Colony has two things going for it:(1) a wonderful patio for people watching and(2) $ 3 sleeves beer for happy hour. The food is the standard pub fare, prices maybe a tad much for some of the menu items, but I was happy to see they had deep fried pickles on the menu! Overall a decent spot to stop for a drink, especially on a sunny day!

Now that it’s bright and sunny these days, I love making the trip out to Colony for casual drinks with my friends! The whole wall is opened up so that the inside of the restaurant is open to the patio, and so much sunlight shines in and lights up the whole place. So, if by any chance there isn’t a spot on the patio, you can still sit inside and get some sun! I’ve been to both the main street location and Kitsilano, which are both very similar, but I would probably prefer the Main street one based on convenience. I also love how the chairs at the Main street location are painted yellow — it bring’s such a happy cheerful mood to the place :) The food is great! I love ordering the deep fried pickles, or the fig /boursin pizza. Yum! They’re great for sharing… but if you’re super hungry, the portion size is definitely reasonable to substitute as an entrée too The only thing that was a bit annoying was how there are not hook in the bathroom… what If I need to hang up my jacket or my purse?! Not gonna lie, it was a struggle! I thought. maybe a guy designed this bathroom and didn’t think of adding such a small, «trivial» thing… but I noticed it, lol! Who knows, maybe someone will read my review and add a few hooks. Overall, great place to hang out and just chill. Would recommend!

Really like this place. They have a small selection of rotating beers which switch out often and several mainstays. The wings are really good. Oh and they have a great trivia night on Mondays!

As a single woman I go to a few bars alone and have a drink or even dinner, at the bar. I’m careful to not take up a full table and am polite… but I was literally invisible here. Ten minutes to get a beer. Ordered food at same time because I thought I may not get another chance… food delivered by kitchen staff in under 15 mins. Great. Not ONCE was I approached by the bar or any server to see if ok or if(heaven forbid) I needed a refill. I seriously felt invisible. Maybe it’s better in a group? Menu looks extensive. Not alot of vegetarian options bit seemed ok to help me out as a single female I’m disapointed though.

Was here earlier tonight for a Unilocal event, but this review is based on the extra food we had(ordered at our own cost) & overall experience at Colony. The ambience here is similar to that of a typical pub. Service was good. Food: We had the Poutine and the Pesto prawn flatbread. Like most pub grub, both items were pretty salty(so you get thirsty and order more beer, lol!) Aside from being a tad too salty, they were both decently tasty. I especially liked the juicy prawns that were atop the flatbread. We didn’t have any beers this time, so I can’t say anything about their beer selection or taste. The red wine, Coke, and orange juice that we did have were pretty standard stuff. They also have a pinball machine at the back of the pub. So old school! Overall, a decent pub to chill at with some friends for snacks and a couple of drinks. Convenient location along West Broadway, and relatively simple to find free parking in the residential area nearby.

Loved this place! Was visiting the area and went here for brunch. No wait for 2 people. Lots of gluten free options for me. They also had cider mimosas; delicious! Very friendly staff and cool environment. I’ll be back when I’m in the area again!

Meh. This place used to be Mr. Brownstone, which was a whole lot of average. So I thought this would definitely be an improvement when I went there to meet some friends. Not sure this is the case. I had a pound of wings, which were a bit pricey and not very tasty. My gf had the chicken burger and a salad, which looked pretty good. I had a bite, the burger sure was good. Again, the price seemed a bit steep for the portion size, at least to me. The ambience is alright, not too loud so you can have a conversation without yelling too much. Lots of screens with sports and movies. Service was decent, although our waitress seemed a bit new. All in all, place has potential and I will likely give it another chance, see what some of the other food is like. Their happy hour looks good, unfortunately I missed this this time around.

I didn’t find the food selection all too amazing. I felt prices were pretty high.

The happy hour is amazing– $ 3 highballs or draft beer between 3 – 6 on weekdays. Otherwise you’re looking at $ 10 for 1.5oz to 2oz cocktails and $ 5.50 for beer. Nice room with lots of natural light to make you feel like you’re on a patio even in the middle of winter. We only tried the fries, which were fine, but can’t speak to any of the rest of the food. Service was friendly but slowish. I think there was only one server for the entire room the afternoon we were there. Not a deal breaker, but given similar comments on other reviews, I think I’d avoid this place if I was on a tight timeline.

Nice atmosphere– large TV screens by the bar if you want to catch the game. The lemon pepper fries were delicious! However, the service there was awful. You cant tell who is your server. The server took forever to take our orders, didn’t refill our water, took forever to come by to settle the bill(didn’t separate/ask to). The food there was basic. flatbread was okay. Not great. would go again just for the drinks.

If the Colony was actually a colony, I would join without second thought. Some friends and I wanted to go for drinks and some grubby bar food around 9 on a Friday night. As I virtually strolled down Main Street on Unilocal,I noticed the Colony Bar. «Huh, where have I heard that before?» I asked myself. After consulting with a friend, I realized that I had been to the other location in Kits. I didn’t remember much about the Kits Colony, so we decided to give the Main Street location a shot. And let me tell you, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The atmosphere was warm, and the crowds were mainly young professionals, mostly in groups of 4 or so, chatting and laughing boisterously. There was a huge birthday party going on in the back though, so that contributed to a lot of the sound. But enough about the ambience, and let’s cut to the important things in life/this review. Beers and ciders on tap, great. All between $ 4 – 6 for the most part. The Crunchy Chicken Sandwich changed my life. Buttermilk fried chicken, arugula, pickled red onions, and maple mayo all lovingly placed between a brioche bun. It was so good that 3 of my 4 dining companions ordered it. Do yourself a favor, and spend your $ 13.65 the best way humankind knows how.

