I didn’t even think that Sushi can be that terrible in Vancouver. When I came in there was an obese little kid sitting in front of the TV and without even saying hello, he just placed me somewhere and went back to the TV. The waiter didn’t say hello either, just showed up and said«Ae you ready?» The tuna rolls were terribly roolled. I could have done that better. And some of the fish wasn’t even chewable anymore. The good thing was the tea I really liked that and the soup was decent either. Other than that, horrible in anything.

God awful! The sushi rolls I had were horrible. Not at all fresh or authentic. I had a roll with shrimp that had not been deveined and still had the shell! I. THINK. I’M. GOING. TO. BE. SICK.

My entire dining experience can be summed up simply by the adjective, «Meh.» There is nothing remarkable about the sushi, and there is fierce competition on this block. The staff are friendly, and service is OK. Overall, given the quality of sushi restaurants in Vancouver, Fumiyoshi does not hold up to its peers.

i would definitely agree with the other Unilocal reviewers — this place is mediocre. it’s not terrible, but nothing you would get excited about paying hard earned money for. i had their lunch combo of teriyaki beef and california roll. not bad, but nothing special for $ 9.

If there is no star I would give no star. First I ordered a fried tofu but there are fried ants in it. After I told the waitress she didn’t appologize just give me another plate, I would thought it is on the house or discounted? Nope, the thai people open Japanese store definately have their own style. Plus, my friend ordered a bowl of katsu don; according to her the chicken was dry and tasted nothing like a katsu don supposed to taste like.

I make a point of coming here every time I’m in Vancouver. They’ve never failed me when bringing big wooden boards of salmon and toro sashimi. Their alaska roll is satisfying, as is the goma-ae.

[This review should be sung to the tune of Young MC’s «Bust a Move”] This here’s a tale for all the fellas Tryin to find sushi and feelin hellish Get a hankerin for sashimi with no stankin relish Know your sushi and don’t embellish Ok smartie, go to Van-city Sushi on every corner and you’re sittin pretty You work at west pender Lunchtime means a sushi bender Walk round the block, find Fumiyoshi Check out the menu and order from Hoshi Food is served and you’re stone cold munchin’ Music comes on, people start to dance But then you ate so much you nearly split your pants A girl starts walkin, guys start gawkin’ Sits down next to you and starts talkin’ Says she wanna sushi cus she likes the groove But DON’T EATATFUMIYOSHI just bust a move! Bottom line: this is one of the most mediocre sushi restaurants I have eaten at. Considering what’s available in Vancity — avoid at all costs!

This spot is slightly above your typical $ 6 for 18 pieces spot(a.k.a cheap Vancouver sushi). Fumiyoshi charges closer to $ 8 or $ 9. It’s a sit-down restaurant, although feel free to order take out. The staff do move very quickly and I’ve generally received my take out faster than when I eat-in. Expect good sashimi, sushi, and maki rolls — all the regular offerings you’ll find elsewhere in Vancouver. The bento boxes are popular, as always, with the lunch crowd. I like the window seats where you can look out over busy(ish) Howe Street. It’s also quite close to Canada Place if you feel like taking an after-lunch stroll.

Just had lunch there with a friend. They were quick to give me a bowl of miso soup. and I didn’t even have to use any bad«Mi-so hungry» jokes. I was there to meet a friend who works close by. I like the place because they have staff who hustle their butts off to make sure everyone in the place is happy. I ordered a california roll and it was at my table in less than five minutes. I ordered a dragon roll and a caterpillar roll. The avacado was fresh and the tempura was non greasy. Every time i go there it’s busy. If you’re going to go for lunch, call before for reservations. the place is small and fills quickly. But the service is so quick and the food preps have the fastest hands in the west… or maybe the east…
