NCIX should be your first stop for any PC needs. They are knowledgable, reliable and always go the extra step to help out. I got my lap top stolen last week and Adonis at NCIX made my day by helping me find the perfect replacement, while being patient and sympathetic to my situation. I sincerely trust the people at this shop and am glad they are around when the going gets tough!

I’ll bump them up to 5. Recently bought a monitor to use with my Mac. High reviews in general, except one user was complaining that the monitor, despite the online tech details, did not provide the appropriate ports(a DisplayPort) to connect directly to a Mac(without having to use an HDMI cable). As he put it, NCIX was wrong to indicate possible use with a Mac. I voiced my concerns to the salesperson who assured me that, yes, the monitor did support Macs. Asked him to make a note on my order that my accepting delivery at pickup was conditional on inspecting the actual monitor for said port. Basically, I did not want to be charged a restocking fee if the monitor was not as expected and listed. On the actual pickup date, I had to restate my request and the reason for it. Despite the inconvenience, they agreed to open the box, we confirmed that the correct port was indeed there, despite assurances by the other reviewer to the contrary, and I left with has turned out to be a superb monitor. Bit of an annoying request on my end, I am sure, but they did go the extra mile to address my concerns. This is also the type of reason why I prefer to buy at least some stuff locally.

NCIX is The Best for getting your computer fixed, fast and cost effectively. Every time I have had an issue, they helped me figure out what was wrong and the fastest/most cost effective way to get me back in business! They have two stores within 2 blocks of each other, both are great depending on what you need. I highly recommend them! Have done business with them for years. The sales guys are knowledgeable and the techs are«fix it once, right!» I’ll buy my new systems there; they have earned my business…

My go-to for local computer stuff. Yes, I will buy @ Apple, because I own some Apple products. And, yes, I will buy @ Amazon(US or Canada) when it suits me. But if I want to buy some stuff from an actual retail store, I’ll usually pick NCIX. Why? Because I’ve seen how much cheaper their parts(not necessarily a full new laptop/PC) are than say Future Shop. I’ve occasionally done a lot of price comparisons before buying from them, like for a $ 2000+ gaming laptop(that I use for work instead). In that case, they were roughly competitive vs the other online retailers(within $ 50⁄100 of best retail prices). Because this was also a fairly specialized and high end laptop, this was not the kind of stuff Future Shop or Staples would carry. So I chose them for the benefit of having that retail presence in case my machine arrived defective. Do they have super friendly/useful/available salespeople? It depends, luck of the draw. They used to be really good, but success has taken off some of their helpfulness. It helps if you roughly know what you want in advance. But they are still heads and shoulders above a place like ATIC in service and sales help. And because they are a high volume business I expect both cheaper prices and them being around longer than some of the small neighborhood mom & pop PC stores. As a negative, a lot of the stuff they carry is not on display or available to try out in the store. For example, monitors. They may carry your model, but you are likely not going to be looking at it before you buy. I think it is best if you have realistic expectations and consider them like an online retailer that happens to have some local stores to deal with. Not a full-service, bells and whistles, hold-your-hands PC specialist. Then again, I hardly think Best Buy or Future Shop are good at that either. They just do a better job of making you think they care.

If you’re a professional or amateur PC-builder, this is your best local choice. I’ve had my computer upgraded twice here in a short period of time — both quite pleasant experiences with friendly staff and little-to-no lineups. I was a little confused as to which hardware to buy but the technician was very helpful in guiding me to select a videocard for my motherboard. As it had been a while since I built my own computer, I let them do the work the first time. The turnaround was fairly decent at about 4 days and the price wasn’t bad. When I realized I needed to upgrade my computer further(damn you, Witcher 3!), I decided to have a go at installing the parts myself. This time I did a little more research and I was surprised that their prices were even better than the pricing I found online at Newegg! Everything was in stock and worked perfectly upon installation. Solid. This is definitely my new go-to computer store.

I did purchase a few thing here such as usb, extender for wireless internet etc. staff are very friendly. As a hint always go online and buy online and pick up in store. If you go straight to the store there is not guarantee they have it in stock. But also online they have deal of the day and deal of the week. Some of these deal are seriously really good deals that you can’t find else where. Best part is that they have parking at the back. And this is a pretty big parking lot. Location is not bad very central. I do like coming here if I need anything. As a tip, their exchange policy and refund policy is not very lienant. So make sure u really want the item first before you buy.

Needed some RAM and they were the only ones in town that had exactly a set of 4MB upgrades for my HPPC. Went in and was helped within 4 minutes of being at the counter by a really helpful young dude. The only reason not a 5 star is it has a bit of a warehouse feel but that might just be the nature of their product — I got what I wanted fast so that’s really all that counts.

