I walked by this salon for months and I was surprised to see how busy it always is at any time of the day, on my way to work, going for lunch, coffee breaks etc… I’m very traditional and I’m basically always scared to try something new, I like to always be on the safe side. The décor is very tempting and warm, and I see lots of women walking out their doors looking good and taking selfies of theirselves at the reception or just outside the facility. So one day in early December I finally decided to call and book my first appointment for root touch up, a few highlights and a little trim. I usually hate to call and have to explain myself over the phone about what I want and I always book online for everything but I wasn’t too sure what I needed to choose from the menu and on the phone the receptionist was really nice and listened to what I wanted and advised me on a few things which it turned out great specially timing wise and for the choice of my stylist for my services and type of hair. On the day of my appointment I came in a few minutes early and I was greeted nicely by the receptionist which took my coat and offered me an enormous amount of choices for beverages and after she escorted me on the beautiful colour area where I met Joseph Mario, my stylist. He is a very friendly senior stylist that took his time to listen to what I wanted to go with my hair and explained me step by step all the processes that we were going to do and lots lots of tips and helpful informations on how to keep them nice and healthy and prolonging the radiance of my colour between services in order to not come in so often(my greys show pretty fast even though I’m just in my early 30’s). I’m not usually a talkative person but with Mario I felt very comfortable cheat chatting through the whole process. At the end my hair was stunning! Never nobody ever knew how to give me exactly what I wanted! The cut was perfect, the colour stunning! Immediately I started texting my girlfriends and sending them a few pics of the results because they were fantastic. I was so ecstatic and me and Mario were having at that point so much fun and I stayed with him a little bit more even after the process was over just to talk a bit more on how to recreate the same style at home without any styling skill — I always was terrible at it -. But now every morning I know exactly what to do before going to work and it really takes me a few minutes. Everybody loves my new hair and I received lots of compliments through all the holiday season at a lot of parties that my company and clients threw for corporate. It was such a confidence boost and I went back since then for my root touch up, Mario was not available at that time but Tina did equally a good job, my formula for the colour was already there. I definitely recommend this place you won’t be disappointed.

I am very happy about finding Tony Shamas Hair & Laswer. Their staff is funny, kind, and attentive. They make us feel comfortable. I was very nervous about coming to this new shop, but I got relieved because everybody there was very nice. Even other customers were nice. I went there for laser hair removal and I really liked the place. On the next day, I came back there for my haircut. Both experiences are so good! Ivan is very nice. I inquired about the hair removal by email before I went the shop. Ivan responded me right away. When I went to my hair cut, he gave me a nice glass of lemon water. I look forward to going there in the next month.

I really wanted to like the hair color and overall customer care from this salon because of the other reviews, but it just fell really short — unlike the hair cut I failed to receive. I had booked 3 weeks in advance for a balayage highlighting and cut with Jodi — I had to book two separate time slots online which was fine. This was in preparation for a wedding I was attending as a bridesmaid and we had to keep our hair down. I had a gorgeous blonde balayage already on the ends of my hair from Marca College, where many of their junior hair stylists trained, including Jodi. I simply just wanted to freshen it up for the photos, as I would lose some of the blonde with a cut. I was given a waiver by Ivan(one of the owners) before Jodi applied the dye, stating that because I already had blonde colouring in my hair they would not be responsible for corrections. I thought this was strange because the color was also L’Oreal products from Marca, it had not been done in half a year, my hair was in great condition, and I have had stylists apply color on color many many times when younger. I signed because it was awkward and I had taken that morning off before leaving to go up north in 2 days. The experience while at the salon was nice, the staff are friendly and the owners seem lovely. Ivan is very chatty and was quick to offer hot beverages. The other owner Tony came over to correct Jodi and guide her on the dye/volume choice, which was my first red flag. I just asked them to avoid anything reddy/brassy, I really liked the light blonde contrast with the chestnut brown I had prior. 3 hours later I left with brassy reddish hair with some lighter high lights along the ends after a toner was applied for a very, very long time. I bought all of the recommended hair products and hoped to see a change or that is was the lighting. The worse part is I never got my hair cut because they said it wasn’t in their appointment book, so while I left with a nice blowout I would rather have had a trim for the wedding… and the price… I had to run to House of Lords on the way to work afterwards to squeeze in a trim. When I told one of the senior stylists there what I had just paid and she saw the result, she was shocked. She said my hair looked a mess, it definitely wasn’t balayage, and that I should have said something or been offered a correction. 2 months later I am still upset and waited to write my review until after I paid my pre wedding treat to myself off on my MC, before that I was fuming. I would be careful about choosing one of the junior stylists if you attend this salon; while a profile or online ad may say someone is knowledgeable in balayage or ombré I have learnt this is not always the case as I wait to have my color corrected.