Both Colony locations are well designed and decorated. I started my Colony career on the West Broadway location where I would go for drinks with co-workers after longer days. When I moved to the east side and saw a familiar sign, I decided to stop in. The visit did not disappoint. The bar was busy with lots of different people, the TVs were all playing a sports game of some sort and everyone was having a good time. The drink deals are always good and the variety of beer that was on top when I went in was to my satisfaction. Tried a few new brews and went on my way. I’ll go back for sure!

Beer Battered Lemon Pepper Fries. A wonderful bar in Kitsilano, with big TVs to watch sports, great food and more than affordable drink specials. Unfortunately, some of their food items are hit/miss, like the risotto balls and the very sour and oddly textured salads. As well, some times our servers will get our orders wrong because they don’t write anything down(missed drink order, missed sides, wrong side etc.) Nevertheless, it’s still my favorite go-to bar in Kitsilano!

I love this place! Came here yesterday with my boyfriend for the first time after hearing about the other location from a friend. I loved the beer specials($ 4 for a Red Truck/Red Racer beer/highball on a Friday night, cant go wrong there!) and the atmosphere was solid with super friendly bartenders! We ordered the Franks’s Red hot wings with blue cheese sauce on the side. Super tasty and fresh, some of the best wings I’ve ever had! Will definitely be back again! :)

Beer battered fries! The bomb. Tried just about all the appies on the menu while watching the Canucks game with a few peeps! Who needs veggies… not on a Friday! Add some $ 4 Red Truck lager and all is good. Really great place to hang out. They take reservations for large groups too! I can’t wait to come to Monday trivia night and Sunday brunch.

It’s rare when I become a fan of a place after just one visit. But it is so with Colony. This is a simple, non-pretentious place that serve up a uncomplicated selection of booze and simple but very solid food. This is a place that I’d like to come back to. The menu is simple, but strongly identifies with the vibe of this place: it’s a classic diner with a bar, but with a modern face-lift and fresh twists. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with lemon fries. The dish was simply presented, and perfectly portioned — which, IMO is when every bite taste good, and you finish satisfied but not bloated. The chicken sandwich was well balanced with the arugula and picked onion, and the chicken is crispy but not greasy. The brioche bun ties everything together with its soft texture and slightly eggy flavor. I liked the fries, but they were too vinegary for my taste. I would definitely try the garlic fry the nxt time! I did not have been on my visit, but the list is full of local favorites such as Whistler, Parallel 49, and Red Racer. It will both appease the micro brew connoisseur and those who love the classic but want to try something new.

Ok so I’ve been to the Kits spot but I think this one is better. Mind you that was an odd night… but anyways… on to the review! Our waitress was really good. She was super friendly though wasn’t as attentive as we would have liked. I should note that it was 4 pm and super dead in there, so I have no idea what she was doing. lol. Though I must give her credit, she gave good recommendations and knew her stuff… so It’s all good girl! lol I love the drink selection for beer here. I actually tried some different beers that I loved! Yum! I could have stayed here way longer than we did. We also ordered poutine, which was good but not great. I don’t like a dark gravy on my poutine. So it was ok. Ambiance was cool and laid back. It was also clean which is a feeling I don’t get from the Kits location lol. Main street is awesome and I’m glad they are a new addition to the area.

Solid new spot on Main. GREAT drink specials, even on the weekend. I find that most places will have amazing drink specials for the week but then cheap out on the weekend, but a $ 4 highball on a Saturday night is nothing to complain about. Rotating beers are pretty good too, not the same things that other places have all the time. Food was above average. I regret not getting the lemon pepper fries, they are definitely the star of this restaurant. My friend added pulled pork to them and enjoyed it. My favourite part of my experience here, though, was the waitress trying to hilariously bullshit us when she misunderstood the question we were asking her. Me: What is the Yellow Dog beer? Her: Oh well the owner grew up with this like, Yellow Lab, and then he named the brewery after him. Me: Oh um… I mean, is it like, a lager, IPA, etc? Her: Oh haha… it’s a pale ale. My table literally laughed for the rest of the time we were there because it was so funny. Her straight face while feeding us some silly story was priceless. I’ll be back! Maybe next time they’ll have another story to tell me.

New place with wide selection reasonable price beer, wine and cocktails, service is excellent, its like a wooden place all wood… patio sitting available, clean wash room, good finger foods that goes with your drink, i noticed that beer is a bit cheaper here, i love the finger foods, the nachos not so much coz i know a place that serves the best nachos in town and that place is not even mexican, my self and few friends had few drinks… noise level high, no smoking area by the front, big tv screen, large high chairs and tables, wifi free and street parking. accept card and cash, our server is from new zealand very friendly… overall we had a good time and pleasant experience,…neat place to get drunk. hahahha

Brand new on Main St, in a nice space all wood and stone. Filled with classy hip but relaxed people. A good selection of beers in a spacious not too noisy environment. I like the fact they can open the windows on the street in summer time. I have to come again to test the cocktails and the food. I also never tried their original location on broadway so I cannot compare.
