7-Eleven

I’ve been to this and the other nearby location a few times before a show to get some potato wedges before a late night club show with my best friend. Anything at 1:00 am tastes good.

This 7-​Eleven is on the main stretch of Denman in the West End across from Denman Place Mall. A very convenient location as I was staying at the Coast across the street. It is very much what I expect a convenience store to be.
I suppose getting a Slurpee or a late night snack here is worth venturing in for. Though if you are looking for snacks at a respectable time of day, you are probably better visiting the No Frills across the street or one of the Safeway stores a couple blocks away.
For tourists visiting Vancouver, you can buy TransLink day passes here. There is also a Scotiabank ATM in store. While you can find ATMs everywhere, the ones in 7-​Eleven stores are special since they take Allpoint cards which is a surcharge free network. Hence, I was able to withdraw money without having to pay an additional ATM surcharge. These services are basically the reason why this 7-​Elven is a-​ok in my book.

I was in the store this morning. For nothing more than some sour candy and a breakfast taqutio. The cashier was super friendly and made small talk easily. When I got home I realized I left my cell phone there. I ran back and she could see the panic in my face and said «Did you leave you cell phone here?» She had it tucked away, some KIND-​HEARTED STRANGER TURNED IN MY PHONE! OH THANK YOU TO THE GODS… for the safe return of my cellular phone

Homeless George Clooney lives in front of this store. My friend brings him waffles, I bring smiles… but he’s elusive, so you may *not* see him.
For the blindingly bright lights that make me feel awkward, like I am going to steal something…
…and all the ciggies that one needs to turn their lungs black
…and all the twizzlers and mars accompanying the munchies
…and the shitty coffee to start my day, er, start my night
…and it being impossibly OCD clean
…and the fact that my friend left his keys and the woman didn’t steal ‘em
…and because the sketchy characters make my day
…it gets a 4 from me
Come on, you like feeling like a criminal sometimes. ;)
