After suffering from jet lag and no appetite for three days, the sausage western bagel certainly brought my taste buds back to life! GCB is located inside Eglinton station, very convenient for commuters to drop by and pick up breakfast on the way to work. The service is speedy, the bagels were fresh, and there’s freshly brewed coffee on the side for self-service. For a fully loaded sausage western bagel and large chocolate milk, I paid around $ 7. As my first proper meal since coming back to Toronto, GCB has reset my time clock and recovered my appreciation of good food! Two thumbs up!

i only really like the pumpernickel bagel for its«fluffy-chewy» texture. chocolate-chip is ok, but it’s definitely the chocolate. try it with cream cheese for something that resembles cheesecake for breakfast. their bagels are not very typically bagel-like; neither montreal nor ny styles. similarly, the«topped bagels» are completely un-bagely, but still uniquely good and filling. i’ve tried the others, and will not ever again. since this GBC does not have seating(it’s inside the subway station), grab n’ go is the only option. the beverages do not warrant attention.

I would like to start off by saying that I love the Great Canadian Bagel. They have the best Herb & cheddar bagels I’ve ever tasted. Especially when they are fresh out of the oven. The combination of the herbs and the melted cheddar cheese inside the bagel, it’s unbelievable. This location of The Great Canadian Bagel is inside the subway station, meaning if you are dying for a bagel, you’ll have to pay your fare and go into the actual station. But hold on second, I recommend you put your dime size token back in your pocket and save your money. After feeling worn out, I needed a pick-me-upper. I decided to go to Great Canadian bagel, the smell that is emitted through the store is so fragrant, it makes me salivate. But I know better now. Their selection of bagels is poor at best. You would think that with the amount of traffic they get, they would have more(mind you I didn’t go in the morning — i went at lunch). I ordered my regular, cheddar and herb bagel toasted, plain… The bagel tasted stale and was slightly tough. It was the nastier bagel I’ve ever tasted! I mean, I question whether it was today’s bagel or yesterday’s because it just wasn’t anywhere close to The Great Canadian Bagel standards I’m used to. My suggestion is to pass the fragrant aroma, exit and go out to the mall food court and go buy Bagel Stop!
