Always a favourite spot of mine and without a doubt the best beef salad in the city. The meat is grilled and has a great smokiness to it just like you would expect when ordering beef salad in Thailand. The Larb is also exquisite. From time to time they make Gai Yang which is to die for.

I’ve heard and seen a lot of Bob likes Thai Food from my friends and gave me pretty high hopes for the meal last night. I wasn’t entirely disappointed but I’ll get to that. We came in as a big crowd last night so slower service was expected and not the main issue. The waitresses were extremely nice and were quite charming. We all ordered our food and were set to go. I ordered the Roast Duck Curry and a side of Coconut Rice. The curry was a lot more bamboo shoot with a side of duck(about 5 large pieces?) but the flavors were nice and aromatic. If you don’t like tomatos I’d ask them to take them out. The rice however was also not as fragrant or exciting as I anticipated it to be; you could smell only a light coconut aroma and for an extra 3 dollars for it, I wouldn’t be getting it again if I come again. I had a few sips of my friend’s thai tea latte and it tastes exactly like every other thai tea I’ve had: very smokey and decadent. If you’ve never had it before I definitely recommend trying it here. I didn’t notice it at first, but they had some pretty creative drinks and desserts up on the board by the bar(if you’re legal). If I come again I’ll definitely look at it the next time I order. All in all, the waitresses are nice, a tad slower, and the food while good contained a lot of filler vegetables. If I do get a chance to come again, I’ll probably go for the more traditional«expected» foods.

Very yummy food! I’ve had the pad thai, panang panang beef, and massaman. All so good! Pad thai is unique here because they use smoked tofu giving it a nice smokey quality. Portions are average and service usually good but can be slow and inattentive at times(took nearly 30 mins to get rice once, and which point my panang sauce was cold). But overall yummy thai food!

I tried Bob’s last weekend because I’ve only heard positive things about it. They have really good lunch prices and I love Thai food so I thought I’d give it a try. I ordered the pad Thai lunch special(but made it vegetarian). They offer either tofu or vegetables as a substitution which is really nice. It comes with a side salad and some wontons(?). The portion was really disappointing and the flavors were also a let down. I would probably not be coming back. It’s out of the way for me and the food wasn’t worth the trip.

Vancouver doesn’t do Thai food very well. But for Vancouver this place is pretty good. Skip the Pad Thai, maybe it was the bbq sauce flavor that I didn’t like not sure. Panang Curry was good. The red wine was nice.

Today was my first time trying out Bob Likes Thai Food. I’ve heard some good things about it from friends so I had high hopes coming in. I ordered my food for pick up and they told it would take 15 minutes. So I show up 15 minutes later and they tell me my food would be ready in just a minute. 10 minutes later and I still haven’t received my order. I ask them how much longer it would be, and they told me 5 minutes. At that point I was a bit annoyed. I told them to just cancel my order and I’ll go else where. Well as soon as I piped up not a minute later and I finally got my food. The food itself wasn’t terrible. If not for the crappy service they would have got 3 or 3.5 stars from me. But to me service is very important. Based on service alone I will never be back. Too bad. I really wanted to like this place.

I have been here about 4 times now. This is my go to Thai place in Vancouver. The food is amazing. I had the Panang beef this time. Such complex flavours involved in this dish. The beef was so tender and also had delicious chunks of potato in it. If you like Thai you absolutely have to come here. Make a reservation if your thinking about doing dinner tho. It’s starting to get very busy!

My first experience here would have been a 5 star review, but I had just picked up my order here for to go and I’m so upset. When I first came here everything was delicious! The green curry chicken was amazing, best curry I’ve ever had! And pretty filling for $ 10 the Tom yum soup was hot, sour and spicy! A lot of places are just plain sour. And the Thai iced tea was refreshing. When I picked up my order today I was super excited to eat it! I drove all the way from downtown just to pick it up … Then I got back to work… and I opened it the curry was piping hot, then I put it over my rice… And the rice was hard and a bit brittle … Then I touched he inside of the rice it was SOOOO cold!!! As if it was put in the fridge for so long. I was so upset. I drove all the way downtown and I couldn’t even enjoy my lunch because my rice was no good to eat. What a shame. I had to go next door and pay and extra $ 3 for rice. Note to self and everyone else… Check your order before you leave!!!

