Man behind the counter was an absolute pill and not friendly at all. Felt like he was annoyed we were taking our time choosing(it was our first time there… so obviously it will take some time to decide). We then were trying to make the right amount of cash for him, and he got frustrated and just sort of chucked our change at as. How nice. We wanted to sit to enjoy and eat our 3 treats we bought, but we felt extremely uncomfortable and left right away. I don’t think that’s something you want to from your business. Correct? We then went to our car to eat the food(it was okay but nothing special). We won’t be returning.

Absolutely the best cookie sandwich I have ever eaten. I just finished a cookie ice cream sandwich, but this one from edible flours just blew my mind. A must try. Also available in gluten free. Will be back again soon!

I went in here after months of seeing it all over social media and I had been meaning to go, I was in the neighbourhood so I popped in. First impression: super minimalist — comes off as very cold and sterile. There’s very minimal seating and the display case is pretty tiny. I bought a gluten free chocolate chip cookie — which was totally 5 stars, best gluten free cookie I’ve ever had. However, the man working(who I’m assuming may be an owner) was not welcoming or conversational at all, he made very little effort customer service wise and made me feel like I needed to get out of there asap. I don’t even know if he made eye contact with me. Overall; amazing cookie, I’m sure the rest of the baked goods are just as great but the environment is hostile and so is the customer service. Definitely need to bump up the«warmth» of the establishment so customers want to come in, buy things and maybe stay for more than a minute.

The treats are absolutely delicious here, and the service is spectacular. Upon our second visit, my friend and I managed to make it just before closing. The baker was one of the sweetest(pun intended) people I’ve ever met. She generously gave us 6 free cupcakes since it was the end of the week, and we ended up sharing them among friends and a wide-eyed child passing by. Highly recommend this place for anyone with a sweet tooth!

I’m a big fan of supporting small independent shops but this one was a bit of a let-down. The bakery was empty when I visited and there was a lone female staff member behind the counter. She didn’t smile or greet me but I did see that she was about to start on some baking. Not very much was left for sale so my friend and I picked up a gluten-free chocolate chip cookie, gluten-free black & white cupcake and GF blueberry lemon scone to share. Everything was just average. Nothing spectacular. Will I be back? Probably not.

That guy behind the counter could have been more friendly. Maybe he was too proud of the products but the products in fact are not that good. The icing on top of the cupcake is too sweet. The cookie sandwich is nothing special. Lemonade Gluten-Free Bakery on Cambie street is better in terms of products and service.

The female staff was very friendly and helpful since it was my hubby and my first visit. We got 2 different flavours of cupcakes and found them tasted like muffin with very greasy frosting. We will try their cookies and cinnamon bun next time.

I ordered online on Monday and got my cake on Wednesday. Paul confirms my order through email fast. This is great for someone like me who do not like to talk on the phone. I am surprised when I first saw the cake. It is a subtle beauty cake as I Love the typography, the muted hazelnut colour and the perfectly done flower pattern along its border. This cake is a piece of art. My vegan friend loves the cake, it is a sweet cake. But of course, it’s a birthday cake!!! Thank you Edible flours! I will stop by again to check out those decent chocolates.

My hubby and I love Edible Flours so much, I wish we could go there every day. I really enjoy the cupcakes, the cookies, and the croissant, but my favorite is the cookie sandwich! OMG so yummy! Oh, my hubby wants me to say that he likes the doughnuts best. And Paul is such a nice guy(he might not get as excited as us North Americans, but please don’t mistake this for rudeness :)). I really like their coffee too. Now I have to tell you guys something. Edible flours created our wedding cake. A 3-tiered, beautiful, DELICIOUS wedding cake. The top tier was gluten free because I was avoiding gluten. Now, let me tell you– people still rave about the cake 6 months after the wedding. Most people accidentally had the gluten free cake, and they couldn’t even tell that it was vegan(let alone GF!). Everybody was telling us how amazing the cake was.

The best cupcake of my life(so far) is still the peanut butter and jelly flavoured one I had here about a year ago. I hope that flavour comes back more often! I also ordered a birthday cake from them a couple years ago. I had a guest who was gluten intolerant and they made her a GF cupcake in the same flavour(chocolate hazelnut). All my non-vegan guests really enjoyed the taste. I haven’t been by in a while as I’m not in this area much anymore, but today I was and could smell the cinnamon from the street. I had a cinnamon roll, still warm out of the oven. It was great, not as cloyingly sweet or excessively rich as some are, but still a treat. I agree with some reviews about the icing being a bit too sweet/rich. I usually scrape some icing off with cupcakes from any bakery, though, because most places pile on the icing to make it aesthetically pleasing. I don’t really mind removing some icing to enjoy what is otherwise a very good cake. And I don’t get the complaints about rude/cold service. They’ve always been helpful and kind to me.

