So I was craving some Chinese tonight and had heard this place was pretty good(one friend told me they went here fairly regularly). Although I didn’t get to experience much of the Indian Chinese fusion based on what we ordered(spicy eggplant, tofu and green beans hot & sour soup), the dishes were tasty. For son reason the soup was insanely spicy, but we just rolled with it. Looking forward to trying more dishes in the future. Yum.

The staff is friendly. The place is popular. The food is not bad but this is not the Indian Chinese place you are looking for if you are craving for the indo-chinese you had back in India. I have had much better indo-chinese food in much smaller cities. Go here if you want a little different Chinese food but not the street food from India.

Just found out that they serve halal meat. I am so disappointed that they don’t advertise this on their website or window front

We were in the mood for some Indian food tonight and had heard some good reviews about this place. We ordered the butter chicken and the curried lamb for the two of us. The butter chicken was silky smooth, great flavours! The lamb was not as spicy as we would have liked it, but was later told we could have asked for more heat. Flavours from this dish were also great. Staff is friendly and we were well looked after. I certainly would come back to try a few other dishes as the parade of food from the kitchen to the tables looked mouth watering.

Very good hakka food. One of our favorites on Kingsway. Food is tasty and service is great. The staff is very friendly. The only problem sometimes is parking.

Super cute quaint restaurant. The tables are very close together. Apparently there is parking in the back but I just parked by TD since they were closed. We ordered the hot and spicy tofu, garlic wings, vegetable masala fried rice and this egg plant dish(forgot what it was called). Our server asked us if regular spice was okay and we agreed but our group was under the impression that it would be very spicy. We definitely did not want food that we wouldn’t be able to eat. The tofu and the wings came out first. I did not detect any sort of spice in either dishes… The tofu was crispy but was kinda bland… Wings were tasty but not spicy. A little bit of spice would have been appreciated. Fried rice had a kick to it and was good!!! The eggplant was definitely my fav dish. The chicken in it was tender and the carrots were a nice touch. We all got dessert which consisted of deep fried pineapple, banana and ice cream. Batter was great. I know some places have the Batter too thick(pastry like). The service isn’t too great here and the tables were so close together that it made it very hard for our servers to come to our table. I wasn’t able to try out the other dishes that were recommended on here but all in all it wasn’t bad. Would I come back? Probably only if I was invited… I would still give it another try.

Really great restaurant with a unique theme. It’s basically Chinese food at it’s core, with Indian spices in lots of the dishes. Extremely flavourful, often spicy food, with a big range of vegetarian dishes. Extremely reasonable prices. Sometimes it gets busy, so it’s worth making a reservation. Service is decent-to-very good depending on who you get. Highly recommended.

My husband and I have green lettuce as one of many lunch dates spots during the week, since its good food and relatively good service. The one evening that we decided to go here with our son in toe it was an absolute disaster. When we entered the waitress told us that we’ll seat you at one table that seats six, but when a smaller table opens up that she’ll move us. I said that if you are going to seat us that we aren’t moving during our dinner. She really didn’t like my answer and stormed off, never to come back. The waiter who was on duty helped us after waiting over fifteen minutes and flagging him down. He took our order without making eye contact and clearly wasn’t familiar with the menu. At this point my husband wanted to leave, but I insisted that it should be ok, I should never have done this. Our appetizers come out and they were fine, but then we waited over twenty minutes for our entrees to arrive. When our dinner was finally served, the okra we get is undercooked, the noodle dish has chicken and which we clearly said we didn’t want. I told the waiter there was chicken, he walked back with the dish and started to review the menu. Then the owner came out to talk to us, with the menu in hand. My husband greeted her warmly since we had met her several times before, she had none of it and then stuck the menu in my husband’s face and asked why he didn’t want chicken when it was part of the dish. He explained that we had asked to hold the chicken, but she then said you should have said that clearly, and next time to remember that. She then turned to me and said well your son eats chicken why you don’t. Before I had time to answer she said what do you want me to do, before I could answer she went on to say that she ordered us a new dish with no chicken but next time it’s our fault. They had a full house, two very unhappy wait staff, an owner who would scold you if they get your order wrong, and the food that was undercooked and bland. Maybe they do better with only two people in the restaurant, but we won’t be back to find out.

