I have ordered for delivery from this establishment many times before, and there have been 0 problems. As for this time, I am extremely disappointed in the service. I placed my order for delivery at 5:50pm and when I called at 6:30pm to check up on my order, they said that they were on the way. It is now 7:10pm, and my order has yet to arrive, when this restaurant is only 5 blocks away from where I live. I understand that this restaurant can get particularily busy at times, but if you are located such a short distance away, and are able to tell me that you are on your way, you should be on your way. Sadly, this will be the last time I will be ordering from here.

Food is actually pretty good. But service is terrible. Everytime I go, it takes a long time for food to come. The most recent, and unfortunately my last, it took over 45 minutes!!! probably because they were overloaded with takeout business… but still. No apologies, nothing. Sorry, won’t be back.

Satisfies the craving every single time. Lately with the pissing rain and cold weather, it makes me want soup and congee and repeat that several times over. In the past week alone we’ve been here twice(dine in once and take out the 2nd time). Their house pork stomach congee is new to me but loving pork stomach, I knew I couldn’t pass up trying it. It was delicious. I’d get it again. The choy sum in broth was good, as always. The seaweed, egg and pork soup also hit the spot. My girlfriend liked her beef congee. The 2nd trip included the preserved egg and pork congee, the westlake beef soup, beef congee, and the eggplant and minced pork vermicelli. Again, delicious! Considering how much food you’re getting, the price is really decent. Yeah the service isn’t amazing at like West or Joe Forte’s but most Chinese restaurants aren’t known for their stellar service — they let the food speak for them. This isn’t fancy like Sun Sui Wah but it’s tasty and has dishes you won’t find there. Give it a try if you’re craving Chinese. And if you insist, you can get your standard Westernized sweet and sour pork, chicken chow mien(but I encourage you to be adventurous and try AUTHENTIC Chinese dishes).

Had take out from here a few times before, and also dined in once. The place is reminiscent of typical small eateries in Hong Kong, with their kitchen in plain view at the back of the restaurant. The preserved egg & lean pork congee is cheap & good! Large portion size, decent amount of ingredients, smooth congee, & authentic HK style taste. Loved the deep fried wontons too, though they were understandably pretty oily. Overall, a good place to fill up on greasy Chinese food that is pretty authentic in taste!

Have been going there for years, the squab is outstanding and often on special. We also really enjoy the fish congee and chicken, clams in black bean sauce, and beef with rice noodle. Always consistent and reliable.

Decent dishes, refried Chinese donut and diluted HK style ice tea.

Good for a cheap lunch or «afternoon tea» aka(3:15 for those that know Cantonese, this place is supposedly named for Guangzhou/Canton after all). Lunch specials come with drink or soup. Soup is not bad, oil on top keeps it hot throughout your meal. Panfried rice noodles with beef and wonton soup are decent as well.

When you walk in, it gives you the real Chinatown feel that you would if you have been to the old chinatowns in montreal and toronto as well. It is cleaner though. The servers may or may not greet you. You will see the chef toiling away at the end of the resto where they are making congee or other sui chows for you. I would say that this is a cute place where you can see the kitchen much like CNH down a couple blocks. I think this is more authentic and the place is smaller so you get slightly better service. However CNH has more people so if you like the busier restos and want to get a feel of a real HK café place then you should go to CNH. But for the food, I feel that the wonton noodles here are pretty decent and I like the congee quite a bit. Try their late night specials. I like their steamed fish, seafood, congee and bittermelon dishes the most. Highly recommend if you are hungry and craving real chinese food.

Waited more than half an hour just for a lunch. Server couldn’t care less. Ended up leaving without having lunch and definitely will not go again.

Standard fare. Haven’t been here in a while but it’s pretty standard congee and noodle house. They open late hours. Parking is nasty on Main St though. Don’t have high expectations of this place — it’s pretty average.

I guess there are not a lot of Chinese restaurants/bbt places open late on a Monday night. I had a long day… I had to get up at 5 in the morning to drive down to the States and play golf at Loomis Trails. That night I met up with an old friend that I had not seen in 10 years. We met at Kwong Chow for a late night Chinese snack at 11 pm. I’ve been to Kwong Chow often in the old days! I find it’s ok. A bit on the dirty side but the food is certainly palpable. Just good old classic Chinese dishes. Nothing fancy and no pretences. Kwong Chow is one of these places where you eat and you say to yourself I would not like to go into the kitchen to see how they prepared my meal! I’ll just eat it and play dumb! Haha! We ended up sharing 2 dishes: a tofu beef rice dish and an old classic chicken chow mien! The service was efficient and the meal was ok. In the end we sat and reminisced at Kwong Chow until 130 am. We were last customers to leave. Would I come back to Kwong Chow? Probably… Cuz the food is great? No. Not really. There are just not a lot of alternatives for a late night snack in Van City.

Don’t have too high expectation. The price is not expensive. However, service is so so. The waitress don’t speak fluent English but they can get by. If you dine in between 11am and 2:30 you can get mini dishes with a drink starting at $ 5.95. and if you do late dinner after 9:30, they have mini dishes for $ 5.95 and up.

