I went to this place for a lunch on a Sunday afternoon. This place used to be Tropika and there was not much renovation changes since then. I was seated quickly and I ordered the chicken curry with ginger rice. I was a little disappointed when my lunch was served within 5 minutes after I ordered and that means it was not cooked as per order. The chicken curry and potato tastes good but the dish itself was luke warm. As for the ginger rice, the rice was cooked perfectly but there was no ginger taste at all. Overall, the dish was typical and any Asian cafes in Vancouver could served the same quality and the chef was lacking enthusiasm to make the dish unique to the restaurant. I hope they changed their style soon or it soon would be forgotten on Robson street

Yay, Tropika… ahem Belachan is back! Apparently, different owners but same staff. Not sure about the kitchen though. Menu is pretty much the same as Tropika with a few additions. Price seems about the same. No real visible differences except new signage and maybe plates/bowls. Ordered the Singapore Laksa. Food taste and quality were good — no noticeable difference from before. Portion size seemed bigger though. Service was good. Water filled up often. Pricing is good at $ 11-$ 12 after taxes and tips. Definitely happy this place is back.
