ 17) — prociutto is great, but there’s really only 2 slices of toasted bread and 2 slices of prociutto plus a ton of cheese, tastes great, but probably not worth the price tag. — Italian sausage pizza($ 18?) — personal sized, yummy. — Gnocci with mini meatballs($ 17?) — pretty good, tasty and a heavy dish — pine nuts and broccolini pasta($ 16) — oily and slightly spicy. I like the food there, but it didn’t overwhelm me, I think one does go there for their service and atmosphere.

Nook, the sister restaurant of Tavola is smaller, buttttt they serve wood-fired oven pizzas. To start, I had the burrata, pepper, hazelnut, and honey crostini. Hold me down, it was heaven. I’ve never had a better crostini in my life. The fact that they offer wood-fired oven pizzas is a massive plus(Tavola doesn’t). I had the spinach, garlic, and kalamata olive pizza. Original flavor, great crust, maybe a lil’ too much garlic for my taste… but still pretty damn good. 4 stars on the meal, 5 on the crostini.
