As much as I like the nick nacks at this antique shop, the items are extremely over-priced, not a place I would go to on a regular basis.

Huge selection of items that must be a decorators dream. Took my mom since she loves antiques. This isn’t the price range we are looking for but she found a FireKing green glass bowl for only $ 20 and she had to have it. The owners were helpful and nice. If we’re ever in Vancouver again, we’ll have to stop by.

I really want to give this place 5 stars, because I love what they carry, the store reminds me of the fantastic Pikes Market Antique store in Seattle(which I love). My only qualm is that they are ridiculously over priced. In fact every time I come in here, I see the same things. Do they sell anything? I mean they obviously do otherwise they wouldn’t be there anymore. I feel with the amount of young people(hipsters) that are in the area, let’s get some things that we can afford! I want to spend my money here!

The place was how anybody would expect an antique shop would be, slightly weird smelling but full of old stuff. Upon looking around I had a mix of reactions that ranged from«Damn, that costs too much» and«Holy MOLY that is cheap». So I guess it’s a mixed bag if there’s a specific thing you are looking for. Will come back here again.

Cute shop to buy not just antiques but unique gifts, a blast from the past… lots of vintage stuff, ornaments, toys, etc. and decorative home pieces & furniture on the left side. Doesn’t look like much from the outside but there’s plenty of stuff to look thru, you will end up staying here longer than expected. just be careful walking in between these narrow aisles. free parking all around.

They have a coveted, albeit small, collection of character tin toys which is only available to view with an employee who’ll unlock the door where they’re kept. If you luck out and find the owner in, she can educate you on their history, etc. Great resource.

I’ve walked by here a few times, however, they’ve been closed whenever I have been in the hood and the rain has discouraged me from browsing the block. Thankfully it was sunny and I had some time to kill. I wasn’t able to stay as long as I would’ve liked to have as I was politely requested to hold my back pack due to the narrow isles which is understandable. At least they weren’t being jerks about it like other stores. I had my other hands full of fragile things, therefore, after 10 minutes whether I wanted to or not I had to leave due to the back pack situation. What I did see was a museum of cool treasures and toys that took me back and some allowed my imagination to go wild as to what certain eras were like through the toys that were played. Show up solo so that you’re not responsible for how their feeling and time. You will be in here for hours. As soon as I walked in they had their antique Easter items out front.

Bakers Dozen Antiques comprises a collection of items which form an incoherent whole. Essentially there are enough quirky bits and bobs for everyone to enjoy. Personally I can wander around in here for hours. So I try to show up solo as to not piss off my fellow shopping side kicks. This is a must stop shop for magical Christmas items. I also noticed that they have a great selection of new and vintage Christmas ornaments for the collector in all of us, but mostly just for me. Go and enjoy. Say hi to the fox king.

More of a ‘ye olde curiosity shop’ than a typical antiques store, Bakers Dozen makes a huge effort to carry a wide variety of retro and rare items. I’ve taken out-of-towners here several times and think it is a must-do when strolling down Main Street(along with Portland Craft and Front & Co). Unlike a few reviewers, I find the staff here to be relatively unhelpful but — at the same time — one cannot expect them to provide detailed information about every item in this chock-a-block shop. With my background in First Nations art, I was especially happy to see an entire display case dedicated to old and quirky(alas, not many collectible) Native artifacts. This is also a great store for unique cards and gift items!

Haiku Review! My kind of antiques — Curios, ephemera, so much history. Not much furniture but thousands of small pieces Each has a story The lady working Could win big on Jeopardy. What doesn’t she know? Like a museum, But you can buy the pieces! What a collection!

