Absolutely disgusting. Not very hygienic at all. I will be contacting BC Coastal Health once I’ve heard from the owner. I’d like him to try to resolve the situation, first. He doesn’t seem like a reasonable man, though. His staff are poorly trained and extremely ignorant toward the gravity of the situation. I tried calling to report a few things and a very rude lady over there got all defensive when I was just trying to help. She hung up on me when I asked to speak to her boss. I then had to track down the owner myself and still haven’t heard back from him. Probably because he doesn’t care about his customers. The ham and cheese croissant sandwiches are about $ 9 for the thinnest slice of ham the machine would allow, and the thinnest slice of cheese on a tiny croissant. These sandwiches are so sad looking that they probably get bullied by other sandwiches. How they get away with disrespecting our intelligence is beyond me. If you are an intelligent person, it is in your best interest to stay away from Caffe Artigiano. Such an unfortunate waste of a business. The owner should be ashamed of himself and stop cutting corners before someone gets sick or ripped off. Terrible hygiene and terrible value. Terrible food and the worst coffee. Go to a real coffee shop. None of this phoney garbage.

Based solely on the espresso drinks this is a four star shop. I ordered a small au lait not too hot(135 F) and it was outstanding! I went two days in a row and had two different baristas and zero variation. This is the hallmark of an excellent coffeehouse. I specifically was looking for an excellent pastry shop. But this was NOT it. I could tell the pastries came from off site and did not look appetizing. I settled for yogurt with granola. It got the job done, it wasn’t earth shattering delicious or anything.

I was there for breakfast and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the smoked salmon eggs Benedict — it was one of the best egg dishes I’ve ever had. The coffee was pretty good, though it should be noted that their cappuccino is just a small latte. The presentation and latte art was good also. The only reason they aren’t getting 5 stars is because the wait was horrible. Breakfast food should not take 45 minutes! If you have a lot of time for a breakfast and you are willing to drop $$$, I highly recommend this place.

Super snotty staff. They don’t understand the difference between a cappuccino and a latte.

Nice place to sit down for catch up with friends. They offer a great selection of baked goods. However, I thought the downtown location’s coffee tasted better. Also the cleanliness of the washrooms is lacking.

One of my favourite spots to grab coffee in this city. Their espressos are delicious. I also love their breakfast menu. They only lack gluten free options for pastries and toast which is disappointing for an upscale Café.

For a location with heavy traffic I find that this one has a lot more selection in terms of pastry. The staff seem to be nicer at this location as well. There is some sitting room, however, this is more of a grab and go situation. I am not a huge fan of the way they make their lattes, however, their London Fog is decent.

My favourite CA for both action and work purposes, great for lunch especially just for convenience purposes. Quite large and deep, bigger than Hornby. when working on laptop, I stay away from the bench seating right by lineup, a bit too close for comfort haha, as per pic. coffee is good but their yogurt with granola and berry fruit much better than Starbucks. best priced as well for under $ 4. and Happy Planet smoothies available too.

Terribly customer service — so much attitude! And they shamed me and my friend’s mum on separate occasions for being confused about our drink orders. Several staff members will come over to let you know that you have no idea of what you’re talking about(thanks, I already apologized for that) and then laugh about you loudly within earshot while the supervisor who took your order looks daggers at you. So glad that it’s not just me who thinks the staff here are incredibly rude!

I love this coffee stop. Ive been going here for years before work to get my usually espresso — which is really one of the best in town. The espresso beans are just amazing quality. Spanish latte and the breakfast wrap is highly recommended!
Horrible Service, was referred by Concierge. Staff unhelpful. Screwed up the order and did not bring complete order. Manager unhappy.

I’m a coffee drinker and world traveler. This is the best I have had yet. Either espresso or drip — NICE! SMOOTH! Try it.

Excellent spot for coffee. Solid mocha and vanilla latte. Paninis and baked goods. Outdoor tables for city watching. Very nice interior. Not much more to say. If you care about coffee, this is your go to spot.

