I’ve been getting my shirts done here since I moved to Vancouver four years ago. I also have some basic alterations done from time to time(hemming jeans mainly). I do find it a tad on the expensive side at around $ 4 per shirt but I quite like the service. They always know who I am so the drop offs and pickups are quick. Even the part time girl who works occasionally during the school year and more often in the summer knows who I am. They also offer same day service for the same price if needed. You just need to drop off before 9:00 and pickup after 4:00. My dry cleaning has been ready when it’s supposed to every time. Recommended for reliable service for the price insensitive.

I came here for the alterations– not dry cleaning. I brought in 2 corsets and a garter skirt. The one corset was a brocade material, that the steel boning had burst out of on the one side near the bottom. The lady said of would have to be hand sewn, and wasn’t sure if it could be done . She asked,(her Mom it was) who said she could do it. Same day? Yes indeed ! In less then 90m it was Back Home. Ready to wear and like new. ! I think it was between. 8 – 12 $ The other 2 items we’re. Heavy patent leather corset.(same issue with the boning) and a garter skirt that had the garters all attached at the wrong places . I picked them Both up today! Both like new ! Perfect Cost $ 42.00 Will I be Back? Hell ya!

Ok, it is dry-cleaner ‘rant & review’ day. Some provide good service, some are fast, some are expensive… and others are just ridiculous! I have been using Money’s on Helmcken for a while out of convenience. My recent visit was definitely the last one. I handed them 5 items, as every time they ask you for your phone number & I made it clear that I need the items 2 days later due to travel plans. The first issue even came up when I handed them one of my sweaters. The lady mentioned ‘oh, this will be expensive, this is a jacket’. I was like wtf… just because it has a zipper you consider it a jacket? Insane! They were asking for 16.90 $. Forget about it! The rest of the stuff went in. Picking it up 2 days later, a few Shirts and another Sweater has been processed. My coat was untouched, no dirt has been removed and the worst is they did not even call to let me know about it. Why the F are they asking me a dozen times for my phone number and never call anyway?! The most ridiculous thing was the answer ‘oh we don’t want to risk damaging it, the jacket is too expensive’. Sorry but this is a plain Prada coat and not a handmade fur or stuff for some 20k$. I call BS on this !! The discussion lead nowhere except that the staff all of a sudden spoke barely any english anymore. They can clean your shirts and sweaters for outrageous prices but when it comes to tough things they just plain out refuse to touch it??? The name ‘Money’ certainly speaks more than one language here… Last time I gave any of my business to this place. I tried Mia’s around the corner on Seymour and was really satisfied with the service and the prices charged. Wish I went there a long time ago. Beware! Cheers –S