Amazing food, amazing people, amazing service. Reminded me of desi Chinese from Bombay. Will stop here every time I am in Vancouver.

We had to wait for a table for over an hour even though we had a reservation. The food is average, there are plenty other options to explore.

I had never had Indian/Chinese food — but it was as good as it sounds! We ordered: –Mini Vegetable Samosa with Chutney(side order) — GOOD deal for your money. At $ 3.95 you get 10 mini samosas that taste similar to Egg Rolls at a Chinese restaurant. –Hunan Chicken — I had never had Hunan Chicken so this was a pleasant first time experience. –Gobi Manchurian(Crispy Cauliflower) — It wasn’t crispy per se, as it was deep fried cauliflower bites(with really good Indian spices and peas) but soaked in delicious sauce. So if you’re looking for a «crispy»(crunchy) dish then the name is a bit misleading. Flavour-wise, really good! –Chicken Hakka Chow Mein — Also really good — it was pretty spicy! –Masala Chicken Fried Rice — Hard to say, but this one may have been my favourite. It tasted like a classic fried rice but with a curry flavour. –Hot & Spicy Paneer — REALLY good. If you like the deep fried hot & spicy tofu that Chinese restaurants have(with the chunks of chili peppers, garlic and onions) and you love Paneer… then you’ll definitely enjoy this! (*should have taken photos but everything was devoured so quickly!) Came here for dinner, early on a Sunday(430PM) so I can’t speak for how busy it gets — but has plenty of seating. Décor is simple. Busy staff(not the personable kind of experience, but typical of some of these Asian restaurants) — so if you’re picky on service, don’t have high expectations. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the food and would definitely come back and/or get takeout.

First Impression: Visited on a Saturday, dinner. From the outside the restaurant looks like nothing special, walked in to what seemed like a chaotic night for the people working there, almost as if they were operating over capacity. We were seating fairly quickly, which was nice, albeit the fact that it was very crowded. Service: We did not have one server assigned to us, rather, it was just grab the attention of whoever was walking by. Once we were seated, we ordered hot tea which came almost immediately. We then had to wait for the server to return to order food, which we were ready to order immediately. I also had to ask for water, which was surprising as all of the other tables had water pitchers so that patrons could help themselves. Any time we needed anything we would have to get the attention of the server which was quite annoying, they did not come over once to ask if everything was okay. I ordered an appetizer(soup) which did not come, and I had to order once again through another waitress. Not a great experience. Atmosphere: The surrounds are nothing to rave on about, average, slightly dated furnishings and colors. I think this place is more about the food than the surroundings and service. I felt slightly uncomfortable sitting on a seat which was in the path of the servers as it was very cramped. There were consistently people standing in the doorway waiting to be seated, and the door was constantly being opened. I brought in a chill as well as the smell of smoke from outside which was unpleasant. Food: I had Vegetable Hot & Sour Soup, Vegetarian Hakka Chow Mein and Chili Fish. The server asked me if we liked our food spicy(of course!) and I was not disappointed with the kick it had. The soup I had was not very good, for being a «Vegetarian» version of normal Hot & Sour soup, it was lacking in substance, mostly just shredded carrots and chestnuts or bamboo(? I’m not really sure what it was). Overly vinegary, I could feel my stomach burning with the acidity of it which was overwhelming, although this is nothing new, I have experienced this kind of vinegar soup before at other restaurants. The stars of the show were the Chow Mein as well as the Chili Fish, normally when I have Chinese food I find it very bland and lacking it spicy hotness. These main dishes were done perfectly, fish was tender and almost melted in my mouth and the Chow Mein was very flavorful. At the end we got fortune cookies which is always a nice touch to be presented with the bill. Drinks: Ordered hot Green Tea and water. The tea was standard loose leaf green tea served in a pot, tasted very authentic and was just the right temperature. Also, tap water in Vancouver is not bad at all, normally I do not like drinking tap water but it’s good! I didn’t have anything else but it appeared that they had a selection of Chinese as well as Indian Lagers. Restrooms: Average, wasn’t the cleanest of places I have been but at least there is a restroom, and there was a choice of bar soap or liquid soap. Overall: Good, for my first experience with Indian Style Chinese food I was quite happy with the main courses that I ate, spiciness on point. The service is not the best, I guess when they say they have Indian-Style Chinese food they also have Indian-Style service(disclaimer: I am Indian). It was busy so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Tip: If I was to come back I would probably just order take-out and steer clear of the Vegetarian Hot & Sour soup.

