What a cute place! I walked by as it was opening and had to go in and explore. I’ve been to many shops like this recently, as my sister is looking for a specific style of vase for her wedding. While they didn’t have any here, I still spent quite a bit of time exploring and browsing. Everything in here seems really clean, in relatively good shape and with really decent prices. I love their vintage glassware(if only I could have more glassware in my house, it’s bursting as it is! They also have tons of jewelry, and their basement is full of quality furniture. I could definitely see myself purchasing gifts here, there are so many unique options to choose from! If you’re in the area, definitely take a moment to explore!

There’s some nice stuff on offer here, but it really reflects the neighborhood it’s in. Most of the stuff for sale is very tasteful(lots of pastel upholstery, lots of cherry and mahogany wood), but it’s not my style at all. The art is well priced, though – lots of great pieces for twenty to forty dollars, and it’s not as staid as the furniture. I love poking around stores like this, so I’ll probably stop in next time in Leaside, but I can’t see myself buying anything here.

I’ve been going to ‘The Elegant” for about twenty years now, and it’s always new. It’s the store of a thousand faces. Consignment jewelery? Ostentatious furniture from The Art Shoppe, exiled by Leaside’s new interior designer? Dollar-store toys? Shabby-chic glassware? Antiques, in good taste and bad? ‘Collectables’? Check, check, check, etc. It’s the pinnacle of fascinating browsing. It is one of the only places I know where you can pick up an emerald ring, a dining room set upholstered in silk(laquer slightly chipped), a novelty porcelain saltshaker, and a pencil topped with a no-pop bubble blowing set. It rivals ‘Courage! My Love’ for diversity, but in the gift-art-and-furniture arena instead of personal adornment. My childhood home saw many items from The Elegant arrive, and I’ve spent many happy hours wandering through the shop, alternately amazed, amused, and desirous.

The elegant garage sale is just that, a collection of estate and second-hand pieces hand selected by the owners themselves. You can find anything from artwork and dishware to furniture and jewellery in this bargain hunter’s paradise. Visit often since they get new items in almost every day!

Doesn’t the name of this store just make you want to go inside? Wait until you see the outside of the store… This very cool second-hand shop is filled with a mish-mash collection of vintage serving pieces, home décor, furniture, toys, jewelry and anything else you might find at a garage sale! The prices are great — and like a garage sale, it’s hit or miss! Perhaps you’ll find a vase or silver platter that you’ve been looking for. Or perhaps you’ll just enjoy the experience of sifting through old stuff looking for treasures — it really depends on the day!
