I am a former client of Mohair. I have very mixed feelings about this place. When I initially came in to inquire about extensions, I was told that because I have very thin, fine hair, I would need extensions made from virgin Remy(European) hair. This is the most expensive hair they sell, but it’s true that my hair is thin and fine, and I wanted whatever would be the best match and look most natural. If I recall correctly, the European hair cost somewhere in the neighbourhood of $ 400 per oz. My initial appointment ran $ 2000, inclusive of the cost of the hair, the«installation,» and dyeing to match my own hair. That first visit took the better part of an entire day, during which the extensions had to be dyed and toned repeatedly, as they couldn’t quite seem to get the colour to match with my own hair. At the time, not having had any previous experience with extensions, I figured this was par for the course, and perhaps it is? I was a little bit surprised to discover that the hair I paid so much money for was thick, coarse and somewhat dried out. I was expecting to have beautiful, soft and silky locks. Maybe this could have been a result of all the processing it endured in the salon? I don’t know. When I called and mentioned to Yannie that I had some concerns about the hair, she told me that the quality of hair can be variable, since it is real human hair, but kindly offered a free deep conditioning treatment to make it softer and more manageable. The deep conditioning helped for a while, but this hair was always much drier and coarser than my own hair. Over the course of almost two years, I went to Mohair for my regular tightenings. I was always treated extremely well by all of the staff, and I looked forward to my appointments. During that time, I purchased some additional hair, which turned out to be much softer and nicer than the first lot, and it didn’t end up needing to be dyed/processed to match mine. ANDTHEN… Once, when I was out of town, I was in desperate need of a tightening and had to go to a salon in a different city. During my appointment, while discussing my extensions, I mentioned something about my European virgin hair. The stylist said, «I don’t know how to break this to you, but this is NOT European hair. Absolutely not. This is Malaysian hair.» She then asked a couple of other people to come over and have a look, and they all confirmed that the hair on my head, which I’d paid close to $ 400/oz for, was in fact a type of hair that sells for about half the price. This would also explain why that first lot of hair I got was so coarse. Needless to say, I was absolutely furious about this, and have not been back since. I always got really good service there, but I am ticked off about this and I feel it is important for potential clients to know of this business’ deceptive practices.