Their food is absolutely delicious!!! Their Cashew Nut fried Rice is so well made that our office picks up an order from them almost very week. We can’t get enough. And all their other menu items are just as divine! Always busy, always delicious!!!

Yes, it’s a nice combination of Chinese and Indian cuisines, and very family-oriented, but both my partner and I were just feeling a strong ‘meeeh’ when we ate here for the first time on a Sunday evening. Service: It was loud, quite a few parties over four, some over eight, with small children literally crawling on tables — and I could tell right off the bat, they have too many seats and not enough servers to accommodate. Having said that, we didn’t wait too, too long for our food and everyone seems like they are trying their best. Still there was certainly not the normal amount of attention you would expect at a well-established restaurant, and at times the atmosphere felt a little overwhelming. I probably wouldn’t bring my parents here unless I warned them– dad is a little hard of hearing! Food: Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available. We weren’t sure exactly what kind of dishes we were craving(you can order curries, rice dishes, noodles, spicy mixed vegetables, all sorts of things!) so we kindly asked the staff for some direction. She suggested we try the most popular dishes; the fried gobi balls(in spicy, vinegary sauce), tofu lettuce wraps(crunchy, savory, salty on fresh lettuce), and the spicy manchurian chow-mein. We enjoyed each entrée, and it was a good value for all(around $ 30-$ 40 total), but to be truthful I am not 100% sure we would be back because nothing was mind-blowingly, ‘I NEEDTOTELLTHEWHOLEWORLD’ delicious. It was aiiight. Maybe this is more of a comfort-style, nostalgic family restaurant, but I think you could probably be better off ordering to-go, or just trying another Indian-Chinese fusion place.

Food was excellent. Server was unfriendly and rude. Gave us wrong order and she was showing attitude. Probably take out is good option for next time.

My previous experience with Chinese/Indian fusion food was from the Chili Pepper House(also on Kingsway) and I have to say, overall, it didn’t disappoint! My favourite dish has to have been the Hot and Spicy Paneer(11.95). It was light and crispy while having the perfect level of cheesy saltiness! The Hawaiian Fried Rice(9.95) was a bit of a downer though as it was a bit bland, but the Gobi Manchurian was terrific(11.95)! It was a bit doughy, but still crispy and the sauce was meaty and spicy! The restaurant looks tiny from the outside but is actually quite spacious on the inside. Although their take out menu says«ample parking out back», there are maybe 5 – 6 spots LOL. Don’t worry, there are usually plenty of spots along either Kingsway or the adjacent neighbourhoods… plus it’s also RIGHT by the #19 and #20 bus route stops!

I’m a little disappointed with this place, maybe because I had high expections. I remember coming here more than 4 years and it was decent. The plates are smaller now. I ordered a meat dish and a veggie dish. The meat dish only had 2 tiny slice of bell peppers. Why bother? Taste wise, nothing amazing, I should’ve went to a Chinese restaurant instead. I saw 2 tables order butter chicken so maybe their Indian dishes are better. This place is super busy on a week night so arrive early if you want to try.

I’m so happy we found this place. They have an amazing selection of tasty vegetarian dishes. I had the lettuce tofu wraps and they were delicious. I didn’t have a chance to try the pakoras we got to share because I couldn’t stop eating the wraps. The service was very good as well. I’ll be back to try more from Green Lettuce.

I cant believed chinese food can marry to an indian food… what a perfect blending of spices. traditional chinese cuisine inspired by indian cooking experties… service not bad, noise level a bit high, diverse clientele, small parking at the rear that can house 10 compact cars… accept credit/debit/cash… Attire is come as you wish… old indian fashion decors… pretty neat… and mostly line up… for those whose tongue are for curry and spices well i gez this is the right place for you… reasonable price… pride of vancouver…
