Let’s begin with I RARELY give 5 stars unless this restaurant jumps in my top places to go eat.(A restaurant I will more than gladly go again) The food is just amazing. their take on Korean fusion food is just top notch. I don’t even know what food was my least favourite because they were all amazing. Wait. actually my least favourite was probably the hot pots. Those weren’t exactly great but they were good. My favourite was definitely the kosoo tacos, miso chicken wings, ball trio, beef tartar, and chicken gizzards. If you’re a fan of korean food, than this place is perfect for you. It has such a nice balance of flavours and though some food could be spicier, it definitely still has that kick for people who can’t handle it but like the spicy aspect of korean food. It’s not fully a tapa style restaurant though you can treat it as one. They do have main dishes like their beef galbi, and sable fish. Accompany that with some of their beer and appetizers and you got yourself a pretty good meal. They also have a 15 dollar/person lunch that a lot of people have recommended. This is something I haven’t tried but I plan to the next time I am downtown. Prices are almost like your typical restaurant, with portions being a decent size. I normally am a penny pincher when it comes to value of food but for this place because the flavours are great, I feel the price is quite fair. Definitely give this place a shot. I am surprised ratings for this place are so low. THEONLYTHING I WOULDDOCK on this place is that its WAY too damn dark in there. I have to get my phone out for some light to see what I am eating and what I am ordering. Service 4⁄5 Ambiance 4⁄5 Food 5⁄5 Value 4.5÷5

Hello, 11 course $ 15 lunch set. Great price, awesome good quality dishes, and good service. The only complaint I have is the size of the table vs the number of dishes and the speed at which they came out. Of course it was only fair that two people sit at the two-seater table, but considering how fast the food came, we had to basically«borrow» the empty table next to us for our dishes. I felt rushed, like I had to speed eat when I saw another dish coming our way. This is only the smallest of complaints, however and would not deter me from going again.

Food was tasty, well portioned, and well priced. We had the fried balls and pork belly to start, and the pork ribs and seafood hot pot as the main dishes. Everything was well prepared. Great spice/heat too!

I was eager to try the $ 15 meal deal but didn’t realize that this was only an option for lunch. Le sigh. We ended up ordering the Kosoo tacos, beef bibimbob, and seafood hotpot. The tacos were easily the best part of the meal – light yet flavourful, though lacking a bit in the presentation department. Bibimbob was good. The waitress recommended the seafood hotpot when the pork one was sold out, and boy was it loaded with mussels! This was Rahul’s first time trying mussels and squid, and we are very proud of him for stepping out of his comfort zone. The broth was kimchi-flavoured and full of explosively delicious garlic. Overall, really good stuff! The restaurant was candlelit and had a dark yet flattering aura that would make a conducive environment to a date. Would have given the restaurant a 4/5, but the service was subpar. The waitresses never checked in on us throughout the meal and we had to wave like fat losers to get them to refill our tea. Le sigh 2⁄2.

Third time I’ve came to this restaurant in the past month and it’s my new spot. The food is so good, and is pretty much guu but korean fusion style. I’m a huge fan of korean food and love how this place tries to change it up and modernize korean cuisine. Definitely try the beef tataki and the tacos

$ 15/person lunch deal(11 courses)! Get it while it’s hot! Very tasty and a steal of a deal. Available on weekends as well which is a major bonus. Portions are fair to get a solid taste of each dish. With all the courses combined, we were(not surprisingly) stuffed. 1. Fresh oyster 2. Mushroom salad 3. Bibimbap ball 4. Beef tacos 5. Japchae(sweet potato noodles) 6. Sashimi salad 7. Pork belly 8. Beef soy bean paste soup(with bowl of white rice) 9. Mackerel 10. Kimchi 11. Matcha crème brulee Some of my favourites were the beef tacos, pork belly, and the beef soy bean paste soup. I HIGHLY recommend this place for lunch!

My parents and I stumbled upon this place late on a Monday night. After being turned away from a couple other nearby restaurants that were closing, we were happy to find that this one was open until 1am! Despite it being around 10pm, the place was pretty full and we found ourselves seated at the bar. We were positively famished and all the food really hit the spot. We shared an appetizer of calamari and our main dishes were beef bibimbap, some sort of spicy seafood soup, and pork rib fondue. This latter dish piqued my curiosity in the menu and I just had to order it. When they brought the dish, the pork ribs(in a super spicy sauce) were arranged in a pot of cheese on a cute little portable wooden burner. They also brought a side bucket with something plastic inside and I said to the waiter, «Uh, are these gloves?» They were indeed plastic gloves to eat the ribs/cheese with your fingers, definitely a culinary first for me! In retrospect, this dish was probably for sharing since there was a very solid portion of meat served. The seafood soup was also quite large and probably for sharing too! My lips and face were burning after, but I do love my spicy food. Would definitely go back!

Although Kosoo’s set lunch might be an imitation of another nearby restaurant(which, again, was lined up), it’s definitely worth trying. Korean Fusion. Morsels in every bite. Flavour profiles unlike anywhere else. Probably not as busy or popular because of its location. It’s off Robson street, and if you don’t walk south off Robson, you will miss this place. You gotta eat here.

Great ambiance for a date. You can find cheaper prices at less fancier places but I feel it’s worth the extra dollar or 2 for a nice night out. Dimly lit with tasteful décor. I’ve had about 10 dinners here since it was Chungdam Ahn. The food has always been consistent with this new owner. For starters I recommend the Tartar Sampler and the Mushroom Salad. My friend loves the garlic prawns and I think they’re okay. We preferred the Galbi Ribs over the Lamb and if you’re starving your only option is the hot pot. Seafood Hot Pot is tasty but the Ham & Bacon is heartier and perfect on rainy nights or if you’re fighting a cold. Some may find the hot pot too spicy. I’ve also tried the Sashimi Bibimbob which I probably won’t order again. Overall great place, décor & great food. Good ambiance for date night. Slightly a few dollars more than other Korean restaurants but not too outrageous.

