Their food is fantastic and very reasonable prices! Authentic South Indian dishes, so good to have a masala dosa outlet in kits! Their dosas are made in ghee and very delicious. We also tried their South Indian fish curry and filter coffee. The gulab jamun was too sweet for me but I won’t complain. It as more than what I expected. Fabulous is the word!

In the past 12 years I have eaten almost at all ‘South Indian’ restaurants in Vancouver is the only restaurant with the most authentic taste/flavour place for southern Indian cuisine. Highly recommend this place for Dosa’s(lentil crepes), ldli’s(rice cakes) sometimes maybe under staffed but they are quite tipsy toed. My go to place every weekend!

Great dosas! We had lamb palak, chicken masala and aloo gobi dosas. They are flavorful but not hot. The place is often empty, but the food is fantastic and the service prompt.

This is a pretty nice restaurant. Between me and two friends, we ordered the butter chicken and the lamb curry. When we first got the order we were surprised how small the portions are for the price. We thought we will need to order more but ended up surprisingly full. The food is amazing, definitely one of the best Indian restaurants in Vancouver. But that’s not the only reason I gave them a 5 star, their service is actually what first prompt me to write this review. The server mistakenly served us 2 more servings of bread/nam and we though it was complimentary with our order. When we saw the bill I asked him to clarify. Without question or hesitation he took it off our bill even when he seemed a little confused that we ate it. I think he handled the situation like a professional. He prioritize his customers and its great to experience that. I would definitely go back! Everyone should give this restaurant a try, you will not regret it.

Pleasantly surprised! Was a little worried after the place changed ownership so soon after opening the first time. We’ve eaten here 3 times now and every single time has been excellent. I had the Aloo Gobi and the mixed vegi dosa. Both perfect. Flavours so evenly balanced and full. My partner and my son both had butter chicken and they both said it was the best they ever had. Happy that we have an Indian go-to in Kits!

Best butter chicken I’ve been able to find in a while. Amazing butter chicken, although there nan bread could be a bit better. Butter chicken was amazing tho(that alone deserves 5⁄5)

Went there on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant has a very good ambience unlike other Indian restaurants and has offers everyday. Make sure to check out the offer of the day. I ordered the chicken vindaloo dosé and asked it to be made extra spicy. I ordered the stuffing on the side(to make sure the dosé stays crispy till the last bite). The dosé was quite filling. The stuffing(masala) and the ginger chutney were really good. The other chutney and sambar were not that great. Friendly service.

Great to have a nice South Indian restaurant in my neighbourhood serving a variety of good dosas and other Kerala and Chetinad dishes. I grew up eating such dishes and Masala Café does a very good job of preserving the authenticity which my taste buds fondly remember. Nice thing is you could ask the chilli spice to be adjusted to your wishes. Service was great and our waiter was very pleasant. South Indian hospitality at its best. Am glad I found this gem of a place on this Tuesday night.

They have amazing dosas and are cooked to perfection. It’s nice you don’t have to go across town for them. Our waiter was soft spoken and kind. Will be coming back again soon!

Slow service and very bland tasting food. The filling inside the Masala Dosa was not spicy and the aloo paratha hardly had any potatoes.

Very good Indian food on Westside. Dosas, samosas and naan were great, idli very dry. Would definitely go back but a bit understaffed.

We randomly walked into this place for the dinner special. The naan turned out to be the MOST incredible naan I have ever had! We ordered 4 of the curries and they were all amazing. Do yourself a favor and try this place, you won’t be sorry.

Finally, we can get dosas without driving halfway across the city! And what excellent dosas they are: just the right level of crisp, with an extraordinarily wide range of delicious fillings available. Kitsilano’s gluten-free, vegan crowd should be thrilled with this new addition to the neighborhood. And unlike a certain neighborhood Indian restaurant, this is the real deal. Each dosa is absolutely enormous, and comes with the most delicious tray full of soup, chutney, and other goodies. It’s also a very welcoming room, with great staff, and since it is not(yet!) too crowded, this is our new favorite place for a working dinner, and the waiters are perfectly happy to have us sit there with our computers. Last but not least: this place is a bargain: dinner for two for under $ 40! I didn’t know that was still possible. Kits residents, please rush in and make this restaurant the success it deserves to be. We love this great new spot and want it to thrive! in fact, you don’t have to live in kits for this to be worth the visit: this restaurant is so good it should attract visitors from other neighborhoods, too.

What was once a humble, little restaurant in Surrey(Dosa Grill), has now become a sensation in Vancouver. I, for one, am really glad they made this very wise decision to set up shop in Vancouver. It would delight me even more so, if they could set up shop in Downtown — but, I’m content with their current location. This place is where you come for really good South Indian food. And, I mean, REALLY good. Its best-seller is in its [original] name: Dosa. Everyone comes for the dosas. My personal favourite is the Lamb Vindaloo Dosa. Delicious lamb vindaloo curry on a deliciously crisp dosa. Can’t beat that. For starters, I like to indulge in an order of Vada. It’s an Indian savoury spiced doughnut, of sorts. It’s delicious, and that’s all you need to know about it. Followed by my Lamb Vindaloo Dosa — it’s really a perfect meal. Getting thirsty? Try the spicy and bold Indian Chai tea. Now, the décor is certainly new and refreshing. They’ve done up the place quite nicely and it looks very much like a proper dining room. I am, of course, comparing it to the Surrey location. I would say it’s a step, or ten, up! Goes without saying, the prices are higher at this new Vancouver branch. We understand. It’s still worth it. Oh, yes, it is.

GREAT food. I’ve been to India 4 times. 9 weeks in total. And this food stacks up. Best I’ve had in Vancouver.

Haven’t had the buffet but have tried the Dosas a few times-very tasty indeed the Rasam was smooth and not at all acidic & the sambals very well made. A tad pricey but that’s Kitsilano for you-service is good the place is clean & quiet a worthwhile addition to the neighbourhood.

I came here for the $ 11 Lunch Buffet. I really doubt you can beat that price, considering Masala Café is located in the heart of Kits. You’ll probably be walking around the neighbourhood, and totally stroll right by Masala Café. It’s really empty, and deserves business. The server is a kind guy who likes to seat you near the window(so passerby can admire your food, you kind of feel like you’re on display at a zoo or something.) The buffet is totally worth it if you think about your experience rationally. If you find at least two items you like, you get your money’s worth. The buffet consisted of salad, chutneys and sauces, goat curry, butter chicken, cauliflower, lentil curry, a tomato curry, rice, gulab jamun, and fresh naan brought to your table. My least favourite dishes were the goat curry and tomato curry. I LOVED the mysterious cauliflower option. The cauliflower was covered in a tangy sweet and sour sauce, and large pieces seemed to be deep fried. There was a lovely crunch and it was quite addicting. The gulab jamun, butter chicken and lentil curry were average dishes. I was pleased that the naan bread was served hot to our table, but it was very oily(or buttery?) Nonetheless, it was fresh. I’ll be back again!
