It’s spa day for me as I’ve been kinda stressed lately and really needed a pamper me day. But on a budget. so I started off with eyebrows which was very pleased at my usual place then with getting my nails done at Esthetico Salon & Spa which was terrible as they told me one price on the phone and so much more when it was done and time to pay — But that’s another review however, I found the same sort of thing here, just in a different form I sat down and before taking a look she said my eyebrows needed to be done and was worming up the wax … Not true as I had just got them done. When I told her I had just gotten them done and very pleased with the way they looked, she laughed and said ohh… I meant another day like tomorrow … Huh? Then while doing my facial she commented on my facial hair and asked if she could wax me… Ummm no again as I had just gone for laser a few days prior and I had nothing … What was good? … She did a good job at extractions but had to pay extra 10 bucks … But that was an extra concerned for me as She didn’t go much else … She steamed me and then the extra 10 for extractions then if I wanted a mask then that was an extra ten bucks, then she played with my face and rubbed moisturizer on me for 7 – 10 mins A 30 dollar facial isn’t 30 bucks … It’s 50 Oh and she left the door open the whole time and I could hear the hair stylists plans for a BBQ — they were really loud and I know she didn’t want to miss out on the convo but I was there to relax

I have this rule that I don’t let anyone except trusted people touch my hair. My bangs were getting totally out of hand — I wanted so badly to go to East Vanity, but they’re a little out of the way with my schedule. I bit the bullet. I let my ex husband cut my bangs. He BUTCHERED them. I was so sad. I went to work with my hood up the entire time, and this salon being literally attached to my building I said«well, it can’t get worse». Well, I was right, it didn’t get worse… and I thought it was better. But it isn’t much, really. Basically he just cleaned up the messy butchered bangs, but they’re still very noticeably uneven. I didn’t know until I got home to straighten them, so perhaps he didn’t realize it either… but ugh. I’m still wearing my hood. I blame myself for this mostly because I never should have let my ex touch my hair but I was hoping I’d be able to fix it. I didn’t want to compromise on any more length than had been, so I’m not leaving it in the complete responsibility of the stylist, maybe I should have given full reigns. Definitely not a bad experience, but I probably wouldn’t go back — mostly because I won’t ever leave East Vanity’s care again. Kristopher is still very nice and he did do a great job on my friend’s hair not even two weeks ago. :)

DONOT get waxed here! I couldn’t get ino my regular salon and I walked by this place so I figured I would I’ve it a shot. I can not stress enough how terrible this experience was. I get waxed regularly so I knew what to expect. So they take you into this room that is basically a closet, I can see all the precious dirty wax strips in the bin in plane sight. The girl gives me a towel and walks out, leaves the for wide open to salon! When the waxing starts I can immediately tell how inexperienced she is, the wax is no where near hot enough, when she pulls it off it’s got that sticky feel. I also notice she is going over the same spots over and over, meanwhile telling me detailed stories of her ex boyfriend who dealt drugs! When she considered herself done she didn’t cover me and walked out! She had not even attempted the back side. I know we all get frustrated on a couple extra hair we have to tweeze on a bad visit but this was on a whole other level. There were huge patches of hair with clumps of wax everywhere! She didn’t even attempt to clean it up. This was a completely disturbing experience and I hope that his review will save some of you the horror that I had to endure.

Went for a trim and owner Steve sorted me in no time(not to mention the added entertainment factor this man provides!) The salon is fun and the staff are great, you get to chill with the adorable shop puppy too if your lucky. Rocko! Steve did exactly what I wanted with my hair and offered me some great styling tips for after I left the salon. Also Steve was just finishing up an amazing cut and color when I arrived and honestly the girls hair looked so good I couldnt believe it, she was grinning ear to ear! Super convenient location right on Davie and if you are in Whistler you can visit the salon there! I would recommend Steve or any of his staff for your next haircut!

I’m really surprised to see any negative reviews for JuJu’s. I always have such a great experience whenever I visit. The salon owner Steve is extremely knowledgeable, welcoming and incredibly efficient. Steve was very responsive to my requests, made suggestions on what would work for my face shape and helped me find a photo of a look that I was comfortable with. I felt very well-cared for my whole Salon experience, Steve was attentive to my needs while still supporting his staff on what was an extremely busy Wednesday evening. Props to the whole staff for how well the worked together actually, I’ve been to lots of Salons that seem hectic, stressful and borderline catty, JuJu’s on the other hand just seemed like fun. I had a great time chatting with Steve, Amanda, Chris and hanging out with the Salon pup Rocco. Steve gave me some really subtle natural-looking face framing highlights(just like I asked!) and a gorgeous cut. The best part of my highlights was the attention that Steve gave to all the different layers, he really took his time in making sure that they look great whichever way I shift my part. With a bustling Salon it was extremely important to me that he gave such fine attention to detail, Steve really cares about the way you look when you leave his Salon which means I know I’ll always leave happy. A day later my hair is still looking and feeling amazing! I’m definitely coming back for a bottle of the great treatment Steve used — my hair hasn’t felt or looked this good in months!

Tried this place for the first time. Super creative and talented bunch. With the great music playing I felt relaxed the entire time and above all loved my colour!

Love, love, love Juju Hair Salon and Kristopher aka(Lemon or Scissor Ninja). Kris has cut my hair for years. As everyone knows it’s hard to find a hairdresser that understands you and your hair. Kris gets it. He has amazing talents and I could not recommend him more.

I have tried this place twice to get my hair straightened and each time my hair came out fried. The hair dresser has no idea how to deal with different types of hair. If a hair salon can’t offer even satisfactory results for the most basic of services, I wouldn’t trust them with much else.

I’ve been going to Juju salon since it opened… and to Steve as a hairdresser when he was at his salon in Whistler. I live in Whistler, so it’s an effort to get to a salon in Vancouver… but for me, it’s worth it. Whether I give Steve free reign to do what he wants or just go in for a trim, I have always been happy. If I have time for a scalp massage and full treatment, it’s awesome… or if I have half an hour between appointments for a cut, he has always made it happen, with a smile. Great service, friendly and reasonable… I have recommended to a my friends that live downtown and have made converts out of everyone I have sent. I love that it’s not just ‘another salon’. Steve collects for the food bank, donates his time to special local causes and works as eco friendly as possible… including purchasing carbon offsets. I highly recommend this salon… will have to see if I can fit in time for a massage next time!

After months of dealing with tangled, dried ends from a year-old perm, I threw in the towel and decided to go for some hair chopping action. I phoned up the salon and the owner Steve slotted me in for that afternoon. The place is easy to find since it’s located right on Davie, but I’ll admit I never noticed the salon before. It’s got a great interior and filled with some funky cool artwork inside. Steve is a really nice guy who loves talking to his customers and making you feel right at home(and brings them tea while they’re waiting!) One thing I liked about the salon is that if you say you only want three inches off, they’ll take off three inches. I’ve been to some that end up hacking off five or six, and it drives me mad! The stylist took a lot of effort to style my new ‘do, and showed me how to do some simple styling on it as well. I wanted to pick up the oil treatment for myself at home, but they were all out of the smaller bottles, and I couldn’t justify the price for the larger one. I guess I’ll have to stop by there again sometime soon. I hardly ever cut my hair(once a year?), so it’s difficult for me to find a salon to be loyal to. This one was pretty good, and I do like the owner. If you’re wanting a cut or a new style, I’d say this is a nice place to check out if you’re around the area.
