Fun, friendly and socially responsible staff. They would have got five stars but I think their late hours are not great for my liver. Take that how you will.

I stopped in to Wine Rack during my time in Toronto and had a quick tasting of Pinot Grigio and a mango cider box at the counter. This is another one of those stores I wish I could transplant to my area. It was just so cozy, the staff member who assisted was extremely friendly, and they had a nice selection of local wines — as well as some international options. I love that. By the time I left, I had decided to purchase a pack of ciders… which probably wasn’t smart since I was walking several blocks back to my hotel and it was heavy. But that was good stuff! And local! If I’m ever in Toronto again in the future, I’ll most definitely make a return trip to one of these Wine Rack locations.

They’re super friendly here and don’t have any attitude. The location is great, the hours are unbeatable. They have a small fridge, but one of everything you want chilled is probably in there. The place is a bit small and they have a lot of Ontario stuff, but… we’re in Ontario… of course they have lots of Ontario stuff. Oh and they almost always have free tastings, are well staffed, energetic and they’re knowledgable about the products.

Well, for one, they were open until 11 on a Tues night, which was great! I did find a great Shiraz-Cab that I would never have purchased otherwise. And the staff was really friendly and jovial. I just didn’t like that I was limited to Ontario wines, but I suppose it got me out of my shell a bit, and I ended up with a good bottle at a good price at a semi-late hour.

Am I an alcoholic if the staff here all recognize me and remind me of moments I’d like to forget? No way. It’s just the awesome sense of community that comes with the Church-Wellesley Village! I love this little wine rack. They’re open till 11! I stop by here right before hopping over to my friend who lives right across for some delicious wines so I can have a delicious and classy wine tasting party aka let’s get drunk and go out to the village! The staff here are really great and super nice! They always say hello whenever I walk in :) I’ve been coming here for a while and will keep coming back here almost every weekend :)

The staff during the morning at Wellesley and church are amazing and knowledgeable about every product in the store. Finding a wine for a gift or just for yourself is never a challenge for the day staff at this store. If your having a special dinner and don’t know what to serve, just ask Wilson during the day, his knowledge about food and wine won’t disappoint you

Super selection, fun staff, great prices… but just remember it’s only really Ontario wines… if you’re looking for a vintage or something from Italy, you will have to hoof it to the LCBO on Yonge. The hours are great… open much later then the LCBO and the staff, even at 10pm are wiling to help you pick out that perfect wine. The best part — they even sell openers — I found out when I left for a party without one.

You are more likely to see a purple dragon than you are to find a LCBO open downtown past 10pm! I was strolling down the street at Wellesley and Yonge and remembered that the Wine Rack up the street was still open. You see I was invited to a housewarming and at the last minute was able to attend. Despite the last minute change, I didn’t want to show up with: a) no gift for the hostess and b) no booze for me I walked in and one of the clerks stocking the shelves greeted me and said if there was anything I was looking for that wasn’t on the floor she could help. I told her that I was looking for a bottle of wine for a friend but I didn’t know what she drank(quite frankly this was the type of friend who would drink Drano if it were alcoholic!) The clerk suggestion a Sauvignon Blanc as a safe bet. I’ll agree with Venessa G. and say it sucks that they only carry Ontario wines, but in my case it was better than nothing and the service was good.

If you can’t get to a liquor store, the Wine Rack is your next best option. The only downfall is these stores are all owned by the LCBO and only sell wine from Ontario. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but if you’re looking for a little variety, or a little European vino for dinner, you won’t get it here. And because they only sell wine from Ontario, there isn’t much selection. Naked Grape and Inniskillin are both decent wines. I like a dry white(like a Pinot Grigio or a Sauvignon Blanc) and for their price, these ones are satisfactory. However if you want real selection(and in my opinion better value for your dollar) I would suggest finding a liquor store instead.