I am addicted to their chocolate chip cookies but I do agree with some of the negative reviews on here… They need to go easy on the sugar

I tried to go Gluten Free a couple years ago, but it was tough, cause for me, the GF sweets didn’t taste right. My wife brought home an assortment of goods from this place and I didn’t even think to ask if it was GF or not, cause I still eat glutens sometimes. but I gotta say. there are some really good sweets from this place. The cupcakes I liked, the chocolate croissant was good and my favourite is probably the lemon cookie. It was all pretty good but these three are my go-to pick ups when I am passing by. I’m glad this place if in the hood, the GF sweets from the bigger stores haven’t convinced me yet. also I like how the donuts looks like the simpsons donut.

I hate going to London Drugs. Really, it’s an overpriced and frustrating store, and if it weren’t for Edible Flours, I would never volunteer to run the errands that involve London Drugs. But anything — even a trip to that fluorescent-lit hell — is worth a chance at Edible Flours! Okay, first of all, it’s a cute, clean, minimalist little shop with super friendly staff. Maybe first of all should be that THEBAKEDGOODSAREAMAZING. Everything I’ve tried there has been awesome! So many GF options and everything is vegan and people who hate GF vegan stuff would never even know! I just finished a gluten-free lemon blueberry scone that was perfect, just the perfect mix of moist and crumbly, with a great light lemon flavour. UGHYES So, go to Edible Flours. It’s right beside London Drugs.

Overly sweet. We were really looking forward to having some vegan baked goods, bit of a disappointment. The experience was even made worse with having to deal with two lifeless souls behind the counter. I did noticed other people had similar issues. Overall, not worth it. Can’t expect to add flavour by adding sugar.

O.M.G. As Edible Flours pops up in my places I have been and Unilocal is prompting me to review I remember why I love Vancouver so much. Why Vancouver is trying to steal my heart that Hawaii holds so dear. Vancouver has so many vegan friendly options and on both my trips this summer to Vancouver I made sure to try as many of them as I could. Edible Flours I tried on my second trip to Vancouver. Lucky for me it was within a mile of where I was staying. So I used my handy dandy Unilocal — mapped the directions, checked the hours and off I went. I walked around the block, because I truly stink at finding locations even with a map. It is embarrassing, I know. My husband gives me a hard time each and every time I have to navigate(But yet he still lets me navigate… Geez). This time though, I didn’t have him with me to correct my poor navigation skills. Hence why I walked around the block. Ooops. When I finally found It I was so excited. I love dessert and even better this was dessert that followed how I eat! Cue disappointment music. They were closed. They were gone for vacation. I might have considered crying. This was my ONLY day I was going to be done with training(The real reason I was in Vancouver the second time was training for work!) while they were still open. And I just walked a mile for no reason and I had to make the trek back to the condo empty handed. Fail. Fast forward a couple days. I finished my work training almost 2 full days early so what did that leave time for??? Edible Flours! I walked my butt off from training to Edible Flours the day I got done early(2.5 miles from where I was training to amazing eats)… And I did it because I remembered the sign on the door saying they would be open and back from vacation! YAY! I am SO glad I did. Service was very friendly. I ordered multiple items — some I ate right then in the café others I took with me to chow down on when I got back to the condo. Everything I had was amazing. I would go back again and take one of everything. My pocket book wishes I was kidding. Next time I’m in Vancouver I guarantee I will be back.

I don’t understand some of the reviews here. There are some very ignorant and rude people who sadly think they’re also comedians. So big shocker, cupcakes and baked goods are not fat free or sugar free. And that’s why I don’t eat them every week! But when we have a craving, Edible Flours is where we go. The cakes are consistently delicious. We ordered our wedding cakes last year from there and my husband orders my birthday cakes too. All are extraordinary: fresh and flavourful. Both gluten-free or conventional. Paul is nothing but helpful and passionate about what he does and we will continue to support the good vegan businesses of Vancouver. Hey Paul, if you read this, I would love to see a salted caramel cupcake on the menu, as well as danish pastries or tarts, vegan way!

I go to this place here and there since I work in the area. I’ve tried a variety of goodies here and I believe that the best is their cinnamon buns. They are ginormous, but not too gooey or overloaded with icing. That’s the way I personally like my cinnamon buns, but I know a lot of people prefer the sweeter ones. I’ve tried the cookies, brownies, and cupcakes before too. I’d say that the cookies are alright, but the brownies and cupcakes are also to die for. Pricewise, it’s expensive. My usual cinnamon bun purchase is $ 3.25 and a small slice of cake is $ 5. Keep in mind this is a vegan and gluten-free bakery, so it will be more than your average bakery. Due to the prices, I try not to come in too often. However, I bet vegan and gluten-free people will be thrilled about having more options for baked goods. One last thing: PAYNOATTENTIONTOWHATPEOPLESAYABOUTTHEOWNERS!!! Paul is a very nice guy and I have talked to him many times. I don’t understand why people call him arrogant or rude. I have never once experienced bad service from him or Alli(the other owner and his wife). Sure, maybe they are quiet, but they are very kind. Just talk to them and see for yourself.