Delicious and fresh with very interesting raw dishes. This is my new favourite go to place for lunch but I wish that they would have better dinner sets. Their lunch sets are AMAZING but their service is a little slow.

We started with the Kosoo Tacos which were delicious. Very light and flavorful with a kick! I had the Chicken Bibimbob with spicy sauce. I loved the flavors and adding the spicy sauce just enhanced everything. Hubby had the Pork Fondue. You get 6 large ribs served in a cheese fondue. In hindsight, his dish could have easily been shared. That being said, he thought they were very tender and flavorful. It would be a fun place to go with a group and try more dishes by sharing.

Had to update my review because this is the only place where the lunch menu outshines the dinner. I’m sick and when I’m sick I need to stuff myself with food, preferably without having to make it myself. I could never make all this much food at once anyway even if I were in perfect health. I was surprised at just how much food you get for only $ 15 per person. I haven’t felt this happily full in lunch since the last time I was in India. Every single thing on the set course was delicious. Tacos: 4.5÷5 Feta Mushroom Salad: 4⁄5 Rice Balls: 5⁄5 Pork Belly: 5⁄5(especially the little jalapeño on top) Soup: 4⁄5 Mackerel: 5⁄5(This was mind blowingly good. Never had such masterfully prepared fish anywhere outside of Bengal) Kimchi: 3.5÷5 Matcha Crème brûlée: 5⁄5(absolutely heavenly. best dessert I’ve had in years) To quote my bf «this is fusion done right» My favourite lunch spot in all of Vancouver, by far.

We were craving for Korean BBQ and unable to locate one where we could BBQ ourselves. Came upon this establishment(Kosoo) by accident as it was situated away from the main street. I’m glad sister and I were able to try this place out(on Sunday 9÷13÷2015). We ordered their Kosoo Set Course and glad we did. The price was perfect s d the amount of food given was just right. I enjoyed their mushroom salad, bibimbob balls and sashimi salad. Whereas, my sister enjoyed the tuna tartar, Kosoo taco(I think it was beef) and the pork belly. Their soup and dessert were ok — I think it’s an acquired taste. The service was great and the waitress were attentive. The downside was they played their music slightly on the high volume. I will definitely come again whenever I’m back in Vancouver. It’s a hidden gym that one must try out and judge for themselves.

The fact I revisited here three times in two weeks shows that I’m indubitably falling in love with this new place! It is that good!!! The menu is fairly contemporary without losing its Korean authenticity. Servers are very friendly as well. The rich chicken ramen and sweet tangy unagi bibimbap got me hooked to come back and tried their lunch set menu. I’ve had both the Sashimi lunch set and the set menu for two, both were amazing and decently priced! I especially loved their feta mushroom salad and soft beef taco that has the texture of a crêpe. Can’t wait to come back and try their main rib fondu dish!!!

Amazing place. First of all the décor is modern, with clean lines and handsome wood. We ordered the 8 course lunch set course. Incredible value for just $ 15. Loved just about every dish, including the sashimi salad, mushroom salad, tataki appetizer, noodles and even dessert! Highly recommend this place. You won’t regret it.

Brand new Korean/Japanese fusion, sleek trendy interior, well present food. You’ll get items from bibim bab to sushi. They also serve upscale beef tar tar or spoonful Hors D’oeuvres. My sushi/roll combo had well prepared rice and garnish on the roll but the sushi’s rice was on the dry side and a bit cold. Rather unusual unless one was pre-made and one was made to order. Hopefully it won’t happen again. Service was prompt and attentive.

I’ve been here twice Once with my wife, and really enjoyed the chicken gizzards with a beer Second time, decided to take some friends here for dinner They were very impressed. Service was good, and the food was very well presented and tasty It’s also priced right, you pay for quality, and seriously not much more than other places Recommend

The five stars say it all, don’t they??? Found my korean equivalent of Kingyo, and I might like this place even better. Atmosphere and interior are super nice. Sophisticated but not pretentious, perfect for a date or a meal with friends and family. The service was really good as well. But most importantly, the food is pretty fantastic. Had the tartare sampler, the bibimbab, and the spicy ribs with the cheese fondue. Everything was so good!!! Loved the tartare sampler especially. The ribs with the fondue was way too spicy for me, but still delicious nonetheless and the idea is quite fresh. in my opinion you get what you pay for. Pricing wasn’t that expensive and the portions were a lot more generous than they seemed at first. I won’t be going to sura anytime soon

The salmon dinner came with kale, tomatoes, bok choy and a Korean style rice. The salmon was cooked on the outside and soft and raw on the inside. The cream based sauce was great with the veggies. The servers were very polite. The décor was very modern. Would definitely like to come back to try more dishes.

Took recommendation from a friend. Probably the best service I’ve had in a very long time in Vancouver. Our server was great at recommending/explaining dishes and drinks. The owner/head chef came over, introduced himself and chatted with us a bit too. We shared 3 dishes –Beef Tartar, Gnocchi and the Sable fish. I highly recommend all three but the tartar and sablefish were quite memorable. I could eat that sablefish everyday, so buttery and that broth… I Spooned it all up. Not a drop was wasted. That shit is fish broth gold. Oh and did I mention they are open late? Yep, I’ll be back.
