Rare for me to give a 4-star, especially for a food truck. so you’re in good hands ;) Ordered the popular schnitzel with the spicy mayo, this has got to be one of the best out there. Nicely cooked, crispy on the outside, yet moist on the inside, but that sauce is out of this world. Smacking my lips as I type this. I don’t know what others are complaining about price, if you’re looking for value, go to a food court or a buffet. Happily pay $ 10 for this yummy meal. Owner’s pretty patient & helpful, and with a last name containing ‘von’, you know it’s authentic ;) Unfortunately, they’re on vacation til 1st week of January!

I was pleased to see K & J schnitzel outside Long Table Distillery in our neighbourhood as I enjoy trying out new food trucks that show up Friday evenings. This one is by far the best. We had the platter which was a delightfully light schnitzel with potato salad. None of that heavy mayo-laden potato salad you usually get, this also came on an unexpected and generous bed of fresh spinach leaves! There was some spiced mayo on the side to dab on the schnitzel if you liked — a nice touch. I hope this truck will be a regular in our neighbourhood. A definite ‘must try’ again. The owner(a real baron??) is fun to chat up, too.

I ordered the shrimp salad which cost $ 8. It came with three breaded deep fried shrimp, a bunch of lettuce, corn, canned beans and red peppers. This has got to be the worst value for money for any food truck I’ve ever eaten from in Vancouver.

Favourite food truck yet. Very nice, helpful owner. Exceptionally great food at a good and fair price And, hey, you can choose your own potato for your fries! All super fresh. Would return.

Medium tasty, but way way way too greasy. both the fries and the schnitzel. Some suggestions: drain the oil from the food before serving; cook the fries at a higher temperature

K&J has been kind enough to roll up behind Steel & Oak Brewing here in New West almost every weekend, making it possible to pair their sublime schnitzel sandwiches with tasty beer. The owner is a real live baron, and what comes off his funky, decorated truck is pure gold — golden brown breaded schnitzel, that is, and served warm in a big fluffy bun with generous fixins’. (I’m just happy to get a schnitzel around these parts, as I seem to have not much luck with local Euro food stalwart, the Bavaria Haus.) I recommend saving room for dessert, or eating it first, as they serve one hell of a crêpe. It comes fresh and warm, drizzled with good-quality chocolate, and even pre-rolled and sliced for easy devouring. If there was a $ 3 bill, I would spend them on these.

* Austrian fast food * I was really happy to stumble onto this truck serving up Austrian fast food — even though it doesn’t really signal Austrian from the paintjob: But one quick look at the menu and it was clearly Austrian influenced. I ordered the classic schnitzel sandwich($ 10). It was a nicely pounded piece of meat that was tender and breaded perfectly. The size was generous and it hung over all four sides of the roll, hiding the bottom part of the roll entirely! Snuck onto the roll were some baby spinach, a slice of tomato, and a spiced mayo. The schnitzel itself was on the lesser seasoned side(I prefer it that way to avoid the overly salty flavour you sometimes get), and the spiced mayo enhanced the flavours beautifully bringing it to just the right level of seasoning. Eating the schnitzel on its own it would likely require seasoning… But on the sandwich a complete bite was perfectly seasoned. The breading was crisp while the meat was still tender to the bite. Photos: and I really enjoyed the flavour profile, and want to return to the truck again soon to try their other Austrian items. I don’t know of any good Austrian restaurants in Vancouver. There are a few German spots, but I sure hope these guys expand their menu and offer some more Austrian classics! I will track them down again soon and see what they’re offering up!
