So I kept going to YMT due to the fact that they have an online booking system and so many RMTs it’s basically really easy to get an appointment(even last minute). They’ve managed to make me add a star to my review after going there a handful of times. I agree that it’s a matter of finding the right therapist for you, and once you have they’re going to do a good job. It probably also helps to build up some patient history. They’re helpful with sports injuries and did a great job on my legs after I took up running. Now, they will never be five stars for me because they NEVER seem to start on time, but they always end RIGHT on schedule. So basically I always end up paying for longer than I’m given, which really bugs me(which really was the basis of my original 3 star review, much less the fact that it’s no frills).

I’m a fan of YMT because they always have an opening. The space is more medical than spectacle, but considering you spend most of your time face down, does it really matter? They do have relaxing music, which is the bare minimum I need for a massage. It’s always awkward when it’s silent. At least for me. YMT is the mother of all ships when it comes to therapists. There are so many and they are all different. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. It’s just a matter of finding one that suits you. It took me five tries, but I eventually found two that I like. One for the days when an old injury acts up or I kink my neck, and one for those days I just want to feel like mellow like jello. The bottom line: You’re looking for for therapy, not frivolity. One hour with one of YMT’s RMTs will set you back $ 95WITH tax. And of course, if you have insurance benefits, like me, then it’s kind of free.

Why does this place only have a couple visible reviews?(Most are under the filtered review section) I came here at the recommendation of a friend on a very hot summer day. My shoulders were aching from all the carrying of heavy bags to and from the theatre and travelling. My lower back and legs were sore from performing for 2 weeks. I needed a massage! Its a little difficult to find and thank goodness for Unilocal!I got the address and found this little gem. I was able to get a walk-in appointment for a 45 minute massage. The therapist really knew where all the tight and sore spots were and he found spots that were tight that I didn’t even know were tight! I’m pretty picky when it comes to massage and have had plenty of good and bad massages. This is a pretty good place to go! The receptionist was also very helpful and told me of spots to check out in Toronto that is off the beaten tourist trap destination guide book.

The person that gave YMT three stars obviously misunderstood the clinic. This isn’t a place you go to for a frivolous massage you’d get at the Four Seasons spa; its for people who need pain relief from injuries or discomfort. I had sprained my lat at the gym and was prescribed anti-inflammatory medication by my doctor. By the third week I was still experiencing pain and stiffness, needless to say I was fed up. I decided to go to a sports injury therapist and found Matvey Kipershtein at YMT. After one session with him I was free of my pain. The next day I no longer had the pain or stiffness and within a couple days I was back at the gym. Matvey is skilled, knowledgeable and honest. He knows his stuff and will answer any questions you have. There was never any pressure for follow up appointments and during my appointment there was never any feelings of a time constraint(as stated in the three star review).