Went here for lunch with my beau in June. YUM! I only wish the dishes were of a little bit larger portion. Besides that everything was delicious and would go back again. It gets really busy here during lunch so try getting here a little earlier, or later that the usual lunch hour to get seating.

Located just on the corner of Broadway and Granville, Bob Likes Thai Food is a small joint that offers authentic Thai cuisine. It’s a colourful shop with quirky décor for ambiance. A couple of my coworkers and I came here for lunch since they have lunch specials for $ 10. All their lunch specials come with a side of green salad and wonton chip. E got the Pad Thai which featured fried rice noodles, prawns, tofu, peanuts, egg, and bean sprouts. She really enjoyed this and many of our coworkers said it’s probably the best around our area for pad thai. For myself, I got the Panang Beef and I asked for the curry to be mild. You get a bowl of coconut milk based red curry with beef, basil and bell peppers and a scoop of rice on the side. This was very flavourful and you could definitely taste the basil and coconut. Tons of sauce to smother over your rice. The beef was also very tender. Even though you ask for mild, you still get a bit of a kick which I liked. The wonton chips were literally just fried dough and was topped with some sweet chili sauce. I sort of wished there was some filling inside of it. Salad was dressed with a light sweet vinaigrette. Overall, our table was quite pleased with the food. At $ 10 a plate during lunch, it’s quite reasonable for restaurants around our area. The food is served up quick so that’s a plus since office people are usually in a hurry. Portions are decent. I finished the dish easily, so for a hungry person, this might be a bit small. Service was efficient and friendly. Pros: — Reasonable lunch prices — Decent eats Cons: — Portions are on the smaller side

Bob likes Thai food. And so do I. I like that this location closes late(10pm). Was so satisfying after my evening workout. Great flavours, home style. Will be back.

I was 10 minutes past their lunch special due to traffic… Fair enough I guess. They have no wifi and most of the dishes were seafood based with a bit of a big deal from the waitress for substitutions. Tables were sticky. Not a good experience for something that has been on my bucket list for a year.

Have been on a quest to find great Thai restaurants and decided to try this one on a whim while walking by. Friendly and fast service in a cozy environment, with reasonable prices. What more could you want? Ordered: –Duck curry –Pad Thai –Tom Ka Gai — very flavourful, and the small is more than enough for two people My only gripe would be the high sodium level of all the dishes, which is to be expected when eating out and not something I would mention except that I requested that our order be under salted. All three dishes were suuuuuuper salty, and when I mentioned it to our server she said«Oh» and walked away. Glad I tried this place nonetheless, and I would definitely come back, and request again(more emphatically I guess) that the kitchen not overseason the otherwise delicious food. $ 42 after tax + tip.

We waited over 90 minutes for a table at Vij’s on a Saturday night, only to be told our original quote of 90 minutes was now going to take an additional hour. Since we didn’t want to be eating — Indian food, no less — after 9pm when we would surely be in bed only a couple hours later, we took a stroll down the block and around the corner to Bob’s. The place was also packed, and as out-of-towners, that is how we tend to determine what restaurants are worth eating at. Bob’s is a small place, so waiting for a table to open up was a little awkward… but not as awkward as being seated in between the party of 6 plus screaming baby in the window and the party of 3 at the booth near the doorway. So awkward. We could barely move, and my partner was basically sitting in the doorway with people standing right behind him. Luckily, we were able to move to a different table with more elbow room after we ordered– we greatly appreciated the server’s flexibility here, as most places tend to get hung up on table numbers once an order is placed. We ordered the Green Curry w/Chicken and the Pad Thai(w/no tofu). When the food came, two sides of coconut rice came with it. We just assumed the rice came with our entrees, since we hadn’t asked for rice when we ordered. However, when the bill came, we were charged $ 3 for rice. Um, what?! We paid for it and didn’t complain, because the rice was BOMB, but this sort of thing is what prevents us from going back to a restaurant. No one likes surprise charges for things they didn’t order! The food was delicious and filling– we didn’t have room for dessert despite talking about wanting to order dessert while we were waiting for our food to arrive. The dessert list posted on the wall has some tempting treats! Service was friendly enough, despite the rice screw-up, and food came within a reasonable amount of time. We probably won’t return since we still need to try Vij’s on our return visit to Vancouver, but if you want pad thai, I would recommend this place!