Came here for wonton noodles last night with Dad and Aunt. Very authentic… noodles had crunch to them and the wontons has a whole lot of shrimp. Possibly the 2nd best place for wonton noodles in Vancouver

If you want good no nonsense cantonese food, this is the place. Good noodles, congee, fried rice dishes etc. Generous portions and very reasonable prices. I think from 11am-5pm(don’t quote me on that but it’s around that time frame) they have specials, there’s a $ 5.95 menu and a $ 7.95 menu, I always order from the $ 7.95 menu, I usually get the salted fish and chicken fried rice(normally this dish goes for over 10 bucks at most restaurants) and it comes with a drink, I always get the soup. For a good size portion and a soup it comes out to $ 8.40! That’s a bloody good deal! I usually order takeout but I’ve dined in before as well. There’s probably 12 – 15 tables and it’s fairly clean for a chinese restaurant. The service is ok… and it’s open til 2am! which is always a bonus. Good eats! I’ll be back!

I really really wanted to like this place. I enjoy congee very much, as well as noodle soup, and had my hopes up high. We got there early and were able to order from their lunch specials($ 5.95 or $ 7.95 depending which menu you choose). We ordered the short rib and watercress congee, and the beef with ginger and green onion noodle soup. The congee was actually delicious, full of flavor and the watercress tasted very fresh. The short ribs were good too, though a bit on the chewy side. The noodle soup, however, was truly one of the worst things I have ever tasted in my life. I don’t really know what to say about it, except that it tasted like the broth had been infused with grass from a cow pasture. No I am not exaggerating. It really did taste like that. I’ve eaten at a lot of Chinese restaurants in Vancouver, and had a lot of bowls of noodle soup, and have never tasted anything like this. Probably will not try this place again. There are a lot of good Chinese restaurants in town, sadly this one did not fit the bill, for us at least.

I went to this place for lunch. We were quickly greeted by the waitress and was seated right away. In no time flat our order came 10 minutes after ordering. The food was a bit on the salty side but the chow mein was nice and crunchy like it’s suppose to be and the price for such portion was better then the suppose value of many others Overall it’s a good place to go for a quick lunch which garuntee to make you leave with a full stomach with outstanding price and service!

My colleagues and I usually order take-out from here during lunch. They have cheap lunch meals for only $ 7 with a drink. Can’t really complain except they get really busy during lunch time so the wait for takeout or dine in might take longer. They have underground parking/street parking and they accept cards!

Cannot handle high volumes or estimate time ! I ordered food to go, was told 20 min. Here I am sitting at the front 40min later, still waiting. Seriously WTH. I’ve had decent food here before, but have some decency ! with people’s time! Not even an apology. This place just fell a couple more ranks for Chinese. Update — took food home and they forgot the rice! Egh…

The food here is quite good — so much so that we were willing to split tables with someone just to get at their food faster. We ordered the fish and liver congee as well as a stirfried noodle dish, which came with a soup(say whaat!) .I was totally impressed with that, and even more impressed that the soup was so good. Overall the service is quick, the congee flavour is good, and the portions are decent. This is definitely right up there beside Congee Noodle House(maaaaybe even better??). I’ll be sure to visit again!

This has lately been my ‘wonton or congee’ fix in Vancouver lately, and for any who are going to that other place on Main and Broadway(Congee Noodle) save your stomachs for something better, and come here, your tastebuds and your stomach’s shall thank me, and thank this place even more. Tucked in between 15th and 16th along Main, this place has been here awhile ever since«Dai Mo» used to be here until the name change. Whether your coming for lunch, or your coming here after midnight, the food is solid. Oh, here’s another thing that makes this a better place… it is not CASHONLY… they take credit and debit… so no worries as long as you have some plastic to your name. From your wonton noodles, fried rices, congee, and side plates of vegetables, meat cuts, and even seafood, this place has got you covered. Thinking of just eating with a friend, where you want congee and he/she wants their ‘lai fun noodle’ and fish ball… well go on ahead and order. Coming with a few people and looking for a family style of a meal where you need to order a big vat of soup, a main steamed fish plate, a chicken next, a bucket of white rice, and a big dish of gai lan… yup. you will be well serviced here too. The other thing I realized about this place a year ago was that this place was a great place to pick up Chinese desserts. They have the rice balls and black sesame paste, the red or green bean sweet soup, and other more traditional Chinese desserts that I cannot name right about now, except to say that one of them has the clear fungus, and the other one is a steamed milk variety. This place can be pretty busy around the 10PM and after period, the kitchen is always moving, with either orders inside, or people calling for takeout. When you enter you see some old pictures of people who have been here, like our current mayor, and former one, and some other politicians. There’s a tv that is usually on the Score, they serve beer here, there’s parking on the street(but now they are meters… no matter, park a block further, you will find free parking!) and the place is just convenient… open till 2AM everyday!