I have always had to have short hair. That might sound easy, but a s far as getting a haircut, it’s not. This was made evident when my hairdresser of 10+ years decided to up and move to Vancouver! I have spent the last 2 years trying to find a new hairdresser. No matter where I went, I left looking like I’d been to a barber instead of a stylist — believe me there is a difference! It’s really hard to find someone who can cut a woman’s hair short and NOT make her look like a guy. So I was really thrilled when a friend suggested Maureen at Tony Shamas I gave her a try. Now finally, I look like my hair is «styled» rather than simply«cut», and like all good cuts, I don’t have to go as often because the«grow out period» still looks great! I was also impressed with the speed of service, because I often find it difficult to get away from work for very long. Thanks Maureen! I will be back for sure!

I’ve been a bunch of times to shamas and I can now say that I found my new favourite permanent salon. A couple of co-workers started to go there all the time when they initially got their blow-dry club packages and when one of them tried it also for highlights the results were really good, so I decided to push my limits a little further and get some colour done as well on my hair, I know I’m a little difficult with my hair so it takes me a while to trust somebody with it. Initially I was attracted by the décor, very different for a hair salon, warm and cozy with nice relaxing music. At the reception Ivan, always very nice and friendly(I have no idea how can he keep such a positive energy also when I go late in the evening and he’s been standing all day) makes the best chai lattes and cappuccinos, — with both chocolate and cinnamon on top, definitely my favourite. I book my colour, cut and blow-dry with Tony, right at my consultation — which was very exhaustive — I started to feel comfortable and more relaxed, we laughed a lot: he’s quite a character! When it was time to rinse my colour I was taken to the shampoo room, which has different music(I think every room has different music) and it’s kinda of a spa environment, very relaxing specially after a long day at the office and I was given a scalp massage as well and shampoo using Kerastase products, which I love! And actually also for the styling part. I was so happy right after, the colour turned out exactly how I expected it to be, and so did my cut. Tony is very passionate about what he does and I can’t say enough about my hair. I definitely recommend this place.

First review! This newly relocated salon opened up right at the corner of Adelaide and Jarvis so I had to check it out since I’ve passed by numerous times. And I’m glad I did. I made my appointment online and I was happy to see that there were spots available next day right after work. When I walked in, I was greeted by their friendly staff and Maureen, my stylist introduced herself and took my coat and prepared me for my consultation and wash. The gentleman from the desk offered my some chocolates and a drink where I ordered a chai latte. I’m not sure if it was an upsell or just a general recommendation but I was offered a hair mask instead of the regular conditioner based on my dry, thin hair. It was probably an upsell since it was $ 10 but it made my hair feel really nice. Maureen was great. I’m not much a talky person but she made good conversation that wasn’t just for the sake of conversation. I was quite happy with my haircut and even more pleased that I was in and out within 45 mins and home in time for dinner. My entire hair cut cost under $ 80 and that was including tax and tip. This salon isn’t so bad but with aveda academy, World salon and Allan Parss all in the same general area, you have quite the decision to make.
