I first fell in love with Flaming Angels at Circle Craft Christmas Market. And then I used to only be able to find her at local craft shows and artisan markets… but then she got a storefront on Main Street and I am hooked. Flaming Angels has awesome fabric in pillows, skirts, bags, clothes, and even takes custom orders. I got her to make a drawstring bag for my friend’s birthday(the bag is perfect for carrying around knitting projects) in the awesome sushi print fabric. The store also carries other local designers which is awesome. The perfect place to shop for alternative/goth/burlesque friends.

It’s not everyday that you come across a local designer that likes her work, easy to get along with, fair prices and very good accessible fashions. I saw her at the Circle Craft fair years ago and wanted to buy a Sushi skirt right then and there. The only problem from taking the lovely piece home that day, my hips were too big(you can blame that on my mom). Thankfully Miram, the owner and designer, was able to fashion me out the same skirt in my size. It is hard to find good goth and alternative clothes that cater to me, therefore, local designed stuff or D.I.Y stuff on etsy seem to be my only option these days. I visited the store a few times when it was downtown, however, the look and the feel of the Main Street location surpasses that. Quality and cool awesome stuff.

A local designer and a small business all in one! Flaming Angels makes alternative/goth clothes for men and women and also carries a lot of local designers brands, suck as Starfrukt, and Judy Basha Designs. Judy Basha makes corsets that are stronger than armour, I own two of them, so I know! I could probably get shot while wearing one of these corsets and not even feel a thing! Flaming Angels also carries consignment clothes, so if you bought a pretty dress, but are now too fat to fit in it, you can send it away to a good home, and make some cash at the same time. This store is currently located at the back of The Fall Tattoo & Piercing studio, but will be moving over to the old Red Cat location on Main Street and 27th in April, which works for me, cuz that’s my hood! Flaming Angels also sells tickets to upcoming events at the Rickshaw, for the Terminal City Rollergirls, or for events hosted by Restricted Entertainment. The staff are very knowledgeable about what’s going on in the city if you’re from out of town and looking for an idea of something to do, and are pretty helpful with suggesting items that are on sale or ones that suit your needs.

If you’re into punk/goth/fetish/lolita styles you should check out Flaming Angels Boutique. It’s a small store at the back of The Fall Tattoo and Piercing on Seymour across from The Bay. There are some really cute clothes that you could wear any day plus a lot of very stylized selections for making a distinct fashion statement. Many items are handmade local labels, such as STARFRUKT and Judy Basha, including the owner’s Flaming Angels label. My only complaint is that there aren’t always a lot of sizes available but I guess that’s what happens when your items aren’t being mass produced in sweat shops. There are tons of adorable accessories, lingerie, fridge magnets and even cute throw pillows in funky fabrics. There’s also a selection of guy-wear for your alternative man. I went in today and they’re having a blow out sale. I got a sweet ‘50s-inspired Flaming Angels polka-dotted blouse for a friend’s birthday. I also got a Judy Basha corset for myself. Both are beautifully handmade and both were on sale for ridiculously low prices.