Wonderful drinks, bench seating, cozy and tasty sandwiches. We hung out here for a bit before heading back home on the Amtrak Cascades to the 206. There’s a neat newspaper rod selection on a wall rack. It hogs the table, though. :)

I had to return, after having the best French toast ever last fall. Almost as good this year! Difference was the fruit compote layer last year was pear, which was much better than the peach this year. Great coffee too Definitely a favorite.

I love the coffee here, and whenever I ask for a tall in a grande cup, extra hot, they fill it right up(I don’t want so much mocha). Great service, amazing coffee(even though it is pricey).

fan of Arti’s for just under 4 years… most stores are excellent… the store on W. Broadway(3200 block) seems to be struggling… I used to be a frequent guest but no longer

**in re– reading this review, I realize that I didn’ t paint this establishment in the correct light. Thus, a quick edit…** First of all, I’ll say that I’d rather patronize Café Artigiano~ any of the available locations~ rather than pretty much any of the other chains, franchises, or multi– unit café’s out there. Second. this one particular location is my favorite. I like the quietness, the lived in feeling. and it doesn’t hurt that I used to come here on Sundays for breakfast with my wife. so, there’s heartwarming memories attached to this one location. Due to proximity, I rarely get down to this one now. I’m most frequently found at the Fairview Slopes location. But, all in all~ any café artigiano is miles above the others… service, attentiveness, honesty, and damned good product(s).

Great place to grab a nice mocha. I still find the location on Howe a little better on most days but this place ain’t bad depending on the barista. Lots of seats, very open, perfect for studying with plenty of power outlets for your laptops. Come here if u don’t like the crowded feeling of the Howe location. The people traffic also seems to be lighter here. Close to the skytrain station so easy walk if you live outside of downtown. My only complaint: NOFREE WiFi! Grr… luckily, I can easily tether with my iPhone 4 but for those without smartphone data plans this may be a deterrent. It’s still my preferred location out of all of them for these reasons. Thumbs up!

The best of the best. By that I mean the best location of the best coffee chain in the city. Note that all my coffee reviews are based solely on espresso quality: I don’t take into account any steamed-milk concoctions that arguably require, or at least result in, more nuance(and thus more chance of failure). Latte art is right out. Of course, espresso can be highly nuanced too, and my particular taste is for the dark, creamy, almost burnt variety that the Artigianos(and JJ Beans) specialize in. If you’re into a lighter, smoother espresso, I suggest Elysian Room or Everything Café. N.B. This particular location also has a kitchen(complete with cranky old mustachioed cook), so you can get a proper breakfast or lunch here, in addition to the pre-made baking and sandwiches on offer at most other CAs.

artigiano just gets their lattes right so don’t even waste your time with starbucks or blendz. the place has a very hipster feel like most coffee shops in la so i felt right at home. location was also key because vancouver being vancouver in the winter meant rain, bone-chilling cold, and more rain so being just around the corner from the marriott was a godsend. if only they stayed open past 5pm… what’s up with that?

I recently overheard this conversation at the coffee machine at work as a lady filled her mug. «Getting your caffeine hit» «Yes, but I usually don’t drink this crap I drink the good stuff from Starbucks». WTF!!! Perhaps I have been spoiled coming from somewhere where good espresso is not hard to find. In Vancouver where some people think Starbucks and Blenz is a good point of reference, it can be tough to find a nice coffee. Artigiano has given me the best coffee I have had in Vancouver so far but was still only good and not great. Extra points for serving in and actual ceramic cup rather than a ridiculous paper one. Coffee«art» is a bit of a contentious point with me although it does at least show there is some kind of passion for the craft. Not a bad atmosphere in this place either, warm and cozy. I am still on a mission to find the best but Artigiano is in number one spot for now.

Funny this address wasn’t listed on Unilocal. I’m giving it five out of five all due to the meal. The Uovo Napolitano? Molto Bene! Bravo! Poached eggs on toasted bread with provolone, tomatoes and sausage. This with two cups of great coffee(just straight coffee, no latte thank you) orange juice and a blueberry muffin — $ 18.77 Canadian which as of this writing equals $ 14.78US. Not all Caffe Artigianos serve this brunch menu, call or check their website first.
