Zen Spa

This place is a disgrace to spas. Booked a couples massage for our anniversary, there was nothing romantic about it, let alone relaxing, for a spa this has been very stressful. To start we had horrible service when we arrived, being told to change without much instruction, the lockers didn’t have keys with them and we were left alone for over 15 mins and didn’t know where to go. Went out in robe to the reception area calling out «hello? Help?» Walking around with zero service until the rmt who was setting up down the hall heard us and got the receptionist out of her office. After that very unwelcoming experience to start, the massages were good enough to leave with tip. Unfortunately my girlfriend told me she was chilly during most of it, I found out I got a heated blanket and she didn’t. A few weeks later we «apparently» made an appointment (which we did not make) and got charged for not showing up. When we called back the manager did not seem apologetic at all in fact she keep defending the fact that we did make this point meant and wasn’t going to give us a refund. It took a while trying to communicate but she then offered is a partial refund still charging us $ 45 and hung up on us… Just don’t go to this spa. Please.

Kathy and I have been to this spa numerous times since 2010. They are now on the third owner and the place is looking better than ever. We had a massage and sea salt body scrub which was great today. Devon is an excellent therapist. Try this place if you are looking for a Luxury spa at a reasonable price.

Wow. So much to say about this place and not in a good way. So the spa is located inside the hotel. Easy to find and right off the highway. You have to park in the paid parking but the spa will give you a validated ticket so you will not get charged. The ambiance and entrance of the spa is great. The space is large and comfortable. The room was also spacious and well laid out but it was cold. I asked about the heating which I was told could not be adjusted. I was offered an extra towel but I remained cold the entire service. Strange enough I noticed an electric fire place but it was never turned on. The bed was slightly uncomfortable as it was hard and the face spot was a bit awkward as well for me. I had a combination relaxation and hot stone massage from an Esthetician named Ruby. She seemed very young and as we progressed through the 1-​hr massage, I could tell she was quite inexperienced. The oil she used was cold, I always recommend a spa to warm the oil since guests are completely naked and vulnerable. Her pressure techniques were strange and a bit unpredictable in a bad way. I didn’t feel like I could relax during the service. I also felt like there was no practiced method or organization to the massage. The massage started with the back then legs (as it should be) but quickly moved to the arms and then the décolletage. The entire massage felt more like running than a massage even though I did ask for the pressure to be adjusted twice but it was never quite right. In addition she was using too much oil. I felt like a fire hazard with the amount that was used. And When I flipped over to my back and expected the 2^nd half of the massage, the legs were not massaged and my arms inly rubbed for 5 mins. She spent the time running my neck and some strange head massage that was not relaxing at all. Once she finished I checked my timer and she finished 15 mins early so really it was only a 45 min massage. Unfortunately I don’t think I will be back. The spa is out of my way and it did not meet my standards. If the spa was worth it, I would drive out of my way but it was not. They get 2 stars; 1 because the ambiance and overall design of the spa is great, the other star is for a cute little shop (unrelated) located in the hotel adjacent from the spa that has all kinds of stuff to look at. I bought a brooch, which I would not have if I had not gone to the spa. Oh well. I think I will stick to RMT massages, they are consistent and they know the techniques that work best and help the client to feel relaxed after 1 hour of service.
