Was studying for exam in the evening once and came here for food… Not surprisingly, they ran out of food. I also don’t get the chocolate croissant with literally a stick of chocolate inside… Disgusting.

I’ve been here a few times in the UBC area. Platting wise it’s doesn’t look like the most appetizing, however, for what it is you really can’t complain. It is over priced but when you have limited options in the area, especially for relatively healthy options, you’re almost a slave to the location. Lack of spices didn’t impress me. Very slow service.

Specifically came to UBC to search for any place that offered the fabled UBC Cinnamon Buns. Found Uppercase Café first, but they were sold out and thankfully, I stumbled across Ike’s Café who also sold them. They were 2.25 each and wrapped up, next to the cashier. Found them to be very light and airy, while also being VERY filling. The top was DEFINITELY gooey and sweet, though I found it to be slightly lacking in cinnamon flavouring! Other than that, was a very happy camper today.

Nosh and Nibble came here to buy some lunch for class and I ordered a Turkey Panini lunch($ 8.95) which came with a side salad with Italian dressing. There were two things that were wrong when I received my box: I asked for Italian dressing and received ranch. More on this later in ‘Service’. My panini bread was round and had grill lines Look up «panini» in any Google image search and you’ll find either square-shaped or ovular-shaped bread, but nothing circular. Another thing these images will have in common is that they have grill lines. I’m not sure what happened with the presentation of this panini but it sure didn’t look like one. My panini was hardly toasted and despite asking for it to be heated up, the box never felt very warm as I whisked myself off to class. The deli meats tasted okay and there was a good amount of stuffing, but why call it a panini when it’s really not?

I decided to give Ike’s Café another chance(I was too lazy to walk to the sub). There were 5 people in line, I thought i would get a quick lunch. NOPE! 10 – 15 minutes in the line! The people in front of me ordered beverages… and one person left because it was ridiculous. THEREARE7PEOPLEBEHINDTHECOUNTER! At this point the line up is stretching across the cafeteria… I asked what was in the meat wrap, she said Chicken Caesar Wrap, okay sounds great. It was shitty mixed greens with a bland, blended chicken salad inside… not even caesar dressing. Not what I ordered at all… and it was really lame… not worth 7 dollars. So I went back and asked if I could have the vegetarian wrap instead, because the sign up top said there is a vegetarian option. Nope apparently the other one is seafood(he didn’t specify what type…). I asked for my money back. I appreciate the fact that they gave me my money back and didn’t put up too much of a fuss… but the fact that they can NEVER give me a real answer as to what is in their food is really sad. I think that was the last time I will ever go there for anything. THEREIS A 7 to 4 worker to customer ratio! WTF! It’s comical, really.
