Van Rijk Diamond Cutters & Jewellers

Upon entering Van Rijk Jewellers — my man I shared a casual joke about the tight security getting into the place… we actually couldn’t figure it out! The security guard (who was quite friendly and humorous), made us smile as we finally got it right and entered into what honestly looked like a majestic treasury. Jewels. Watches. More jewels.
Immediately we were received and helped by a young woman — who was both enthusiastic (glad to be served by someone who clearly loves their job!) and tremendously knowledgeable. We were strictly interested in vintage jewellery and were impressed that she knew her stuff — era, cut and weight and clarity of stones, etc. There’s nothing worse when you know more than the rep trying to make a sale — and that’s just the thing… we never once felt pressured, out of place, or felt like anyones nose was out of joint. She listened attentively to precisely what we wanted. She also let us veer off the path if we saw something stunning (it’s hard not to stray in that pace!)…regardless of what our price range was.
It was pretty spectacular to see all inventory out on the floor — specifically diamond engagement rings. If you wanted to — you could try on the $ 100,000 ring. No problem! No going into the back, unlocking a safe, asking what we do for a living. No air that we have inconvenienced the seller at all by asking to see something that may or may not be out of our snack bracket.
I encourage everyone to seek out Van Rijk Jewellers if they are hunting for a special antique piece of jewellery. Their selection, and range in price and quality are explicitly the best in Toronto — hands down.
