Having read so many glowing reviews, I was excited to try it out. I’m still in mourning for the now closed Yan Ming, so I am always on the lookout for a good local Chinese. So many good reviews, how bad could it be? Well, it was mediocre at best. Really, quite disappointing. We ordered a hot and sour soup to start. Nice flavour. Not gloppy. A little thinner than some, but decent. I was optimistic. House Special Chow Mien was a pile of brown noodles with a few shrimps and the odd bit of meat. Really disappointing. This is the house special? Really weak. Orange Beef, again, a house special, was okay, but kind of doughy. Nice flavour, but also a fairly small portion. Deep fried tofu with garlic tasted like it had been deep fried some time ago. Rather dry and hard. Steamed rice portion was very tiny. Only ordered one because usually one is a decent amount to share. Not here. Still looking for a good place that delivers to Kits.

Go here for fresh, reliable, and simple chinese food. I have been there many times and am never disappointed.

I love eating at Chin Ho for several reasons, the first being that the food is of GREAT quality. You know when you order something that looks really great at a Chinese food joint but when you get a couple of bites into it you get a bad case of the icks? Yeah, that’s never happened to me here. Never have I gotten any bits of cartilage in my sweet and sour pork or insanely fatty hunks of beef in my chop suey. I don’t know about you, but that’s my food equivalent of nails on a chalk board… They always have awesome lunch specials advertised on their sandwich board outside, usually running for under $ 8. The portions are really generous as well. If you live in the neighborhood you should totally take advantage of their delivery services, their minimum is a minuscule $ 15! That being said, eating in is always a pleasure; it might not be the biggest dining area in the world(5 – 6 tables) but the service is always really friendly. I should mention that this is a dry restaurant though, so if you’re looking to have a beer with your meal you’re out of luck. Honestly though, Chinese food, wonton soup specifically, is my hangover cure-all so the lack of alcohol has always been a comfort when I’m already a little green from the night before. Hands down the best Chinese in the UBC/Point Grey neighborhood.

This cute little place is very home-style! This is my second time coming to this place. The first time was organizing a charity event which consisted of 200+ people and the President of that particular company had given me a budget to work with, and I found Chin Ho’s prices fairly reasonable. Their menu has lots of variety and their food portions were huge. Everyone at that event stated that the food was delicious and had asked for the menu and the name of the restaurant. With that being said, I kept this little place at heart for future references. The second time I ordered a Fried Szechuan Style Green Bean, Tofu with Mixed Vegetables, Pineapple Sweet & Sour Boneless Pork and of course, rice to go with these side dishes. The Green Beans were phenemonal… I’ve been to many restaurants and had experiences where the beans were soggy, too oily litterally dripping with oil or the flavor wasn’t top-notch. The beans were crispy and flavorful. Unbelievable. I loved it. 5 out of 5 for this dish. Next was the tofu with mixed vegetables, they were great too! It was evenly mixed and the veggies were freshed. Last but not least, the Pineapple Sweet & Sour Boneless Pork ws FAB-U-LOUS! The pork was not fatty… that’s a BIGBONUS! I really loved it! I left this place with a smile on my face. *stamps the restaurant list mentally in my head* VERYSATISFIED!

Wow! Fastest delivery ever. I phoned in an order and it was delivered 10 minutes later. The menu has a zillion dishes, so I randomly selected three(one noodle dish, one rice and one veggie dish). All were very good. Definitely at the high-end of what i would expect for take-out food. The prices are reasonable, and they’ll deliver any order of $ 15 or more. Bottom line: I’ll be ordering from Chin Ho again.
