Went here recently for my wife’s birthday brunch. It was great and lots of parking in the hood. Good Caesars, food, mimosas and beer. Great service although we were the only people there for most of the meal. The food was all superb as others have testified. It’d be a shame to see this place disappear. They even made us custom Raddlers when we explained what it was. I recommend the benny(ask for extra hollandaise) and the hash, yum!

I love this place. The food was awesome. I ordered the Burgundy Hash and will be back for that again for sure. My wife ordered the Crabcake Bennies. I was able to weasel my way in on her meal as well and it was so good. They make the crab cakes with quinoa so it is good and good for you! Looking forward to coming back and trying dinner here too. Prices were good and the food was great. I will be back!

First time here and I am blown away. Food was incredible, ambiance so unique and beautiful. A true must try Vancouver classic. Vegetarian + gluten free options — we had Prosciutto Benny and Beef Dip. #BESTBeefDip EVER! Make every effort to get in here for #SundayBrunch or dinner… You will love it!

Dropped by for a quick«dinner» and drinks after work. Super friendly bartender/server hybrid person(hi Joshua!), and he put up with my grouchiness(towards other people, not towards him!). — ONLYTHINGONTHETABLE: Beef Tartar: Avocado, balsamic onions, crostini’s — $ 14 — Unfortunately, I wasn’t in the mood for much of the menu items so I got my tried-and-true comfort food. The added balsamic onions hidden between the tartare and avocados were a great touch, but let’s not forget to mention the unexpectedly wonderful pairing of avo + raw meat was pretty slick. Give it a try, raw meat lovers.

Oh gosh, this place was bad! Friendly service, but that was the only saving grace. The décor was completely hodge-podge and didn’t make good use of the space. The food was boring, and uninspired. My date had potatoes that were very undercooked on his plate, and the pasta I had lacked flavour and seasoning. We went because we had a groupon and I’m very glad we didn’t have to pay full pop for this.

Great spot for brunch. Food was really good. Excellent accommodation of gluten/dairy free with enthusiasm. Boeuf bourguignon hash was excellent and changed to accommodate no g/d. Crab cakes were great as well. Sat in the sun and read the paper. Highly recommended tucked between acme and save-on.

Came by for brunch with one of my best girlfriends. We dubbed for sharesies and ordered: Beef Bourginon Eggs Benny, and Crab cake eggs Benny. The beef bourginon eggs Benny was INSANE. a big ol’ bowl filled with a delicious beef bourginon — perfectly flavoured gravy, tender pieces of filet, pearl onions, and rustic carrots and roast potatoes. Balanced on top of that were two poached eggs and some chevre. It’s served with some delicious buttered baguette points for dipping. I was a big wary of splitting the yolks into the gravy, and while it was definitely still tasty it was a unique experience! haha. That being said, I wouldn’t necessary call it a «benedict» with the lack of hollandaise… but beef bourginon, with poached eggs it was. And it was delicious in its own right. The second plate we had — the crab cakes benny, was a benny in all its glory. Crab cake, topped with avocado, topped with poached egg, topped with hollandaise. The crab cakes are gluten free, and made with quinoa and crab. The one I had was a bit too quinoa forward, and could have done with some more crab, but was still tasty nonetheless. This was a SUPER rich dish. Buttery crab, with buttery avocado, with buttery egg yolk and buttery hollandaise. Out of the two, my favourite was absolutely the Beef Bourginon. I kept eating it well after I was full, and didn’t feel too blah or heavy afterward. It was a rainy day and it was the perfect warm your belly hearty dish to match such a day. Atmosphere wise — you walk in from the ever-lovely downtown eastside, into a magical beautiful tealight 20’s style atmosphere. It’s comforting, warming, and you feel like you could stay for hours sipping wine and trying different plates. The owners are truly lovely, and will make you feel at home and welcome. When I’ve been here for dinner, it was the perfect romantic hideout, and definitely worth your time to check out! Will be back again and again and again.

Had a groupon expiring and so went to check out the restaurant. It’s a retro environment and very friendly staff. Our waiter was cool and the food was good. We ordered their starters scallop and polenta & crab cakes. The crab cakes were a bit dry. The portions are not huge and the prices are high. We had their home made Mac and cheese pasta, my favorite. The beef and scallop entres were tasty. The groupon made the prices reasonable.

Came here with a Groupon(as did everyone else, apparently). It was one of the best overall meals I’ve had in a long time. It was about six-seven on a Wednesday and we were the only people in the place, which is a goddamned shame. Had the tuna nicoise, the scallops & polenta, beef bourguinion, and the pork tenderloin. Everything was great from start to finish. The tuna nicoise was great: a good portion of tuna, perfectly cooked egg, potatoes, arugula and an olive tapenade. Scallops were a good size, wonderfully cooked, and the polenta was well seasoned. The pork was a stuffed tenderloin with roasted purple potatoes, seasonal vegetables and a cherry demiglace. A lot if flavor and not at all overcooked. The beef was also cooked really well with a rich sauce, pearl onions, carrots and mushrooms, with bread for the rest of the sauce. There were also mashed potatoes which got a bit lost, but that was the biggest complaint I could think of. Oh, and the cocktails were great!