The sugary sweet aroma constantly floating out the front door is dangerous… as it usually sucks me right in. These treats are tasty, but some are SOSUGARY that I can’t quite finish them. Those treats are best shared or eaten in two sittings. The icing on the cupcakes comes in copious amounts and will definitely put you in a coma. The Chocolate Brownie Cookie has been my favourite so far. I will probably just keep trying all the things. I enjoy their quaint little seating area. I also love that they sell VegNews Magazine for when I feel like a Rockefeller. 3⁄30

As a vegan I was intrigued by an all vegan bakery… but after trying a few things I can say I have no interest in going back. I contemplated getting them to make me a birthday cake this month but after having another cupcake I decided it would be a very bad idea. I don’t need any more sugar headaches or to feel really sick from eating their treats. As a vegan chef myself(who writes recipe books) my goal is to make healthier options that are tasty and still good for you. I can say that everything made here is indulgence indulgence indulgence and they go WAY too heavy on the sugar and earth balance. That frosting is killer! It’s so fatty and sugary you have to scrape most of it off or you can’t eat the cupcakes. They look gorgeous but it’s just overkill, humans are not made to enjoy pure sugar and pure fat, there has to be something else with it or it’s just too unappetizing and overwhelming. The banana bread with chocolate chips is pretty good, it was a little too oily still. I like a little applesauce in mine instead for moisture. The cinnamon bun was decent. I can’t say it would ever win a Cinnabon fan over, but I doubt any vegan cinnamon bun would. Perhaps a tofutti cream cheese icing would be tastier? I’ve tried a few cupcakes, the mocha, red velvet, chocolate, and some peanut butter fudge/chocolate one. The red velvet was decent, not too sweet(i think it’s made with beets) but more like a light muffin, the peanut butter one did me in. It was just too much of everything I could only eat half of it before I had to put it away, I felt so sick minutes later. I don’t think the point of a treat is to give you a headache and make you feel ill, so perhaps they might do some lower sugar, less frosting options for those that can’t handle that. They use agave in their recipes instead of sugar believing it is healthier, but just google dangers of agave and you will see that studies show it’s JUSTASBAD as high fructose corn syrup with how it is processed(in a very unnatural way) and that it acts just like high fructose corn syrup in the body. I think it has potential but it’s just not quite right yet. I’ve been to some vegan bakeries in Seattle, Portland and Berkley and they were FAR far better. Check out Bouteloua Bakery , I accidentally got a gluten free chocolate cupcake and I swear to god it was the best cupcake I’d ever had and you’d never be able to tell it was gluten free. They have better icing too. I don’t say these things to be mean, but perhaps to challenge the bakers/owners to tweak some things based on honest feedback, because I love when vegan places are successful. I just think they can do better by not using the lowest common denominator and making everything a sugar and earth balance bomb that you immediately regret. The goods here are also not cheap, quite an expensive treat that you may or may not enjoy. I guess I didn’t need such a large sampling as most things are made with too much sugar and fat. I often wonder why restaurants load things up with so much fat because if they were smart, people would eat more(thus buy more and they would make MORE money) if things were a little lower in calories and fat. But when half a cupcake can put you under, why would you buy more than 1 thing from here? The mini cupcakes they sell to Karmavore are a good idea but less frosting would be appreciated!(No doubt things could be cheaper too with less frosting and also make people think it’s a better deal and buy more as well.) Size, pricing and richness are very important factors when taking your business from doing ok to very profitable.

I’m no vegan, by choice or by force, and I devour sweet treats like they’re going out of style. In my books, baked goods reign supreme. They are untouchable. So to hear of a place that is reimagining the magic formula of egg, butter etc. to taste like the real deal? Intrigued. Skeptical. But curious enough to make my 1st foray into a vegan bakery. Delusions of negative calories aside, I went for the most indulgent item in the case that day. Cookie sandwich($ 3.50): — «cookies = fudgy, chocolate brownies studded within an inch of its life w/meltingly gooey choco chips — filling = über sweet vegan-ified choco cream. Being mystified by the ingredients was half the taste. — don’t let the trappings fool you, this is no lightweight snack. It’s downright decadent! My one gripe: The cramped display case makes for rushed decisions. I’d rather not have a faceoff with the cashier the whole time I’m perusing so I can make my choice sans pressure!
