My friend had suggested this place because she said she normally doesn’t trust people with her hair and these gals she totally trusts! Being new in the city and wanting to get my hair cut shorter than I have ever cut before I decided I needed a place that I could just trust and believe in so I went to them.
My friend suggested to bring a picture of what I wanted and brought one on my phone. I dropped in on a Wednesday afternoon around 3 without an appointment and they ushered me in a friendly manner. Although they didn’t speak perfect English, I was friendly with them so they were friendly back, so my hair dresser became really chatty with me.
Now I had black hair down to boob level with random blondish streaks and I wanted to cut it short in to a bob like Victoria Beckham’s style and dye it blue. I showed her the picture of the picture I wanted and she made it look good on my head! I thought the hardest part would be matching up my previous blonde streaks with the new ones, but she was super skillful and got everything the same colour of blonde.
So for cut, wash, shampoo, cut, dye and style my total rounded up to $ 90! I couldn’t believe how cheap it was compared to other salons. I absolutely loved it when she was done and I would definitely recommend to bring a picture of a hairstyle and you’ll get exactly what you want!

I used to be very low maintenance with my hair. I used to just cut it myself and I never dyed my hair. But one day I decided to change it. My friend likes to change her hair often and she recommended this place so I gave it a shot. Mai, the owner was great! She went beyond my expectations. I wanted it to be brown with subtle blonde highlights. Mai did an amazing job. It took about 2 and a half hours Dying my hair and adding highlights with a hair cut totally cost me 100 but I also tipped. I went a second time and there was another woman, I don’t know her name but only her and Mai do hair at this salon. I needed to get my roots touched up and she ended up making the roots lighter than the rest of my hair. It ended up with an orangey tone. It took 3 hours and this time it came up to 110. I went back a third time wanting to dye my hair a bit lighter and to get rid of my highlights but instead my hair turned even more orange toned and with all the highlights still there. This time also wasn’t with Mai. It took around 4 hours even though there wasn’t really other people there. It cost 120. The service at Belle is okay. Its a typical Asian salon, where they don’t really talk to you and just speak to each other in their own language. Its not great service but its also not terrible service. I stopped coming here because after the first time, my hair was never done according to how I wanted it and since it isn’t that professional you can’t really complain and even if you do, they won’t do anything about it. But if you really do want to come here definitely get Mai to do your hair. Call ahead of time to see when she is there because she’s not always there.

Usually «you get what you pay for» is a reliable mantra. But everyone once in awhile, you stumble upon a place that gives you more than what you paid for. Much more. This is one of those places.
I’ve posted the price list for this salon. $ 10 and up for a cut. I paid $ 15 and my hair was washed (but not shampoeed) afterwards to clear all the hair leftover in my head (before they come down my shirt). I was very happy with my cut (which I describe further below), and at these prices, I easily can go and get it cut more often so I always look neat and clean.
This hair salon run by Vietnamese ladies. But the clientele is multicultural, with a remarkable age range from young boys to punky looking teenagers getting designs carved into the back of their heads, to older men and women. It is often busy, which is a good sign. However, you aren’t waiting very long, because the people here work with a cool efficiency, especially with men’s cuts.
The owner’s name is Ms. Mai. I can’t speak to the quality of cut from the other employees, but Mrs. Mai is a pro. She knew exactly what needed to be done, identifying the nature of my hair, and cut it at the perfect length, basically as short as it can get before it uncontrollably spikes (curse my hair!). Looks good from the get go, so no need to hide my head in a hat for a week.
My mom and sister are loyal customers of Ms. Mai as well and they were the ones who convinced me that I didn’t have to go to a nice expensive salon to get a great cut. They were right.