Small and intimate, simple menu with great presentation and flavor. Try the Wild Mushroom Brulee for a starter.

Groupon brought me here. Came to dine with a friend, we both ordered and shared everything. We started with an amuse bouche, crab cakes, beef tartare. I didn’t mind the crab cakes, they had quinoa mixed in them so they aren’t as dense as your usual crab cakes, however for my friend, she felt they were too dry. Our least favourite was the beef tartare, just the mix of flavours, was a bit off putting for us. Raw nickel sized chunks of meat with grated parmesan/asiago(something quite nutty) and a small thin layer of avocado on the base. The grated cheese made it taste ‘off’ and within the chunks, I had a few tendon-y bits. I had to ask her to turn away as I really had to spit it out. We also added the tuna nicoise which was a good choice to break up the tartare flavour prior to our mains. Followed by our beef bourguignon and tagliatelli with puttanesca. We quite enjoyed both. It was a very very rainy day & night. It was definitely needing a stew like dish. Neither of us could finish the desserts, but the waiter/maitre d, was sweet enough to hunt down lids for us since they were served in short mason jars! SO cute! The one thing that would bring me back is the maitre d. SO funny, charming and very attentive!

Pretty good experience here. We purchased the Groupon and what we really appreciated was that you could choose from the menu for the groupon(with the exception of the cheeses). We went with the Tuna Nicoise(which I had no idea how to pronounce) and the beef tartar for appetizers. The Nicoise was good, the tuna was really nicely flavoured and almost smoky. The beef tartar came with Crustinis which were quite a good combo. There wasn’t a ton of seasoning to the tartar however, the avocado actually took over the dish which is rare for avocado to do. For mains we had beef bourguignon(as someone else recommended) and the scallop polenta. The beef was well cooked, fell apart and overall a nice dish. I think the dish is limited in how good it can be, but it was good overall. The scallop polenta was really good, scallops were perfectly cooked and went really well with the polenta. Overall, again, the food was good but the flavours were quite simple. For dessert we did the pot de crème and cookies and cream cheesecake. Both were slightly above average, really nice presentation. The meal was above average and the group on gives good value. I’d recommend.

New French place in Zombieland. We came on a Friday which happened to be a snowday where the world was ending in Vancouver. All reservations were cancelled so we had the whole place to ourselves. Sitting at the window table we were entertained by the spectrum of zombies pretending to act human. We came with a $ 40 Groupon which entitled us to two appies, two mains, and two desserts. Chef Cohen greeted us with an amuse bouche of goat cheese something. More chefs need to do this to build loyalty. We started with the tuna nicoise salad and chicken liver pâté. The salad was alright and the pâté was a crazy large portion in a jar. We had to have 3 orders of toast to finish it. I liked the sweetness that the pear confiture added. Though it was somewhat offputting to have to scoop off the thick layer of fat on the top of the jar. Not sure if this is the norm. Scallops and polenta was not bad. The mascarpone in the polenta was a good twist. The bone marrow & prosciutto risotto didn’t have the right texture nor could I taste the bone marrow. It was filling though. Desserts were chocolate mousse and pumpkin cheesecake in jars. The cheesecake was my favourite. Though the Groupon was a great deal, I don’t think I’d pay full price as I’ve had better French at the same price point. It doesn’t have some French staple dishes yet I couldn’t see any unique signature dishes. I wish the owners best of luck.

Ate here with a bunch of friends and tried almost the whole menu. One of the most consistently delicious meals I’ve had in ages. The seafood niçoise was literally perfect. So delicious. Other highlights — the beef tartar and bourguignon, chicken and greens, and porcini brulee — savoury crême brulée — I was a bit wary of the concept but holy crap was it awesome. What stood out for me the most was how everything I had was perfectly cooked — the niçoise had the most perfectly cooked just a little bit gooey egg I’ve ever seen and the texture of all of the different kinds of squid octopus scallop prawn were all not remotely rubbery and felt awesome in my mouth. Beef tartar(I know, I know, not cooked), gah, so, so so good. The bourguignon — it’s a stew, everything could be just all smashed and cooked to death and still be tasty, but it wasn’t. Oh, and something I’ve never seen before — the crab ravioli — perfectly soft, delicious fresh pasta with an egg yolk inside, and when you cut it the yolk just perfectly oozes out and adds its rich flavour to the whole thing. HOWDOYOUEVENDOTHAT? Anyway, I’ll definitely be back, now that I got around to writing this review(finally a first for me!), I am madly craving that seafood salad and beef tartar.