Great shop, great selection and great people working there! Firstly, thanks to my fellow Unilocalers for turning me onto to this place. As with every town I go to, I put in my favorite key search word«oddities» and this store popped right up! We headed over to be pleasantly greeted by wonderful window displays complete with a taxidermied rabbit driving a vintage push car! Yes, please — may I purchase? There were so many things to look at and marvel over. If I had more time plus more room in my luggage, I would’ve bought the whole damn shop! There is also a room with the cream of the crop vintage pieces that if you are nice, they will let you go into. Some items are display only, much to my dismay, but no worries as there are still thousands of items to choose from such as Freemason & Oddfellows collectibles, vintage medical ephemera, statuaries, vintage animal collectibles, original victorian era photos, a Mr Peanut costume, sideshow memorabilia — oh my list could go on and on… Very nice owner and the employee with the rad mustachio was friendly and informative. I will definitely go back and ship my purchases back to LA!!!

ahh memories. perhaps absence does make the heart grow fonder. after a lengthy stay away from ‘Bright Lights, Big City’, my first stop ashore was at my perenial favorite«A Baker’s Dozen» Antiques on the Main St row. More a center of curios and whimsy then antiquities, there is always something to smile about, comment upon or give pause. In the Vancouver scene, this was the place to find a most unique piece for home décor or an über cool house warming gift . Most items are carefully arranged under glass as propinquity allows, and therein lies the first caveat: under glass means the offerings are pretty dear in price. The store over time seems to have devolved into zones of astethic: curio cabinet display to toy museam, then disheveled junk room for project items to a semi-private atilier where afore mentioned ‘junk’ becomes interesting but optimistically prices ‘art’. Zones in care and quality but NOT priced accordingly. I moved through the store from being charmed to annoyed, then outright indignant. I’ll credit the purveyors with a good eye and esthetic but demerit for a very poor sense of value. This store isn t ‘San Francisco chic’ so why the SF pricing. and so in closing what once was the penultimate ‘antiquing’ in Vancouver has now faded as the shop has also faded to some level of desuetude. advice: go to ‘Stepback’ on Broadway. retro cool with retro pricing.

Freaking incredible collection of old sh*t, and it only gets better as you move through the three store fronts. Name it: paintings, trinkets, watches, old photos, gadgets, furniture, apothecaries, memorabilia, glass, bags, signs, lots of taxidermied animals, so much more. It’s true that I can’t afford much of any of it, but it is astounding to look at. Just when my partner was dragging me out, an employee(a fantastic gentleman with a fantastic moustache), pulled us to the back to browse their collection of nineteenth and early twentieth century paper items and image prints. The back room is the best: ask to be let in if it’s locked. It’s part museum, part store, with random pieces and vignettes made of their less saleable items. I’ve been into curiosities stores around the world that wanted to be this cool, but Bakers Dozen has outdone them all.

Although the OCD neat freak in me SOOO wants to start organizing this place. I know I know. it the whole eclectic… antique… search for the hidden gem concept. but it really makes me anxious… Bakers Dozen sells a mix of antique pieces as well as new fun home décor items. trinkets…gadgets.and whatzits… I love the tin robots. so cool.fun gifts for that person in your life that loves interesting stuff for there home. I started a collection for my partner… My favorite find was vintage Christmas ornaments still in the original box. that my Grandma used to have. it reminded me of being 5 years old and helping her decorate the tree with too much tinsel… it was a warm fuzzy Christmas moment… But seriously… they need to do something about the back part of the second room… just go and you’ll understand. you may find me there organizing and cleaning…

What a cool little place this is! Bakers Dozen Antiques on Main Street is chock full of old-school goodness — you may want to leave your huge Louis Vuitton at home, in fear you may knock some priceless knick knack over! Besides tons of antique treasures, I found a selection of cool contemporary giftware at Bakers Dozen, too, as well as a pack of vintage Vancouver City postcards for just $ 10. Noël note: Be sure to check the vintage Christmas ornaments out. They’ll have you singing Joy to the World!

Stepping into this antique shop is like finding yourself at a carnival of curiousities. Not only do they carry a range of antique furniture and furnishings, this store also has an eclectic array of items ranging from antique toys to antique leather pilot hats(you know, the kind Amelia Earhart wore). What you’ll find here is almost certainly unpredictable, and much of it is pricey, but you are also likely to stumble upon a whacky something for a special someone who has been needing an old fashioned doll or an antique yo-yo for example. If you are a fan of the quirky and the eccentric, this is a great place to make a stop.