Went here a few month ago to pick up a cheapo replacement keyboard I ordered online. I was greeted right away and shown where to pick it up. Easy pick up and I was nicely waved off when I left. I was fairly nervous about coming here since tech places can be fairly hit and miss with customer service but it was a nice experience. Would buy from them again!

Good for cheap electronics that’s about it. Dont expect any service but bad service. Went looking for a part that they had 4 in stock. Employee quickly dismissed me and said they had been«lost». Great thanks for wasting my time.

Being told«we don’t carry that, go to Future Shop» by a sales person who refuses to even LOOK, after you’ve explained that the item you want is shown on the NCIX website as being in stock in at least 4NCIX locations(included the one you’re at), does not bode well for customer satisfaction. I remember when NCIX first opened on Broadway and it was the nerd equivalent of a deli. I figure out what I want ahead of time(because I’m a nerd and know my stuff), I get the product numbers(SKU), I give my fellow nerd the correct SKUs, nerdman takes my money, I wait, and another nerdman comes out with my purchase. This was great(for those of us who know things like, say, the difference between DDR3 and DDR2). Heck, the staff even knew my name and would say«hi» across the store when I would come in! The shift from the aforementioned«nerd deli» to a «proper» store front, has meant asking questions like«have you had many returns on the Oc’d GeForce 770’s?» is met with ape grunts and shrugs. Oddly enough, if you wander through the isles a staff member will sometimes come up and ask if they can help you find anything. My advice. just say NO. Seriously. if you say«yes, I need Product Whatever» you won’t see them again and if you do, it’ll be 5 – 10 minutes later and they’ll tell you they have to ask someone else. Need to grab 10 copies of Windows 8 — ha! They don’t even keep these in stock regularly at the retail stores. *sigh* I’ll be going to ATIC, Generic and even… FutureShop. The prices may be higher, the staff may be annoying, but at least they aren’t demotivated, lobotomized lumps who wouldn’t be able to figure out how to help you if you, even if you were on fire.

Love this place. Great prices. My go to place for getting a computer built(costs $ 50). I like how you can price match against other online stores as well. There can be long lineup often if you just walk in so it’s better if you just order it online and pick it up in store.

Why would a company spend exorbitant amounts of money leasing a retail storefront if it’s essentially just a crummier version of one of their warehouses? Find the model you want on their website, head into the store, take a number until you can see someone, tell them you want Model QXJ1234567, they go in back and get it for you. The staff are a mixed bag. Every so often, you’ll find someone who’s polite, helpful, and doesn’t leave you wondering how they got a job which requires them to interact with the public. Unfortunately, more often than not you’ll encounter someone who seems to actively resent your presence and isn’t interested in moving a muscle to help you. The encounter is similar to getting your driver’s license renewed. The one time someone was able to provide assistance and smiled at me, I almost fell down in shock. Contrary to what 1980s teen comedies would have you believe, being a geek does not necessarily mean you have to have zero social skills. One of the few perks of having a retail store might be to let customers try out things like mice and keyboards, which are extremely subjective. Once, when debating whether to buy a $ 150 mechanical keyboard, I cornered an employee and asked him if there was a display model I could try. «I dunno,» he shrugged, and walked off. There are a couple of mouse/keyboard display models, but they’re not the most popular ones, and most of them are attached to gaming PCs that children are hogging to play Battlefield. Essentially, you have to grab a sealed box off the shelf and return it if you don’t like it – exactly the same as buying online. I’ve been a customer for a few years, and the final straw was when I recently made the mistake of pre-ordering a Playstation 4 from them. Launch day rolled around, and there was no PS4 to be picked up. A dozen phone calls and emails later, and I was finally able to find someone who knew what was going on: they’d taken too many preorders and didn’t have enough to go around, and I wasn’t getting one. I’d have to schlep down to the store if I wanted my money back. No real apology, hours of time down the drain, and a minor disappointment turned into a major headache. I like their prices, but the retail store is a disaster. Skip it and shop online(maybe that’s what the other reviewers did?).

These folks know computers — inside & out. The very busy staff will, when your number in the line of customers is up, give you their full attention & solve your computing problems. Whether it’s a new machine — off the shelf or u-build — or repair of an existing machine their advice is bang on. Brisk, efficient service combines with low prices to generate a great experience for everyman as well as expert when looking to upgrade equipment & improve your computing experience.

Former Blockbuster reinvented to Modern Computer Electronics Store on Kits/Boardway corridor. Staff are helpful and give straight forward advise based on your needs. Went there for a router replacement, a chain store recommend a $ 60.00 model. The NCIX person told a $ 25 model would do the job fine . Bonus Points for meeting a Geeky friend on the check out line and got to catch up with with him just long enough that it was still fun.
