I went to this restaurant yesterday with a friend for brunch. The brunch was very nice and we enjoyed every bit. We shared the pâté and each ordered the smoked salmon benedict. I requested my poached eggs SOFT but they were cooked medium. Tasted very good anyway. The patio was lovely, and there was live music across the street for the Kerrisdale festival that was going on. Everything was fantastic until my friend told the waiter we had a Groupon. I corrected her and said it wasn’t a Groupon, but it was a voucher… All of a sudden, the waiter stiffened up and said very rudely, «If you’ve got an NCrowd voucher, we’re no longer accepting those. You’ll have to contact them for a refund, but we won’t be honoring those anymore.» Then he walked away. My friend and I were stunned. I understand the merchant may have had issues with this company, and that sucks. Sucks for me as well, as I was not aware of any issues. The restaurant should make a note of this on their website or something. Or the waiter could’ve mentioned it at the beginning of the meal. I did tell him this when he brought the bill, and said he would mention it to the owner. The food was great(hence the 3 stars), but I took off one star for the waiter’s rude behavior. He could’ve been much more professional and/or nice about it. It’s not MY fault the deal company didn’t honor their agreement, and I didn’t appreciate the way he spoke to me. Talk about a sour ending to a nice meal. Very disappointing.

Had lunch here today. I was very pleasantly surprised! Very cozy little spot — can’t wait for a winter’s chilly night to have a dinner there. My friend ordered the crab cakes and loved them(she’s very choosy) and I had the chicken salad, replete with a well-cooked(moist) chicken breast sliced into lovely pieces surrounding a spinach, tomato and almond salad with a slightly creamy vinaigrette dressing. Both items were appetizers and well-priced. Service was excellent(loved getting drinks of water with a squeeze of lemon without asking!). I will be back for both lunch and dinner. Kerrisdale is somewhat devoid of really good restaurants and this is a welcome addition to their neighbourhood.

$ 13 a pop for their smoke salmon pouched egg, we had a social shopper coupon, so we got an even better discount. Here’s how it all went down: — Pouched egg: we both ordered soft, maybe it was just a hard day, but they weren’t softies, barely ran, which was a little unfortunate — Croissant: it is a buttery genius to pair the croissant with the hollandaise and egg; all that butter and fat is yummy in my tummy — Potatos: it was 50⁄50 between burnt and crispy, go test your luck Cheesecake is very light and fluffy — more Japanese style than New York. Service: great. It seems family run, although we’re not sure. They are friendly, and it feels like a chill place for a lazy Sunday brunch. If it weren’t for the potato & egg disappointment, I would definitely come back again.

We came here on a Saturday for brunch. And honestly it was delightful. Managed to use a social shopper coupon we purchased and had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict as my entrée and we shared the Tall Napoleon for dessert. The eggs Benedict was very well done, layered on top of toasted croissant with hollandaise sauce of right consistency and flavor. The overall dining experience was good. Very glad we got to try out this restaurant that neighborhood.

We went to 41 West with SocialShopper coupons. At $ 19 for two main course dishes, two drinks and one dessert, it seemed like a great way to try a new restaurant. One of the things that I first noticed was that they had patio seating! Unfortunately, there’s some construction going on nearby, so we chose to sit indoors. Inside, it is a small and cosy restaurant, with one chef, and one server, which may make service a tad slow during a crowded hour, but we had absolutely no problems — the server would keep checking on our meal, asking if everything was«delightful»! I had done my research earlier, and had found out that people on Unilocal recommended their seafood dishes, so we ordered the ruby trout and the prawn and seafood linguine. Both were pretty well-made, and we really liked them — and that is saying something, since I generally don’t like seafood! The linguine came with mussels, something I had never tried before, but enjoyed. For our dessert, we went for the chocolate coffee mousse — very rich, creamy, and chocolatey. Overall, great place! I thoroughly enjoyed the lunch. (Joint review by me and my dear friend who often accompanies me to food places)

This is our first time eating at 41West using the Social Shopper coupon for $ 19 lunch for 2 which includes 2 entrees, 2 non-alcoholic drinks like pop or juice or coffee/tea, and 1 dessert to share. We arrived at 11:50am and there was no one but the hostess said to use the Social Shopper coupon, reservations need to be made. She said it twice and then said luckily her boss isn’t present otherwise he will get mad. Are you kidding me?! The place is dead empty as we were the only ones! What is very dishonest about 41West is that no where on the Social Shopper coupon does it say the 4oz tenderloin at $ 16 is NOT included. The hostess/waitress said it is not printed but her boss is charging $ 4 extra for the steak! I didn’t want to argue with her because I wasn’t going to have the steak but this practice is not honest because it was NOT printed anywhere on the coupon! We had the trout which was alright but the side potatoes were good along with some green beans and carrots which were both al dente. The seafood fettucine is not homemade pasta but the cream sauce was very light. The pasta came with 2 large prawns – perfectly cooked and 2 mussels which were very fresh and cubes of smoked white fish of some sort which were quite tasty. For the one dessert, we had the napoleon and again it was just okay. It definitely was homemade but it was just average. Overall, i would only return for lunch when using a Social Shopper coupon for $ 19; but at full price, definitely not! Management should really NOT be charging the $ 4 extra for the steak if it isn’t printed on the coupon as it is very deceiving.