Their pad thai was the saltiest I’ve ever had, and I see I’m not the only one on Unilocal that thinks so. The ratio of tamarind: sugar:fish sauce seemed right; they just seem to overseason it by about 200%. That means I could double the amount of noodles for that amount of sauce and it’d seem about right. This is comparing to stalls in Bangkok, Toronto, and Vancouver. It’s a strange error to make, as most restaurants here tend towards oversweetening.

As a vegan, it is hard to trust restaurants that have to modify dishes for you, and trust that the server who has not written anything down will relay the information correctly to the kitchen… At Bob Likes Thai, it’s not quite that. They do have a menu that shows the modification that can be made for allergies or dietary restrictions. The food is usually good. But somehow I always have an upset stomach after eating there, and that always makes me question if the prep was really vegan. The other annoying thing is that we always get a different answer about our vegan options depending on the server. A little disturbing… But my omni friends all seem to enjoy the menu there.

I eat pad Thai a lot, this had to be one of my favourite spots to grab it. Seasoned well, silky noodles and a great serving size. My wife has a gluten allergy and they were very sensitive to that, so they made adjustments to our food order. Amazing service. My wife got the Choo Chi Pla. Very tasty and had a nice kick to it(spice) Highly recommend this place. As far as Thai food goes in this part of the city, best place to go for service size, flavourful food, and price.

Bob’s has become a semiregular place for my husband and me in our neighborhood. The food is good, it has a nice atmosphere, and they have Fat Tug IPA on draft. We’ve probably eaten there at least 6 times. He always gets the masaman beef curry and loves it. I’ve yet to find something I crave, but the dishes are all good. The duck curry is a bit too sweet with too much skin for me to love it, and I prefer the Pad Thai at nearby Jitlada. However, it was the Fish & Chips I tried last night that prompted me to write the review. It was amazing! So light and flavorful, nothing like traditional fish and chips. The rice balls were spicy and sauced with a fishsauce-heavy flavor that I liked. The fish was just delicious. I’m glad Bob moved into the South Granville neighborhood. We’ll keep going back for a reliably good casual dinner with fresh beer and food in a cozy modern space.

Mary W, Alex T and I came here before seeing a play on Granville Island — the location is perfect and I was mad craving Thai food: score! We arrived early and easily found a table — even when we left around 7 it wasn’t crazy busy. Our server was attentive and speedy bringing us everything we asked for. We ordered spring rolls to start, which came as two rolls cut in half — this was a little awkward to share between three but the flavours were really good. Then we shared a large tom ka gai soup, a red curry with fish, and chicken and green beans with red curry paste. The soup was well balanced — salty, a little spicy, with that good hint of fish sauce. There were good chunks of tender chicken, flavourful mushrooms, and fresh cilantro. The chicken and green beans was salty and juicy and the red curry paste was a light sauce that flavoured the dish beautifully and soaked the rice with tastiness! The fish curry was unusual in that the sauce was very thick and not as soupy as I usually like it but very flavourful. The fish was lightly battered and in whole pieces rather than little chunks, and the gravy was rich to complement the simple flavour of the fish. I still enjoyed the curry but I do prefer it a bit less thick! We shared a pitcher of Fat Tug(so goooood) although I felt it was quite expensive for what we got. The tiny glasses that came with it were super cute and the pitcher was very pretty! We had a great experience at Bob’s, the food was very well done and the service was great. The décor is cute, and the atmosphere is very fun.

We didn’t feel welcomed. The two times I went there the staff seemed indifferent and cold. Me and my friend were kicked out in the middle of the conversation after 1,5 hbecause the«table was needed«even though there was lots of room in the front. It is very sad since the place seems quite charming at first and the food is good.

Randomly ended up going to this restaurant and it was such a pleasant surprise. The flavours were very authentic and delicious, which I actually didn’t expect as I thought it would be a westernized thai restaurant based on its name. The spring rolls were some of the best I’ve had ever had. They were crispy and light and came with a nice side sauce. I loved the green curry as it just had the right balance of richness and taste. The service is a little slow and the servers are not very attentive, it took us an extra 10 minutes to get someones attention to get more rice and the price is expensive considering the size of the portions. Still very glad I discovered this place, will be returning again when I get cravings for thai food!
