I didn’t have Canadian dollars with me so I told the cashier that I would pay with U.S. dollars. Obviously, there is a conversion factor. It was supposed to be $ 8.40 cnd. I gave her $ 10 usd but she only gave me back $ 1.60 cnd which was completely wrong. I told her to that there has to be more but I didn’t bother to do the math for her. She told me that she didn’t know the conversion and refused to give me my money back. Since it wasn’t much of a difference, I ignored it but they should definitely fix this issue.

Absolutely disgusting and I am no Gordon Ramsay. I ordered the teen burger with onion rings because I wanted a quick and cheap lunch that would maybe conjure up some childhood nostalgia. Teen burger — I took out the bacon, but could still taste extreme saltiness. The bun was perfect — crisp on outside and soft on the inside. The excessive salt, butter and mayo made me cringe. It wasn’t as bad as the onion rings though. Onion Rings — my gaWd. Super dry and thick fried dough encases the stringy onions. I could see the crusted seasoning on each ring. I tried to eat it all, but might as well have run my mouth along the Bonneville Salt Flats. To better this simply: lighten up the batter, lay off the salt and serve them fresh. Not recommended.

Where to start. I know this is a typical mall fast food chain that has been in the industry many, many years. You’d think that running an establishment like this means you’ve got the experience in dealing with customers when you’ve done something wrong and acknowledge it in an appropriate manner. I regret to say that this was not the case here. We had ordered a couple items between my mom and I because we were getting ready to see a movie down the road. One of the things that I appreciate about a&w is that they make ordering two burgers economical when you don’t care for fries. So I ordered two burgers and a large drink. My mom ordered herself a burger and a small drink. We went over the order with the person and I asked for no onions. Shouldn’t be a factor in the overall order — right? After waiting on the side of the tills with several people we received our order. It wasn’t hard to see that we were missing my moms drink so we inquires about the missing drink. You’d hope that they’d say that it was an accident or that they must have missed it when we ordered. Nope! They proceeded to deny that we ordered it and went on(during an extremely busy time) to print off the receipt to prove that we had never ordered it. Thanks, folks. Well my mom was now in a huff so she simply said that she wanted one. They said that we would have to pay for it over at the tills so they could ring it in. Ya right. We upped and left there with a simply put«don’t bother». Lucky for us, the drink that we did get was large enough for the two of us to share and make it to the movie. So to all you restaurant franchises out there, I just want to remind you that just because you have a large name behind you and I’m likely to go back to another location it doesn’t mean I have to come back to yours.

Need a quick snack? The Mama Burger’s only $ 1.50. Perfect for the low sugar dip in the afternoon.

One of my favourite places to eat inside Pacific Centre. The best deal is the $ 1.50 Mama Burger. Order 2 of those and you’re set. Probably the cheapest lunch you can get downtown during business hours, other than McValue. Service is quick. I asked for an ice water and they gave it to me in this 8oz child-sized cup. Maybe they heard me wrong.

*Burger Quest* I like to think of A&W like a MacDonald’s burger through beer goggles. When you are hungry it looks so damn good that you have to have it and then in the light of day you feel dirty and ashamed. Over cooked pattie with little flavour, wilted lettuce and standard bun. Overall only a small step up from MacDonald’s. The fries however were really good. Crispy and full of flavour and I would go back for these alone. Their spiel about why they don’t put ice in their drinks bugs me as well. It is root beer and having some water melt into your drink is really not that big a deal. Again it is root beer and not a Chateauneuf Du Pape.