I purchased a Social Shopper voucher for $ 39.00 for two, and we decided to order additional appetizers off the menu. The seafood gumbo is highly recommended, which had a rich seafood flavour and a good amount of ingredients. The mussels, scallop and fish were all well-executed and not overcooked. There was also a bit of spiciness in the gumbo which contributed to more flavour. We also ordered their signature shrimp and crab cakes which I found only average and nothing special. The filling was loose and fluffy, and the exterior exhibited a crispy crunch. $ 15.00 for 3 medium cakes is okay, I guess. Another appetizer we enjoyed are the mussels, which is another recommended dish. The juicy mussels are just cooked and not dry one bit. The cream sauce is also fairly tasty. As for the entrees, the beef tenderloin was overcooked and tasted dry. I have never had a dry or stringy tenderloin before, but there is a first time for everything. There was also a side of green peppercorn sauce which had a light beefy flavour, it was not bad or too strong. Another entrée was the short ribs. One of the pieces tasted fork tender, but the other piece was dry and stringy. Not sure why the inconsistency? There was also a good ginger and star anise au jus, and the flavour was light but rich. For dessert, we had the caramel cheesecake. The cheesecake is very dry and nothing special, but the caramel was the money. Overall, I recommend the seafood dishes at the restaurant rather than the meat. Asides from the food, the restaurant is cozy and quaint, but the service is lacking. Our server did not ask how the dishes were in-between and only inquired about the entrees after clearing the plates. He also decided to leave the bread knife on the table throughout our three courses which did bug me a bit because I like having a clear and comfortable table setting. But regardless, he was very courteous and polite when he dropped by the table.

Came from a Social Shopper(I think?) promotion and was blown away. I consider myself a «foodie» and this is top notch. Will certainly go back again.

Had a really good experience here the other day. I definitely recommend getting the voucher from Social Shopper — it makes a huge difference and it is really worth it! The food was great and we enjoyed our 3 course meal.

I bought a voucher from Social Shopper for $ 39. We hadn’t been to 41 West before so thought this would be a perfect opportunity to try it out. While we weren’t disappointed, 41 West wouldn’t be our go-to either. The food is of a generally high standard. A tad too much salt for my taste buds. Everything was prepared fresh(we could see the chefs working in the kitchen). My bug bear would be for the service. It wasn’t poor at all but I believe that when cutlery is changed, the replacement/additional cutlery should be placed correctly. That water should be filled etc Other than that, the one gentleman who waited in practically the whole restaurant, inside and out, managed pretty well. For our meal, we tried the crab cakes and added the gumbo. The gumbo was spicier than expected, but it had a great selection of seafood. Next, for our mains, we chose duck and the scallop dish. Presentation was good, the duck and the scallops were cooked well and stood out for me. The accompanying food: quinoa, sauce were a let down for me. My guest loved it though. The fresh veggies were great. I would recommend this place to try. No harm in discovering something new.

it is a romantic place for couple, serving french fine dinning. Although space a bit compact, but there is good spot on the patio. Pan roasted ruby trout go with lemon pink peppercorn sauce matching to my taste bud. It is also fabulous on the grill sockeye salmon .The green bean soup is smoothly, well healthy. After the main dish just cannot stop ourselves order the dessert of crème caramel and also tall Napoleon. Well, the price is above average, but definitely i will be back again, because it is worth to pay

My friends and I came here based on a recommendation and we weren’t disappointed. The food was very well prepared and the flavours were spot on. The Dungeons Crab Cakes as an appetizer, were a perfect compliment to the Halibut and veggies that I had as a main course. Although I was stuffed after the first two courses, when the dessert menu came out I couldn’t pass up on the cheese cake and wasn’t disappointed. The very large patio provided the perfect atmosphere and the server added to the overall pleasurable experience. I will definitely be back!

Came here on a Saturday evening and sat on the patio with a couple friends. The patio is spacious and welcoming. With a smoke duck salad as an appetizer and a pan seared scallops as a main course, my tummy was satisfied. The duck salad was flavourful but the plum sauce portion could be reduced. I was happy with the execution of scallops. They were tender and fresh. The asparagus was slightly overcooked. After the 2nd course, I still managed to savour an apple crumble pie with vanilla ice cream and some fresh berries, the classic dessert that would never let me down. The service was great as the server attentively topped my glass with wine. Yes! Who doesn’t love that. A cute place to dine in Kerrisdale.

This is another restaurant in a round of rotating restaurant at this location. On a sunny day in Kerrisdale, the patio is a nice place to relax and have lunch. Portion size is average. Prices a little high. Hard to pay more dollars as there are so many more established places with in 10 minutes drive.
