I used to frequent this location once a week for their power yoga classes and spinning classes, but gave up after a couple of months. The staff at this location were not friendly at all, perhaps on occasion there was the odd staff member that actually greeted me warmly, but for the most part I felt ignored upon entering this club. During my first time at this location, I had to ask where the changing rooms, yoga and spinning studios were located. I wasn’t offered a tour and was left to fend for myself with simple directions as to which floors the rooms were located on. I thought easy enough, but the gym was located on multiple floors and it was like a maze getting to the changing room, yoga and spinning studios. It was definitely a bit of a workout getting to where you need to go especially when I did back to back classes. I liked the fact this location had a separate yoga studio from their group fitness classes, but the spinning studio had poor air circulation and felt a bit claustrophobic without any windows. Thankfully, the studio had high ceilings. The women’s changing room was always busy and rather small in size for the location downtown. The shower facilities were claustrophobic because it was a small stall and I’m definitely not a large woman. The changing area was definitely a frustrating experience at peak times since it was a bit stressful trying to change without bumping the person next to you. Good thing about this location was the cleanliness, fact it was right in the financial district and steps from Union Station, but the multi-level gym area made it a bit inconvenient.

Now a Goodlife fitness, I dropped by the location to activate my Corporate account membership. Upon handing off my disclaimer form, the reception desk handed over my key tag noting my account will be activated in a few days… And that’s about it as far as service went. As a first timer at this location, I was a little taken aback that the ‘reception’ was not as welcoming as I had expected(no welcome package, no upselling, no speech) nor was I offered a tour of the facilities. As I get myself used to finding where things are(by myself) at this gym over the next few weeks, here’s to hoping that my existence will at least gets acknowledged(hoping I get to see someone else more friendly and welcoming at reception the next time). So far, I’m rating this place a 1-star for unfriendly service. Worst case, there’s always the union station location nearby.
