This place is awesome if you need a lot of yarn for cheap. Most of the large bulk quantity. It is basically the Costco of fibre arts. I have came here on many different occasions and gotten some great deals for blankets and other projects needing large amounts of yarn. If you are on the email list they will often send you promotions. The best one is the tent sale when you can buy three bags of yarn and get one free –sometimes it changes. The staff there is extremely helpful and will help you with anything that you need including finding patterns or figuring out what to do with you new yarn. In addition to having the generic brands of yarn like pattons and Bernat they also have some specialty brands like marble chunky and Rowan.

I found this awesome store through Unilocal reviews and it surely didn’t disappoint. The staff is super friendly and the selection is incredible. Best of all, the prices are amazing and lowest in town. This is a candy store for knitters and crochet ppl. I live downtown and it was certainly worth the drive.

Amazing yarn store with the best prices in Toronto. They sell a wide variety of yarn which ranges from the brands available in craft stores(Paton, Bernat etc) to higher end brands. The staff are friendly and not afflicted with the snobbery that is common in yarn stores. I especially like their supply of notions and needles. They even sell individual interchangeable needle tips and cables.

A mecca for all things sewing, knitting and crocheting. The vast majority of their yarns are 10% off, but if you buy by the bag, you get the whole bag for an additional 10% off. Their clear out yarns are steeply discounted. There is a very large selection of needles and notions, which can be overwhelming, but if you need help, you just have to ask. Peter, the owner, is super friendly and approachable. If you need help with determining how much yarn to buy for a specific project, sales staff are there to provide valuable advice without«guilting» you into over-buying. I believe they do sewing machine repairs as well.

WOW! This place is incredible!!! Overwhelming! It is a two-level mecca of all things to do with knitting, crocheting, sewing, embroidery, weaving… you get the idea… I didn’t head upstairs as it is the place for sewing machines and classes, group meetings, etc. So yes — please note The Yarn Guy offers much more than just yarn! Sitch counters, needles, hooks and all necessary accoutrements for handiwork can be found among the myriad narrow aisles of shelves, boxes and bins. The staff are wonderful — they leave you alone to explore and do your own thing, but are there if you want/need help, and their knowledge is encyclopedic! FAB sales on when I went — «Tent Sale Yarn»! If you join their email list, you will get frequent email alerts about sales — they seem to discount really often — so just wait for what you are looking for and I bet it will go on sale! You can find ANYTHING you are looking for here! And, as other reviewers have noted, at the best prices in the city I’ve been able to find so far. Free parking(6 – 8 spots) in their private parking spots out front, and it has never been full when I have visited.

What a great store! The store is located about 5 mins from Main st. Subway station. The have great sales and the selection is impressive. It is about $ 3 cheaper per ball than the average store. They have mega chunky balls for $ 7 and they also have buy 3 and get one free on selected items. I also liked how Peter(owner) would walk around and help out. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. If you love knitting this is a store you must visit.

I’m indebted to the person who messaged me about this place after reading my review of one of the snooty queen street sellers. Here, there is a excellent selection of craft and elite knitting yarns at great prices and low end to high end knitting tools and etcs. It’s worth the trip to Main Street station. Staff are helpful and friendly and the vibe is welcoming. I definitely recommend coming here while you are building up your knitting confidence. But don’t be surprised if you decide to keep returning even after you can talk your way around hand-dyed hand-spun alpaca.

I love this place! It is great for everything; knitting, crocheting, sewing and more! The prices are better than Walmart for basic yarns. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Free class every Monday from 1−4pm. Not even a 10 mins bus ride from Main Stn.

This place is great for a great selection of well-priced yarns and notions. Years ago, I stocked up on tons of Patons yarn when good ol’ Lewiscraft went out of business and I’ve been on the hunt for yarn, trying to match different colours with no luck at the usual haunts — Wool Mill, Purple Purl, and even Romni Wools on Queen West. Thanks to the nice ladies at other shops on the East end, I found my yarn here! And at a great deal! I couldn’t help but notice the great selection of yarns and notions, and at a TERRIFIC price! Four super-size balls of Bernat chunky yarn at just over $ 20! I’m making a sweater! Or two! The place itself is hidden on a side street but it’s easy to find, easy to get to by TTC. The store is to the ceiling with yarn, but probably no more crammed than Romni Wools. And did I say the price was right? The staff were helpful too. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a visit! Happy stitchin’ & bitchin’! I’m definitely a fan and will be back again!
